France and Switzerland to progress from this group IMO.

Re: World Cup: Group E discussion
You have to think the climate will push this in Ecuadors favour. The swiss will probably park the bus as per usual and Shaqiri is obviously useful so they will be strong.

Switzerland will top the group. Much better team than France.
Think France will be the flop of the tournament again.

Have you even seen who switzerland has beaten in official comps and how they've done away from home? Ffs people.
I actually fear Ecuador more than Switzerland.

Any team coached by Hitzfeld is dangerous. France should top this group though.

Re: World Cup: Group E discussion
They are terrible away from home Z and have played literally nobody in official comps... their group was Iceland, Slovenia, Norway, Albania and Cyprus. They actually drew 3 times against these teams ... and only scored 17 goals in the 10 games.
Really need to look deeper and see that Switzerland just milked the UEFA ranking system due to luck. Drawing Spain in WCQ for example only gets you marginally more points than drawing Cyprus. Beating Cyprus gets you more points than drawing Spain

Qualifiers have exactly zero bearing on how a team preforms in the tournament proper though.
Tournament play is a different beast entirely.

Re: World Cup: Group E discussion
The quartet of Shaqiri, Xhaka, Drmic & Stocker > your attack.
Lichtsteiner and Whoscored Legend Rodriguez are arguably the best pair of fullbacks in the WC along with Brazil
The chemistry of Napoli pair Inler and Behrami > your midfield
You have a better CB pairing but Schar could be as good as Varane. Ask Rwo if you think I'm trolling.
My main man Sommer > LOLris.
The GOAT Hitzfeld >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> that clown you have in charge

Re: World Cup: Group E discussion
I actually agree with Gil. Not that the Swiss are better than France but that Sportz is way too biased.
Switzerland have a great starting XI with a lot of talent. And a much much better coach.
The only weakness is 1 CB spot. Fabian Schar is a beast. but whoever partners him is not

Re: World Cup: Group E discussion
Switzerland proved nothing so far though. They got a lucky group in the qualifications with not a single decent team in it because Blatter is Swiss. And they still weren't that impressive in a such group.
France better fear Valencia, Castillo & Caicedo more than this overhyped Switzerland side just because they topped their garbage group in the qualifications.

I actually like this French team, I think they will take 1st spot with Switzerland coming second.

Re: World Cup: Group E discussion
This is the most predictable group in Brazil, Switzerland/France occupy 1st/2nd, Ecuador 3rd and Honduras 4th.
Only a matter of who finishes 1st.

By the way people are so ignorant about Switzerland that I won't even bother to expand my point. Switzerland is just as strong as France, forget about individuals for one second and look at them as a TEAM and you'll see there's not much difference between them.

That's how I was looking at them, as a team. And they weren't looking very impressive in the qualifications despite having the easiest group.
The only person who compared Switzerland and France individually in this thread is Gil, and he said Switzerland got better individuals, so I don't see any point in your post.

Re: World Cup: Group E discussion
Anyone who knows the history between me and Sports will understand why I said that. Switzerland do have a better team than France though.
In the last two years they've beaten Brazil, Croatia and Germany and narrowly lost to Argentina. While France were lucky to even qualify for this tournament and have been beaten by Germany, Spain, Uruguay, Brazil and were lucky to draw their friendly against Belgium.
They did beat the Netherlands in March but it was a misleading result. That was Holland's C team with 2/3 veterans focused on club season.

They played in 2010 World Cup. And ended up being the only team in the tournament to beat Spain (eventual winners).

Re: World Cup: Group E discussion
Yeah. My bad. They scored 1 goal and conceded 1 in 3 games, finishing 3rd behind Spain and Chile. Park the bus monsters. Drew Chile and then lost to Honduras. How could i forget lol.McAgger wrote:They played in 2010 World Cup. And ended up being the only team in the tournament to beat Spain (eventual winners).

Sportszcy, Switzerland played in the last World Cup in 2010. Shows how ignorant you are about this squad.
