Yep. I was with the Dear Great Leader there, me too wanted to finally see the hype in action.
Also I had to laugh when I realized Bruno Almeida was their striker.
I remember him from the last decade in Bremen, great guy, but don't they have someone better?!?

edit.. err yes Eder

I guess it depends on what happened to Hummels and on Schweinis fitness.

Didn't watch the first half, but what I saw from Portugal in the second half is that they were really poor.

They looked clueless really. No cohesion. No pressing. Slow movement. And pretty much just 5 strides behind Germany every time. You'd think they'd be more up for this. And work better together as a team. But tbh too lethargic at times. When they went forward with a bit of purpose, the midfield were too slow coming forward. And Ronaldo made a few poor decisions on the ball, and wasn't really given the space to make use of his best qualities.

Germany, well, they had it really easy. Took their chances and passed the ball well. But as I said, Portugal weren't really up for this so I won't read too much into this result Germany-wise. Germany are forever good and solid in the group stage. I'm more interested in seeing how they'll fair in the KO stages. Because that's when they seem to go into a shell and change their attacking, fluent style of play. And also when they come up against some real opposition.

If you only saw the second half, it was game over by then.

The game was decided with the 2:0 and the Pepe red.

Please can anyone who knows how to use this interweb find a gif for me, of this Ronaldo freekick where only Lahm was the wall and he managed to hit him nonetheless?
If it was a gif from the slow motion replay with the facepalm logo faded in afterwards that would be DIVINE.

Swiss were denied a clear goal yesterday ruled out for offside

Missed it, thanks. Two mistakes in how many odd games the last 2 or 3 days? Neither of which had an effect on the outcome of the game. Though luckily for Switzerland.

Said to Z, he was giving Portugal far too much credit for having done nothing at all. Ghana worries me though, admittedly.

Germany didnt impress me much at all. Portugal were really, just that bad.

They did what they supposed to, win the game and they did so with a good looking score line but I dont see anything special with this team yet.

Questionable pen, questionable red, set peice goal and then obviously with just 10 men and already playing uninspired, crap football Portugal simply fell apart in all areas.

Portugal got the same problem since losing Deco, they play 90% of the game on the wings. The only time the ball is in the middle is inside their own half or one of the useless crosses from the wings.

Moutinho just sorely underused, his role just reduced to passing it out wide, time and time again because he has nothing in front of him.

Unfortunately, all jokes aside, I actually agree with this. Höwedes and Boateng as fullbacks, Özil on the wing, Khedira in the starting lineup and the false 9 system will all prove to be a problem against opponents playing at a higher level.
