Sanogo has played 2 games for you? Hasn't scored yet? and had 1 shot on target? and about 3-4 times where he missed the ball with his foot trying to shoot?
But you already want to scrap the plan to buy Morata from Madrid because of him?
Because competition for a spot is BAD, right?

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
The only reason I wanted Sanogo to start for us, because I have no faith Giroud, I still dont.
Sanogo, should go on a loan and maybe in few years we can look to bring him back. Next year Giroud should not even be second choice he should be fighting for second place.
1.Top striker
2.Morata
2.Giroud.
4.Joel
5. Sanogo

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
Competition isn't bad, but Wenger's not one for stockpiling talent. It's a bit difficult seeing him praise Sanogo and put his faith in him, and then buying another young striker who's only a year or so older, ignoring the other young striker we've already got, Chuba Akpom, only to then tell all three of them "well, Giroud is the first choice and you're all backup".
Wenger has brought young players and has made them first team players immediately in the past, but at risk of trying to second guess somebody like Wenger, I can't see him bringing Morata in with the expectation of being rotated with Giroud and with the view of eventually replacing him in the starting eleven, especially not after he attempted to buy a top level striker last summer. You'd think he'd do so again this summer.
I'd welcome Morata because I like the look of him, but if there's any young forward I want to see brought into the squad, I'd rather it be Joel Campbell .

No, you're jumping to conclusions. I said I was skeptical about the rumor. I wasn't advocating anything in particular though.
Nobody on earth would say Sanogo doesn't look raw still, obviously. But he's shown some promise in these recent games, certainly. All I'm saying is, would you expect Wenger to spend upwards of £10 million on a player who is relatively untested at the top level like Morata, and whose profile is still roughly similar to Sanogo (6'3", almost identical age, neither with much top flight experience yet)?
I don't mean this as a reflection on Morata either. I'm not even assessing his talent or his potential. I would just be surprised if that was how Wenger would decide to drop cash on an attacking option.
Of course it's not impossible. Wenger spent a good chunk of money in 2011 to get Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who seemed like a luxury signing at the time - and an expensive one for someone so unproven.
But it doesn't strike me as likely. Not when Sanogo is already there, and Wenger's previous targets have seemed to be somewhat more mobile players who would have ideally complemented what Giroud offers with his height and hold-up play: Higuain, Suarez, hell, even Ba to a certain extent. (Remy too, if there's anything to those rumors.)

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
1.Loïc Rémy
2.Joel Will score against United.
2.Giroud.
Wenger still saves Billioooooooooons for the next transfer window.
I like Morta but I just dont want another target man, maybe I am wrong but having him and Giroud seems too much for me.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
Campbell doesn't even play centrally, he's been on the right for Olympiakos and Betis (IIRC about Betis).
Giroud has done enough to be able to fight for 1st choice no matter who is brought in.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
ah ok, sure, I understand. You guys know Wenger better than me after all.
I too thought Sanogo was promising against us, btw, not to get me wrong, but then again if Morata, not to speak of a finished top striker had been upfront, you might've been indeed 1:0 or 2:0 up after ten minutes, regardless of the pen.
So, in that spirit: proceed!

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
I don't think that a CF who struggles to scratch 20 goals in all comps with poor efficiency should every be considered good enough for Arsenal... not his fault; but it's Arsenal duty to put a better scorer out there.
That said, kids like Sanogo, Morata, etc. are not the answer. They needs seasoning and i don't think there's an appetite to be patient right now.

If you had to pick, which striker would be best option for Arsenal?
What do you think of Loïc Rémy leading Arsenal?

oh c'mon now, stop making this kind of comments to get a rise out of gunners. That's one big freaking "if", such a great talent Morata is who couldn't get a cameo sub appearance in Madrid. You know what else? If we didn't play half ass in Naples, we would of trash Zenit by now. If Giroud scored half of his misses ( most wasteful striker in BPL btw), we would be comfortable up top now. If Ozil put that penalty in, if Chesny didn't come out, this and that, at the end of the days we lost. Fact remained we need starting material like Jay and sport said. Our back up is set, no need to waste money on another youngster while it could go to WC striker funding

You guys overrate Remy imo.
He is good. But he is inconsistent.
I'd rather want a class striker upfront.
I'd rather get Morata and work with him. He ain't far away from becoming a very good striker. He just needs the right training/coaching and right people around him. We know Arsenal is a good place, so yeah,

Honestly, would love some South American blood in our attack - they have the best strikers in the world.
No wonder we struggle to sign strikers, German strikers are all crap
