Re: Rumour Mill
No point in signing two CMs. If we sign one, we'll have: Matic, New CM, MVG, Ramires, Mikel/Lampard. No need for a 6th, especially when DL4 can play there too.
I'd take Lars Bender, for sure.

Not realistic but Alonso or Montolivo would be a perfect fit

I'd take Montolivo, I wanted him when he moved to Milan on a free.

Another unmentioned option is Milan Badelj, we were linked with him in the past and he has been terrific for Hamburg.

Chelsea’s £40m deal for Atletico Madrid star Costa threatened by Monaco millions:
Chelsea are in danger of losing out on signing Diego Costa from Atletico Madrid this summer, with French club Monaco offering a tax-free salary understood to be £150,000 a week as well as trumping a £40million bid

Sure sure.
Sell Falcao so you can buy Costa, one year after spending 60m to buy Falcao.

Re: Rumour Mill
Mateo Kovacic FFS
This is the first video I found, I'm sure there are plenty of better, but that's good enough to show you what kind of player he is
He has an amazing technique and a very good decision making that makes him rarely misplace a pass or lose the possession of the ball despite him always running with the ball from deep positions dribbling 2/3 player in the process and always trying through balls in the final third. Has a wonderful first touch that allows him to escape from pressing most of the times but of course his most spectacular trait are his accelerations with the ball that open up the opposition's midfield.
He's been criminally underused this season by Mazzarri and that would only make the deal more plausible, would be a fantastic fit for Matic too and they would form a world class midfield for the long-term future.
If only..

I like him but am not sure if he is ready, plus Inter don't seem to want to sell him from what I have read.

This is Inter we're talking about, they'll jump on any chance to sell promising youngsters.

I suppose you're right, A swap for Torres would be right up Inter's ally.

Re: Rumour Mill
Not sure who I'd prefer Costa / Mandzu tbh, I'm still slightly skeptical over Costa just really worried he's a "one season" wonder (I know he's played well previous seasons too).
CM wise Gungo or a more passing CM would be better, rather than a Witsel imo.
Not going to happen but someone like Ruben Pardo would be pretty sick to have.

Re: Rumour Mill
From the United section:
I guess that selling our best player for the past 2 seasons after only few months of struggling to our fiercest rival in the last years was indeed strange. Maybe we're actually changing our transfer strategies according to the FFP and can't expect to just splash 100 M this summer. I think that we would be fine for next season with a striker and a midfielder and Bertrand as second choice LB, but missing out on someone who would solve every our problem at LB for the next 10/12 years would be bad indeedLumiere_Blanche wrote: k now theres this.Manchester United have agreed £85,000 a week deal for £27m Luke Shaw – report wrote:Manchester United have agreed an £85,000 a week deal to bring Southampton‘s Luke Shaw to Old Trafford, pending contracts being signed, according to reports close to Southampton. wrote:Reports of the wages come from both Andy Mitten and Red Issue and the £27 million fee was first reported back in January when the links between United and Shaw began to gather pace. wrote:Securing Shaw before the World Cup would be the perfect way for Manchester United to start the summer transfer window and although £27 million is an astonishing fee for an 18-year-old, especially a left-back, it is more than a fair price given that Shaw could be our left back for over a decade. wrote:Openly a Chelsea fan,Shaw would have his position in the first team guaranteed at United whereas he wouldn’t at Chelsea and that could have played into our hands. Stamford Bridge was always considered the more likely destination for Shaw were he to leave Southampton but these fresh reports suggest otherwise. wrote:Chelsea would not have sold Juan Mata if they didn’t absolutely have to, regardless of whether he was Jose Mourinho‘s first choice player. They needed the money to help balance the books. Chelsea‘s prerogative this summer is at least one new striker and unless they decided to sell one of their biggest players once again to balance the spending again, they may not even be able to fund a bid for Shaw. wrote:

Re: Rumour Mill
I honestly don't think Money is an issue for us. We've always been able to balance the books and for the club not to have that kind of foresight is idiotic. I think Mata wanted out and we obliged. However, Shaw is not No.1 priority.

Re: Rumour Mill
I think it's highly possible Mourinho would see Azpi as his long-term choice at LB. So what was once looking an inevitability now could well not come off at all.

El Confidencial: Chelsea agree £50m deal for Diego Costa, who will join in the summer on June 30:
Spanish newspaper El Confidencial say Chelsea have struck an agreement for Brazilian-born hitman Diego Costa at the tune of £50million and the player will join the club on June 30

Doubt it.
