Looks like we need a replacement/back-up for Lampard, esp. after Van Ginkel's injury . Right now our pivot looks ordinary with Lamp & Ramires with no creativity. Deep lying playmaker is what we need. I think someone in the mould of Alonso.

Khedira is more of a destroyer, not creator. Sahin, Modric, Illarimendi or Gundagon will be good. We can trade one from our crowded AM players with BVB.

Isn't that the bosman rule? International teams can negotiate in Jan while domestic teams can only do so once the contract actually expires?

I know players whose contracts expire in the summer can negotiate and sign pre-contracts with other clubs starting the January before, but I don't know about foreign clubs having legal priority. You may be right.
