Re: Transfer Rumours V4
Still wont sign him.
They will baulk at the 20+ asking price. Didnt sign him when we had the chance, what exactly has changed? Its not as if they have any idea how he is doing

Of course there is still my guy, but im afraid City will get him now.
He is more a Mascherano/Puyol/Koscienly than Pique/Hummels/Vertoghen..as in he is a ball winning, aggressive 1 v 1 defender who throws himself in harms way. Main difference from Mascherano aside from him being an actual defender is he dominates in the air and doesnt throw himself into EVERY tackle.

Re: Transfer Rumours V4
I would pay in upwards of 25 million euros for Vertonghen. Partially because we need him and partially because I believe he is worth somewhere around there.
I would love Vertonghen. I really really hope we go for him.
Great defender with great reading of the game, strong, fairly athletic, great in the air, former captain at Ajax and deserving captain at Tottenham (GTFO Dawson), composed under pressure and a good passer.
Left footed and can play LB to boot, though I'm not sure how comfortable I am with him playing a LB in our system. He's only half decent offensively from the LB position, and most of his contribution consists of crosses, so offensively he wouldn't do much. If he played a pretty reserved LB that played almost like a LB/3rd CB mix as we would see with Abidal at times, then I can see it working.
Though not important for a defender, it's worth noting the man can score a goal, too
Probably my favorite Tottenham player.

Yep, Mangala was also my choice in the summer. Let's be real for a moment - Porto won't sell him cheap, they will sell him to City probably. No chance for Mangala with Zubi and Bartomeu.

IIRC you watched him in France - Uruguay game, when he made mistake. He is really good playing in Porto, I think he is the kind of a defender Barcelona need.

Well Matpol is right, he wont get him. We will see how he does at City or something, then moan about it after.

I'd rather pay € 40M+ for Benatia than Mangala.
We won't get that kind of defender anyway. We'll go for some very cheap option. Fabian Schär, Fazio. Someone like that.

Being linked to the following on today's Sport
"Dragovic would cost 12 million; Musacchio, 30; Mangala, 25; Gouweleeuw, 12; and Laporte, 36"
Mangala for 25 million City will easily pay 10 more than that.

Apparently Tata has asked for Vidal. :notbad: But if we start a bidding war with RM for him I can see us ending with no CB again

Vidal will cost 40-50 million and with a bidding war with RM over 60 million possibly. They should just focus on a damn CB, we could buy 2-3 for the price of Vidal.

Reports in Spain suggest that Marc-Andre ter Stegen has passed a 'secret' medical at Barcelona as he inches closer to completing a summer switch to the Nou Camp. His current employers Borussia Monchengladbach are believed to have already sanctioned a sale.

Barcelona are set to join the race for Porto defender Eliaqium Mangala, according to the Daily Star. Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United are all reported to be interested in the powerful France international centre-back.

Reports from Spanish daily, Diario Sport suggest that FC Barcelona captain Carles Puyol will leave the club this summer in search of a new challenge, or he may retire.

Manchester City are interested in signing Angel Correa - likened to Sergio Aguero - from Argentine side San Lorenzo. Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Napoli and Arsenal are also rumoured to be interested in the 18-year-old forward.

Re: Transfer Rumours V4
Vidal would solve alot, he is exactly the kind of midfielder we lack in my opinion. Not that I am remotely thinking Juve will see tbh.
Still need a CB though and if we going to cheap out on any position, that isnt the one.

Vila real signed a CB for a mere 3 milion players Gabriel Paulista, he played ver well on monday vs. Espanyol and he really seems to be a good player:

Very impressive video.
Must be nice to have a central defender with athletic ability.

Re: Transfer Rumours V4
Juventus may accept an exchange deal involving Sanchez. Like Sanchez + € 20M. Dunno. It's a completely made up rumour anyway. After the La Real defeat Sport suddenly comes up with new coach, new centerback and new central midfield ideas.
Don't think Vidal would fit anyway. We need a playmaker, not an all action bomb the pitch up and down tackle / shoot all-arounder. Who is pulling the strings in a Busquets-Vidal-Iniesta midfield? Busquets plays infront of defense, Iniesta between the lines and Vidal plays box-to-box? Nah. Gündogan would be the better fit by far. Although he might be a crook now.

Yeah sport is pretty shit These 2 covers are only a week apart:

First one: Tata's triumph
Second one: Casting of coaches (Valverde, Luis Enrique, AVB, Kloppo &... Simeone )

Re: Transfer Rumours V4
We got a million play-makers,what we need another one of them for?
We need a player who has some level of athletic ability who can mix it up and graft while still being capable going the other way.
I am faster than all of our mid fielders and im a part timer.
Iniesta doesnt even play in between the lines, he is left, he is deep (where he drives from).
We lack control when Xavi isnt in the game, no question, but unless we have a Thiago (), or a player like this, we will lack that and have to compensate in other area's.

Re: Transfer Rumours V4
I don't see how Busquets-Vidal-Iniesta would work. It would have to be Busquets-Xavi-Vidal. You need at least 1 midfielder conductor (Pirlo, Alonso, Schweinsteiger, Gündogan, Xavi type of player who can set the rythm). He is energetic, for sure, but that's pointless when the 10 other players around him want to play tiki taka and sweet triangulations while Vidal plays more free-flowing heavy metal football and doesn't care about Barca's positional play and patient build-up. He would be a much worse fit than Fabregas. He has the worst passing statistic in the entire Juventus midfield, slightly higher than Tevez.

Re: Transfer Rumours V4
Comparing his passing % in Juve to Barca is superficial. Juve play a different style and he plays a unique role in it, always bursting into the box (as shown by his goal tally).
They do alot of quick hitting combo play, which by nature can be hit and miss. Ball goes to one of the strikers and you see alot of 1-2 touch combination moves trying to get in.
I seen Vidal for Chile play a very different way, even in defence (back 3) and building attacks from the back.
Just like most players, he would learn alot by coming to Barca and add some of what he has with our ideas.
I understand your concerns, but I dont think there is a player out there with that kind of skill and patient play, while still offering the dynamic play we sorely lack.
Other than Thiago and Gundogen, who is broken.
When I think of Vidal for us, I think of a super version of Keita.

Okay, but I didn't compare his passing statistics with Barcelona's midfielders. I compared his passing statistics with the passing statistics of his own teammates.
What does "CB" stand for? Clumsy baboon? We got Pique.
