Handing in a transfer request will not make Liverpool sell him for 40m. They will still want 50m for him.

I'm pretty certain that by handing in a transfer request Suarez would not be entitled to a larger severance fee from Liverpool, although like every player, he'd receive a signing on fee

I said to a friend that if Napoli get Higuain, Real will turn to Suarez more so with the proceeds they got for Callejon and Higuain as well as their annual transfer budget. Then when spurs finish 5th again, they'll go for Bale next summer

With that being said, we'd have missed out on 2 of our main targets and be stuck between a rock and a hard place

Don't get me wrong, Jay, Rooney and Suarez are credible players with very good attributes. Moreover, I think they'd bring much needed excitement. However, I just think we're going in the wrong direction.

Jovetic is at City. Rooney will end up at Chelsea on nearly £200k a week; Suarez at Real for about £45m. We'd have lost Higuan, baring any last minute divine interventions and we'll be back to square one. Last resort would have to be someone like Jackson Martinez.

Good available strikers who are worth their asking price is becoming somewhat of a myth as each week passes
