Calm down guys, we all know for a fact that Buffon had entered the history books for a long time now and has been an incredible goalkeeper for us, definitely including the last two seasons. One misled opinion won't change that! Very Happy

1 error was the nightmare backpass that MDS performed, which wasn't his fault at all.

It's also facts that he has been keeping Juve in high standard for the past 7 years since Calciopoli. It's also a fact he was key in both of our scudetto runs. It's also a fact that he let in the LEAST AMOUNT OF GOALS in Serie A two years running. It's also a fact he won GK of the year in Italy.

The truly great GK's raise their game when it counts the most. See Cech in last years CL run, Valdes in Europe or VDS in the 08 final.

Buffon failed to show up when it mattered. His legacy has undoubtedly taken a hit recently in my opinion, Not saying he's completely tarnished his reputation or whatever but he's no longer in my Top 5-10 GK's.

I just think Italy need some new blood. Balotelli has been superb under Prandelli and I think it's time the likes of Verratti, Marchetti/Sirigiu, SES and Ogbonna are given chances.

Gigi is undoubtedly an Italian and Juventus legend but I think his time is almost up.

What? Thats utterly ridiculous. He raised in game in the 06 final did he not? Buffon let up 2 goals all tournament. One own goal one penalty. And yes he is the top 5 that isnt even debatable. He is the best GK of the 2000's as he dominated up until 08 when Spain won the Euros.

You act like its Buffon's fault Juve lost CL finals. Maybe you haven't realized the whole team didnt step up? In 02/03 we lost on penalties which is clearly not his fault. You cant blame buffon for the CL at all. And besides even if the Bayern mistake didnt happen we still would have lost as Bayern are WAY better than us as a whole.

He should retire he made one mistake he is shit and in decline and isnt a legend anymore. Not in my top 10.

i remember countless mistakes made by van der Sar..in his last seasons...nobody asked him to retire..and even led to Man Utd UCL glory..and two more finals.

Have a feeling a younger and more agile keeper like Marchetti or Sirigu would have done better.

Of course there's no guarantee they would have saved any but unless they're given an opportunity to prove themselves how else can we gauge their talent, desire and heart?
