Not sure why he is still rated so highly. The class is there and of course the talent is as well. But that level of consistency has simply diminished. Far past his prime and should probably make way for another keeper soon. Don't see him being displaced for Brazil 2014 though, he represents a lot.

buffon was hardly at fault for any of the goals. even that bloody free kick. i don't see you asking every GK that concedes to messi/CR free kick to retire.

when Casillas took countless goals against Barca..no one asked him to retire. Cuz it's not like the goals were against Mexico. It is Brazil and Italy is out of Maldini's, Totti's and Baggio's.

One of the best around, still, like the above poster pointed out it's not only about the shot stopping or the catches it's also about his command of the defence and ability on the ball when passed back to him.
