Re: The Movie House - Part 3
Watched Ender's game, the movie hooked me in right from the start. Felt that it was very immersive, one thing that i really enjoyed about it was the original score. Had to be one of the best OST' i've heard all year and i'm definitely gonna listen to it some more. The acting was top notch, and the ending was quite unpredictable, to say the least.
All in all it was a good film 8.5/10

Just saw Gravity
What a film, the best in years imo (together with Silver Linings Playbook), everyone who appreciates the visuals and sound of a film, should see this and enjoy the thrill of it.

Re: The Movie House - Part 3
One of the best X-Men storylines ever. However, even after the trailer I'm still concerned with how they'll make this story work on film.

Re: The Movie House - Part 3
Trailer looks brilliant, But the story seems a bit off than it is in the comics. They tried to link The wolverine with it and it makes no sense. They will probably try to ignore that though.
The storyline originally is GOAT so i hope they make the most of it.

Great trailer but it confirmed that Wolverine is the main character again.

Great film. Very underrated and not that well-known despite being a mainstream Hollywood crime drama.El Gunner wrote:American Gangster
Loved this!!! 3 hours long, but keeps you interested all the way through. Denzel Washington is so tremendous!!! This will definitely make my list of favourite movies since 2000. Somewhere ahead of The Departed.

Re: The Movie House - Part 3
Early reviews about Ridley Scott's, Cormac McCarthy produced, The Counselor is disappointing to say the least.
This has disappointed me, because the trailers looked promising, and the cast plus the producer/writer McCarthy made this movie really watch-worthy and I thought it was really gonna be a hit. Doesn't look that way though.
I'll still watch it though and judge for myself.

Halfway through Heat at the moment, first time watching it in about 8 years. They don't make crime movies like this nowadays.

Re: The Movie House - Part 3
Thor was pretty good, should kill at the box office. However, in reality they should just turn this into a buddy movie starring Thor and Loki, because the movie just feels less significant when Loki isn't on screen. Man Huddlestone is such a goat actor

Classic. Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Val Kilmer, Natalie Portman, Jon Voight, Ashley Judd, Danny Trejo. A really intelligent crime movie.Firenze wrote:Halfway through Heat at the moment, first time watching it in about 8 years. They don't make crime movies like this nowadays.

Re: The Movie House - Part 3
The reviews have been scathing and I tend to agree with the reasons given by the critics, despite not having seen the film. The standard film where some guy comes up with a plan to take drugs across the Mexican border has been done so many times it is clichéd. That's not to say you can't do a great film with this subject matter, but there needs to be something very impressive to differentiate it from the rest. Apparently this film is just full of pointless dialogue and the story isn't really told well and that is something that is being said across the board. I look forward to seeing this film in the future to confirm my suspicions that the critics are right.El Gunner wrote:Early reviews about Ridley Scott's, Cormac McCarthy produced, The Counselor is disappointing to say the least.

Ironically, we were just discussing Heat, which is essentially a film about bank robbery. Typical crime film subject matter, but very impressively handled. There is depth in characters and in storyline. It's gritty and realistic, but also has some clear commentary on the "life of crime", especially evidenced in the conclusion to the film.

I just watched "Detachment"
Extremely dark, but what a movie. It's my favourite type and the exact opposite of your typical Hollywood movie.
I was in silence for 10 minutes after it was done. Best movie I've watched in 2013. 9/10
Amazing...I'll watch it again in a few days. It's too strong

Re: The Movie House - Part 3
The Big Lebowski
"Sometimes there's a man... I won't say a hero, 'cause, what's a hero? Sometimes, there's a man. And I'm talkin' about the Dude here - the Dude from Los Angeles. Sometimes, there's a man, well, he's the man for his time and place. He fits right in there. And that's the Dude. The Dude, from Los Angeles. And even if he's a lazy man - and the Dude was most certainly that. Quite possibly the laziest in all of Los Angeles County, which would place him high in the runnin' for laziest worldwide. Sometimes there's a man, sometimes, there's a man. Well, I lost my train of thought here. But... aw, hell. I've done introduced it enough."
That opening monologue is probably the best I've heard ever. That just killed it and everything that followed. Once I heard that. I knew, I just knew that this film was going to be amazing. There are pretty good starts and pretty good monologues in other pretty good films. But this one. This one from the narrator. This one from The Stranger. This one monologue to the opening of The Big Lebowski. Well... aw, I think I've done praised it enough.
I haven't probably laughed so much during a movie since The Hangover. The attitude and dialogues in this film is amazing and hilarious as feck. I watched Fargo (also by the Coen Bros.) the other day, and I didn't enjoy it that much. The Coen Bros. did in The Big Lebowski what they failed to do in Fargo. They made a brilliantly, funny, original movie. The 3 main actors fitted in perfectly. Jeff Bridges, John Goodman and Steve Buscemi. As well as John Turturro and Julianne Moore. They just killed it.
I want to say more, cuz I'm so full of praises atm but my mind just can't get it out into this post. I'm gonna watch it again some times soon. And probably again and again, for every year of the remainder of my lifetime. As of this moment, it is my 5th favourite film of all time.
My rating: 8.9/10

Yeah upset about The Counselor reviews. I was really looking forward to it. However I don't care for reviews so I might go see it anyway, but I'll probably wait to rent or watch online or something.
Would like to see Captain Phillips though. Tom Hanks I love him
