There are just far too many superhero movies these days. More often than not they are just big budget CGI shows with poor quality acting, predictable plot and awkward dialogue.

First Trailer for THE FIFTH ESTATE Starring Benedict Cumberbatch
The first trailer for director Bill Condon’s (Kinsey) WikiLeaks film The Fifth Estate has been released online. The film centers on the relationship between Daniel Domscheit-Berg (Daniel Brühl) and Julian Assange (Benedict Cumberbatch), as the story follows the early days of WikiLeaks, culminating in the release of a series of controversial and history changing information leaks. The trailer is premiering at a perfect time, with news continuing to arise about Eric Snowden and the NSA's breach of privacy. The film also stars Laura Linney, Anthony Mackie, David Thewlis, Peter Capaldi, Dan Stevens, Alicia Vikander, and Carice van Houten. The Fifth Estate opens on October 11th.
With the summer season coming to an end next month, we've started to get a good whif of the upcoming Oscar Season. The Venice and Toronto International Film Festivals will premiere some of the biggest heavyweights that will be duking it out for golden statues, but studios have already begun giving us a preview of exactly what they have coming down the pipe. In the last week alone we've seen the release of trailers for films like Saving Mr. Banks, Out of the Furnace, Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom and 12 Years A Slave (which also happened to feature Cumberbatch), and this Fifth Estate trailer definitely continues the trend.

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 Promo with First Footage of Electro
Sony Pictures is bringing The Amazing Spider-Man 2 to the San Diego Comic-Con and is showcasing a first look at Electro, played by Jamie Foxx. The panel for the sequel will take place in Hall H on Friday, July 19 at 4:05 p.m., but we first have this cool piece of content that was captured at the film's Comic-Con cage teasing the reveal! The Marc Webb-directed sequel hits theaters on May 2, 2014.
In The Amazing Spider-Man 2, for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can't come quickly enough. Peter hasn't forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen's father to protect her by staying away – but that's a promise he just can't keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.

Full Trailer for Idris Elba's MANDELA: LONG WALK TO FREEDOM
The Weinstein Company has released first trailer for director Justin Chadwick’s (The Other Boleyn Girl) biopic Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. The film stars Idris Elba and chronicles the life of Nelson Mandela from his childhood in a rural village to his election as president of South Africa. Elba is unsurprisingly fantastic, and the pic actually looks to take on a pretty large scope when tackling Mandela’s story. As far as biopics go, Long Walk to Freedom looks quite impressive. The film also stars Naomie Harris. Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom opens on November 29th.
The Weinstein Co. screened parts of the film for the United Nations General Assembly on Thursday as part of celebrations of Nelson Mandela International Day. Notable attendees included former U.S. President Bill Clinton; Rev. Jesse Jackson; singer and civil rights icon Harry Belafonte; U.N. General Assembly president John William Ashe; and Ban ki-moon, secretary-general of the U.N.
Mandela, who has been hospitalized with health issues, is showing signs of improvement, his daughter Zindzi said Wednesday. She reported her father has made "dramatic progress" and may be going home "anytime soon."

Full Trailer for Jon Turtletaub’s Comedy LAST VEGAS
CBS Films has released the full-length trailer for director Jon Turtletaub’s (National Treasure) new comedy Last Vegas starring Michael Douglas, Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman, and Kevin Kline. While the first teaser was actually pretty funny, this new trailer features some promising relationship interplay between the lifelong friends and the cast is certainly impressive, so here’s hoping there’s more to Last Vegas than wall-to-wall old-age jokes. The film also stars Mary Steenburgen, Jerry Ferrara, Romany Malco, and Roger Bart. Last Vegas opens on November 1st.
Synopsis: Billy (Academy Award®-winner Michael Douglas), Paddy (Academy Award®-winner Robert De Niro), Archie (Academy Award®-winner Morgan Freeman) and Sam (Academy Award®-winner Kevin Kline) have been best friends since childhood. So when Billy, the group’s sworn bachelor, finally proposes to his thirty-something (of course) girlfriend, the four head to Las Vegas with a plan to stop acting their age and relive their glory days. However, upon arriving, the four quickly realize that the decades have transformed Sin City and tested their friendship in ways they never imagined. The Rat Pack may have once played the Sands and Cirque du Soleil may now rule the Strip, but it’s these four who are taking over Vegas.

Warner Bros. Planning SUPERMAN/BATMAN Team Up in MAN OF STEEL in 2015, FLASH in 2016 and JUSTICE LEAGUE in 2017
After decades of fighting evil solo, Batman and Superman will finally be teaming up on the big screen, multiple sources confirm to The Hollywood Reporter. Warner Bros is expected to announce at its Hall H panel that as the follow-up to Man of Steel, it is pairing two of the most recognizable superheroes in the world for a one-two punch that will be directed by Zack Snyder.
Henry Cavill will reprise his role as Superman but it is unclear who will play Batman in the new film. A release date of 2015 has been set, with tentative plan for a Flash movie appearing in 2016 and a Justice League movie in 2017, sources said. David Goyer, who co-wrote Man of Steel, will write the script. Rumors of the team-up movie have been circulating Comic-Con for a couple of days.

New International Trailer for Luc Besson's THE FAMILY
The previously-released trailer for Luc Besson’s The Family (still titled Malavita overseas) promised a dark, quirky action-comedy along the lines of Analyze This. This new international cut provides a decidedly more serious tone and almost comes across as a straight-up mob movie. The Family centers on the Manzoni family, who are relocated to France as part of the Witness Protection program, but soon find that old habits die hard. Starring Robert De Niro, Tommy Lee Jones, Michelle Pfeiffer and Dianna Agron, The Family opens stateside on September 13th.
Synopsis: The darkly comedic action film The Family is the story of the Manzonis, a notorious mafia family who gets relocated to Normandy, France under the witness protection program. While they do their best to fit in, old habits die hard and they soon find themselves handling things the “family” way.

2nd Teaser for THE COUNSELOR is Sexy, Thrilling and Dangerous
It's not often that you see a trailer as shot through with dread and ominousness as this second look at The Counselor. This new teaser trailer packs about as much "This is all going to go horrifically wrong" as can fit into just over one minute. The sense that only bad things are coming starts immediately, with Michael Fassbender telling Penelope Cruz, "I intend to love you until I die." To which she replies, "Me first." So when a motorcyclist meets a grisly fate and supporting players start dropping voiceover knowledge, it's just confirmation that The Counselor is playing rough.
But what else would you expect? After all, this is Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist Cormac McCarthy's first feature screenplay. The American treasure who wrote Blood Meridian, No Country For Old Men, and The Road isn't exactly going to serve up a sweet little romantic comedy. Directing is Ridley Scott, a big-time helmer known for his visual sense but not a tendency to be warm and cuddly. All this is secondary to the fact that The Counselor looks really, really good.
Michael Fassbender, who worked with Scott on Prometheus, stars as the protagonist. The combination of Scott and McCarthy attracted top-level actors across the board, with Brad Pitt, Javier Bardem, Penelope Cruz, Javier Bardem, Natalie Dormer, Dean Norris, Rosie Perez, Goran Visnjic, and John Leguizamo all showing up in the film. The Counselor is set to open nationwide on October 25th.

Even DC aren't going to cross a star over into another role for a movie that will still have a GL in it (though perhaps not Hal Jordan). Too much confusion among potential audience members.

They have to reboot GL in order to do a JL movie tbh....It's Kyle Raynor's turn now I'd say. Cast a lesser known, but rising star cast this time (including the director and writer) and see what happens.
Still holding out for a John Stewart movie though.

Will definitely be a hit, but that won't stop it from being dubbed the "Geriatric Hangover"...which it probably already has been called.
It'll do for comedies what "Red" and "Red 2" does for action movies though among older folks.
