Not as good as Black Hawk Down for me but it's a must see if you enjoy those types of movies.

There is a scene when Alexander Ludwig saying the Navy Seal moto. Really gives you the goosebumps that part.
Really didn't enjoy Black Hawk Down tbh
Black Hawk Down is one of those films that is meant to be uncomfortable rather than enjoyable.

I know. It's an intense war film. And I usually enjoy those type of films.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that it wasn't that good to me.

Bana is in it for maybe 5 minutes screentime total Laughing

stop hyping him ffs

Decent actor though, have you seen Hanna?

Come at me brah bounce

He's better than decent cmon Firenze. His playing of Hector in Troy is stupendous. Absolutely catches the essence of the role.

And yeah of course I've seen Hanna, good movie.

Dallas Buyers Club was phenomenal.

I haven't watched 12 years a slave, seen people throwing around that guys name for the best actor oscar favourite..I find it hard to believe anyone in contention can top Mcconaughey's performance. I'll have to see that.

The transvestite's actor should be a contender for the best supporting actor too. Right up there with Mcconaughey's performance.

Edit: that was Jared Leto?  Shocked

Got around to finally watching The Wolf of Wall Street. Holy shit I cannot remember the last time I laughed so hard in a movie theater. I had no clue this was comedy  DiCaprio is f*cking amazing. McConaughey is magnificent in his cameo role. The movie is half porn ffs  Literally shows a$$, tits and c*nt left and right.

9/10 f*cking loved it. MUST watch. It's super long though, Took like 3 hours.

And throughout the movie I was trying so hard to figure out where I had seen the blonde bombshell that plays DiCaprio's second wife. Just realized I just watched her in About Time a couple of days ago. Laughing She is hot as frak

I agree completely. It was hilarious. If you guys aren't fans of raunchy humour though, don't go see it. Several elderly couples that probably didn't know that it was a comedy to begin with left within the first 30 minutes in my theatre Laughing

Strange that McConaughey is listed as one of the stars given that he's only in it for like 10 minutes. Great 10 minutes though haha.

Watched the Man with the Iron Fists

6/10 is my rating for it.

Pretty well done by the RZA. As always, he puts down awesome tracks for his movies and this was no different. The acting though....he should probably stick to directing, producing, recording, rapping...etc...just not acting.

Great turn from Russell Crowe naturally. Easily the star of the movie. His performance was pretty effortless. My favorite character of the movie? I'm going with Lucy Liu as Madam Blossom. She's still got it.

The Wolf of Wall Street was good, hilarious. Personally think the third hour and final stretch wasn't as good as the previous two, but still a top 5 movie of the past 5 years.

I guess not since it surprised me a little, but I went into it not sure what to expect, originally I thought it was going to be be a drama..but then the trailer threw me off. Personally I think it walked the comedy line perfectly, I mean it was outrageous but it never felt too OOT..even though events of the movie clearly were. It was pretty perfect.

I know it will never happen but Scorsese should make a sequel of some sort with Mcconaughey's character, even though I guess Dicaprio was that character in overdrive mode.

Also Dicaprio's second wife is now one of my favourite actresses, don't know if I've seen her in anything else. They need to make a hottest actress oscar just for her IMO.

Post by El Gunner Thu 9 Jan 2014 - 9:18

You guys need to stop talking about TWOWS ffs, okay. I'm getting too excited and anxious to see it.

300
If ever there's a movie that puts the debate to rest that a very good stroyline isn't needed to make a very good movie, it's Zack Snyder's 300. Brilliant visuals, sound effects and CGI is what this film is mainly about. Direction was great. Not to discredit the acting though, Gerard Butler was pretty good as well as the other cast members. So many cool battle scenes and that f*cking "God" is huge Shocked. All in all it is a good fast paced and enjoyable movie.
My rating: 8.1/10

Heat
Classic. Classic. Classic.
Probably the best all-out-action film ever made. I don't know where to start, because everything was just nailed head on. You see the main actors - Pacino and De Niro - and then you know shits gonna go down and it's gonna be great. You add Val Kilmer, who imo was just as good as Pacino and De Niro in this film, and get more greatness. He doesn't speak a lot in the film, but you can feel his emotion and recklessness through his actions. The direction is pretty dead on. Brilliant work by Michael Mann. The story couldn't be any better as well. Almost 3 hours long, but so action-packed and edge of the seat stuff throughout the film, that you can't even think about the possibility of getting bored. The scene where Pacino and De Niro sit at the restaurant and talk puts the debate to rest imo that De Niro is the better actor. He f*cking killed it in that scene. It was awesome. Oh and the bank robbery  it is so hyped and many say it is the best bank robbing scene of all time and I kinda doubted I would like it that much when I finally saw the film, but I liked it. It was terrific. The sound in the background when the bank robbery scene begins  the actual robbing of the bank  the shootout between the cops and robbers
From that scene the film just stepped up another level and never dropped back again. The end is very good and also full of suspense. If you haven't watched this yet, you don't know what action films are all about.
My rating: 8.7/10
