yeah it seems he has such a clause in his contract, frracking cant beleive such a high amount.
fahim, actually i thought he was bought for so cheap like, 4-5mi, from olympiakos, wrong logic. If BR has in his mind to develop him as DM and a versatile player, it makes sense to buy him.

Some quotes from a recent Webchat of James Pearce of Echo:

On Reina, Pearce says BR would want him to stay, but a bid from Barca likely. Vorm liked, but a number of other keepers also watched.

Wilson, Pacheco, Carroll, Assaidi, Spearing, Coates should all leave this summer, says Pearce.

On Skrtel, Pearce says Rodgers wants him to stay but Skrtel will consider his options.

After interviewing Tom Werner earlier in the week, Pearce says that FSG are clearly satisfied about the way the club is progressing. They know that the club have shown 'top 4 form' over the second half of the season, and are keen to back him this summer.

Fahim doing multiple posts! That too on a weekday!!

I have a feeling that none of the names floating around will be signed. However I think whoever we sign will be signed early. (may be it's because I got no clue about the names floating around).

I'm sooooooo excited about the Tiago Ilori rumors. Only saw him play once when Sporting beat our youngsters in NExtGen (same game Teixeiro beasted us before we signed him). I think this kid can develop really well.

Amazing that some of you don't rate Papadopoulos when he's considered to be a very impressive player AND prospect by those that watched him regularly before his extended injury break. I haven't, so can't really comment, but it seems telling that when Williams was the main target he was consistently put down and now that Papadopoulos is getting attention he's suddenly not rated...

Is Wilson out of contract or is he getting sold?

Funny that one really. Rafa and Rangers rated him both highly, he moved to Liverpool and then just lost it.

Don't see it. We have Johnson, Wilson and Flanagan that can all play there. Oh, and Martin Kelly.

Speak for yourselves. I'm all for this move. He's real good. Razz Although yeah, I never rated Williams. Still don't want him here.

As for Papadopoulos, he is class genuinely mate. He's been arguably the best prospect to come out of Greece since he was 16 years of age. He's well known as he had many suitors before and after moving to Schalke.

He has great positioning but not sure if he'll be capable to play with Rodgers' high line. He's comfortable with the ball in his feet, but he's not really quick. He's a bit similiar to Skrtel where he's dominant in the air and great in the air. He's a no-nonsense type. He can play the "sweeper" role; so Jamie Carragher's role aswell. I've already mentioned earlier that he can play as a defensive midfielder too. I think Milan wanted Papa to replace Thiago Silva so you can see the faith that Milan had in him. Unfortunately they couldn't afford him. Their loss can be our gain.

I'd feel better about the Papadopolous rumours if acquiring him didn't mean replacing Skrtel, but oh well.

He'll cost huge, is young and inexperienced. Williams on the other hand is a leader at the back. I want experience in this team.

I certainly dont rate him as high as fracking 15 mi, dt is even more in euros. After his injury he still has not recovered his pace, If we buy him right now, he has to play more and more football to get to his best in next season. So after paying 15 mi, if we are not sure whether we want him to play week in-out, dere is no point in buying him.

If you want to get what I am saying, see today's SC Freiburg vs Schalke match at 3.30 german time.

True. But the season is three months away that's good time to get a player to his full fitness.

I used to sign this guy for free :-)

both Coutinho and Sturridge were underachieving/in bad-form and dealing with injuries in their previous clubs when we bought them Proud

Ilori  This is very good news. Hopefully we get this kid and obviously a more experienced CB. I would love either of Papa or Alderweireld.

I've only seen Ilori play once and that was a couple of years ago against our reserves. He stood out from the rest of their defenders in calmness and composure (kind of like Varane). Also supposedly he's very quick, I read an article about him beating all sorts of Sporting spring records in training. His speed would be perfect next to Agger or Skrtel. Also he's good in the air at 6'3.

Papa is obviously very young, same with Alderweireld, but they've played a lot matches already for their previous teams and NTs, so they've got some sort of experienced as opposed to Ilori who hasn't really hit the stride in his career yet.

Coutinho and Sturridge are forwards and the mistakes they might commit won't be game changing. On the other hand, when you're paying 15m for a CB, he is expected to be perfect.
