Re: March Madness
I think Kentucky look absolutely ridiculous.
But if there has really ever been a year for us, it's now. Wisconsin is taking it this year
Feels good to actually be a part of the team now too
Kaminsky for MVP, Wisconsin for NCAA title.

Re: March Madness
So happy we (Fordham) picked Eric Paschall up, we really have hope for the future with seven freshmen.
He dropped 31 points and 10 rebs in his freshmen debut at home and now holds the record for most points in a collegiate debut at Fordham. It was against a D2 team but either way he beasted. We haven't had this type of talent in a long time so hopefully one year we can make the tournament.
Either way if Fordham does bad I can just support UCONN since I'm from CT

Re: March Madness
that time of year again
Kentucky ran through sht all year, 32-0, can they continue it in the tournament?
#1 seeds? Kentucky, Duke, Wisconsin, Villanova/Virginia?
Really haven't followed the regular season since it's been a rough one for UConn. We were basically dead in the water and not gonna make the NCAAT unless we won the conference tourney with 4 games in 4 days. Well we got 3/4, but tomorrow is all that matters.
1 more pls

Ah well no NCAAT, good to let someone else get a shot anyway
Gonna be rooting for
-Anyone who plays Kentucky
But I'd like to see either Wisconsin, Arizona or Virginia win it all.

Re: March Madness
You want Wisconsin to win.
I'm not so sure about us though. I don't think we've dominated enough games from beginning to finish to feel confident about us winning the whole thing. We also have only faced one really good team and that's Duke...who we lost to. Maryland is pretty good too...and we lost to them as well.
We have shown glimpses of being able to really turn it on (the end of the Big 10 final ) but we're too inconsistent for me.
I think we have the talent to get to the final four but it will be tough. Likely going to have to go through Oregon, UNC and Arizona just to get there, and Kentucky just to get to the final. I'm not expecting to win it but I really hope we have a good run. Would be insane to be in Madison if we reach the final four or the final, regardless of if we were to win it all.
Regardless I'm really looking forward to it this year.

Re: March Madness
I'm looking forward to watching it as a neutral without being a nervous wreck every UConn game day
Just some thoughts since I didn't watch all these teams this year, but:
- think Villanova is the first 1 seed to lose.
- Cincinnati is capable of giving UK a game in that 2nd game, assuming they get by Purdue. I think they and Notre Dame are the two teams that have a shot in their bracket.
- I'm tempted to put ISU in the F4 but I think Gonzaga makes it out of that region. If they can get past that ISU/SMU winner... they can definitely beat Duke.
- Having Arizona as their 2 is rough for Wisc but besides them and UNC the rest of it is very winnable.

Nobody is talking?
Starting off with a bang like every year.
UCLA, Georgia St., close games even with Northeastern vs Notre Dame
Love this tournament even though I don't care about college basketball

Re: March Madness
Yeah, I don't really get it. But most users from overseas don't have connections to colleges like us over here so it's harder for them to get into it compared to NBA.
But this is the most exciting weekend in sports imo.
Awesome. Lucky it worked out for them because they should've went for the layup. Great shot though.
Their coach in the background as it went in :lol

Re: March Madness
A day late, but Baylor ffs
Bracket was good for all of an hour, just like millions of others.
Anyway, my final four is: Kentucky, Villanova, Gonzaga and Wisconsin.
Picking Villanova to win it. Kentucky will go all the way, but will fall at the last hurdle. History demands it.

Re: March Madness
Heard about this watching the first half now before I have to run but hilarious segment. No surprise, LWT is great.
And yeah the NCAA is an absolute joke. Mark Emmert is the worst.
Glad Shabazz helped athletes get unlimited meals. Too bad he graduated before he could enjoy it
There's numerous examples like the Rick Majerus/Utah thing, pathetic. Where very petty, minute things are penalized, but other more egregious violations ignored.
It's gonna be very interesting to see what happens to North Carolina because what they did is pretty much a mockery of college athletics. 48% of their student athletes the last decade took fake classes.

That's tough Baylor out right away (picked them for the sweet sixteen...grr), and then picking Villanova to win it all.
I was never convinced by Villanova, though I don't think anyone saw them playing that badly. Missed most of the game but heard they shot like 29% or something. NC State is a good team though, they can be a threat going forward.
I wasn't really impressed with Wisconsin in either of our first two games, but we won and survived, and that's what's important. We tend to play down/play up to teams and we've played some pretty good teams and won, so I'm confident. I think UNC will be tough though because I rate them. I would have liked to see us blow teams out but I guess it's good to not get complacent too. Still, Oregon was too close at times.
On Wisconsin!

Villanova.....there are no words.
You'd think I'd put my money on Kentucky at this point, but I just don't think it's on the cards for them this year. Call me dramatic.
Throwing my weight behind Arizona now, but they haven't really faced a stiff challenge yet. Have swept aside each of their opponents so far with ease.
My very own Michigan State are in with a shout as well. Izzo's got those boys in tournament mode for sure now. Didn't have them going through Virginia.

Apparently I have more faith in your boys than you do, had them going through Virginia.
By throwing your weight behind Arizona you meant behind Wisconsin surely, right?

Me neither. I think Wiscy or Zona can beat them, possibly Gonzaga too from what I've seen. Not as convinced that WVU can beat them tonight as some other people but they will give UK problems with their backcourt.
Tonight I'm rooting for Wichita State, Wisconsin, WVU and Arizona.
Re: March Madness
What a game. Heart palpitations and nerves all over. UNC scared me before the game and that's why. We won without playing that well again...sign of a champion or luck? Or are we just not that good? Not sure.
Whatever it is, we're in the elite eight
I've been hating on Dekker the entire year but he's coming up big this tournament and playing well.
Lets go Xavier. I don't wanna face Arizona

Re: March Madness
Wish the potential Arizona-Wisconsin matchup would be saved for the Final four, not the Elite Eight, but from a neutral perspective that's the game I want to see.
Also WVU is just getting destroyed by UK. 40-15 bah gawd

Looks like we'll get it in the elite eight then.
If we can get our shit together I'm confident. If not...I fear for Wisconsin.

Re: March Madness
Gonzaga too much for UCLA. Karnowsky with a huge game. Made his size count. Bruins had no answer for him. First Elite 8 berth for Zags in over 20 years.
Louisville with so much power and speed on the break. NC State had real chances to take control of the game, but Louisville simply outlasted them. Great run from the Wolfpack. Rozier was fantastic for the Cards, but I wonder about that back injury he suffered.
Didn't stay up to watch the Spartans, but something told me they'd find a way past Oklahoma. They're in straight up tournament mode. Louisville are an entirely different proposition though.

Re: March Madness
I favor MSU over Louisville. I don't find this Louisville team all that impressive. The fact that MSU also took down Oklahoma when shooting broke from three for much of the game and continuing to be a bad free throw shooting team makes it more impressive.
Didn't realize they were this good, but like you said, Izzo has them in tournament mode. Should be a good game either way.
Can't wait for the game today. Just once can we please have all three of Dekker, Kaminsky and Hayes show up? Those three show up and we play our fundamental no turnover no foul game and I favor us to beat anyone.

Re: March Madness
I thought that NC State was more talented overall but Pitino is a great coach and Gottfried is an ordinary one. MSU-Louisville is going to be a low scoring gritty game, I'll go with MSU.
The #7 recruit in country, who's from Wisconsin btw, chose Maryland over home state school Wisconsin and UConn. If he didn't come to UConn, I would've at least preferred he stayed home and went to Wisconsin. Maryland is Under Armour sponsored just like his AAU team though, likely had something to do with it.

Re: March Madness
I'm in Madison obviously and going to school there so what I've heard definitely could be biased but apparently one reason is that he had to get his grades up for Wisconsin and Diamond Stone is an idiot.
I would have liked having a home grown player playing for a year or two with Wisconsin (assuming he wouldn't stay much longer) so we could have a team that could have another go of it next year but unfortunately that won't happen now. We'll go back to being just a 'good' team next year. Maryland building a great team though.
However I'm happy to see him go somewhere else if it maintains the integrity of the Wisconsin program. Bo and Wisconsin would never tolerate fake classes and make a mockery of the student athlete. The guys on Wisconsin are real student athletes and some are definitely quite smart (Nigel Hayes who has been making some humorous off the court headlines is one). I'm proud of that and would rather that than having someone stupid like Diamond Stone.
That being said, I don't know the whole story and I wish him luck.
Amazing how many players slip through our hands. JP Tokoto who lost to Wisconsin the other day with UNC is also from Wisconsin. Enough talent in and around the state to be a good team every year and yet we just don't seem to have the pull.
Part of the reason why a national championship this year would be a big thing.

I'm reading now he got a 13 on his ACT : o . Probably would've had to sit out a year at most schools.
