Nature Boy. What was your nickname before you changed it to base it on a 93 year old man who can't retire gracefully?

Seriously who are you?

IT's pretty obvious that OSvaldo and Balo lacked chemistry and tbh they are the same type of player so they can't combine. One has to be sub for the other. MAtri should have played at least 10 mins he is on fire 7 goals in 11 games plus 2-3 assists for a CF like matri that's amazing

Yeah son Monto and Pirlo are two people who want to do the same thing. Marchisio whether as a ss or a CM is vital for Italia.

thanks for the well wishes arq. and yes, im back to being a regular poster. My new job (and search for a job beforehand) had me all sorts of busy. lurked alot though.

To the point of Gila on form again. It is true but I would waste a roster slot on him. Hes older, slower, and not as efficient in front of goal as he used to be. His passing has always been underrated (no look reverse pass to ADP in the dying seconds of 06 semis against germany speaks for itself). However, I feel this way about Matri. the game against Celtic he had very dangerous flicks and one touch passing at the top of the area, and ahs been doing it all time as vidal, marchisio, and gio rush on.

Hes been getting alot of hockey assists. If we are looking for someone to do a role like Gila can, I believe the younger, stronger, faster, more potent Matri is the better decision.

Father I've craved seeing Marchisio in a more advanced role for Juve and especially La Nazionale. His midfield work is undisputed for both but you can't help but feel how well he would do as an SS or even TQ since he was reborn 3 years ago. With Lippi he played a left-sided attacking midfielder in a 4-3-1-2 (Lippi  ) so we cannot judge him there along with the fact that 4-3-1-2 is his WORST formation since he has little freedom to play how he desires.

He should be tried in an attacking position in a 3-5-2 (for Juve & italia) playing an advanced role, for instance. His close control is TOO good not to be tested there and his final ball gets better every year. I'm sure I saw him play SS once or twice and he may not continue due to his awful finishing, but I hope Prandelli tries it for Italia.

Um, historically we're even with Argentina and in the last ten years we've been a little better than them.

Good to hear Alex.

As for Gila I am in no disagreement with you. My debate only pertains that the inclusion of Gila shouldn't be as puzzling as inclusions such as the 4 GKs Prandelli calls up for example as Gila has evolved his game in Bologna (or Pioli is using him well) into more of an SS, utilizing his pin-point passing, not to forget Gila's understated performances for us. I DO agree though, that he shouldn't have any place within la Nazionale due to the fact that he is 34 , old and slow and nowhere near a long term option for Italia. Matri should be tried out indeed as I agreed earlier on his ability to clinch a clutch goal, which is typical of Matri and it can transcend onto for the Azzuri.

Fact is Prandelli isn't looking to play with targetmen such as Osvaldo OR Matri. Mostly it has been composed of free-roaming SS who create chances for each other and while the finishing is a CONTINUOUS problem, it results in a fantastic amount of chances created. You can see by his system how he desires mobility and consistent creation in the final third which has its ups and downs, but its a mark of his thought process for the team.

Recently we've pushed him up next to Vucinic as they have devestating link-up play.

I've said for over 2 years he could eventually go on to play as a TQ and Conte eventually agreed. Proud

Marchisio has great dribbling under pressure, ever improving finishing and he really can play like a number 10.

That could also be good for the team, with Marchisio up with Vuci, you could deploy Pogba in Marchisio's old role hmm

I think by the time WC14 comes around they (Balo and Shaarawy) would have developed even more chemistry and Italy would be set.
