Re: The Lionel Messi Appreciation Thread & Fan Club
Messi should move to a team which can realistically win the CL. Real Madrid, Buyern, Chelsea can afford him, I think.

Yes Messi had a poor game but the blame should lie on the rest of the team as with all the attention he receive's they should be able to produce much more then they have. I mean we are talking about some of the best players in the world who get 1 vs 1's all game long while Messi has 3-4 players on him all game.
Against top teams and top players you can't expect Messi to beat the odds and save Barca every game. Some of these other superstars need to start earning there paycheck's.
This.
Messi literally had a crowd on him the whole night. Can't really fault him for not doing anything.
The other players needs to step up. However, easier said than done. Iniesta, Xavi and Fabregas are all useless in front of goal.

Yes, but two things: lack of effort, and lots of what in tennis you'd call unforced errors. How can you not fault him for those things?

Its not about Messi being crowed, but it was his attitude and the fact he did literally nothing to contribute. He walked around most the match.

Re: The Lionel Messi Appreciation Thread & Fan Club
Messi being crowded is a stupid excuse anyway. Villa said after the game they were instructed to keep a close eye on Iniesta, not Messi. Messi has players on his ass because he doesn't understand the concept of movement. When you just stand around until you get ball to feet it's obviously easier for defenders to close you down.

notsureifserious.
Messi had to drop down into midfield just to get the ball, and even then, Tiago and the other midfielders were on his case as soon as he received it. Iniesta never had that kind of attention all night.

What unforced errors are you talking about? The two misses? Losing the ball due to being overcrowded?

Re: The Lionel Messi Appreciation Thread & Fan Club
Messi doesn't move around due to lack of Stamina which forces Messi to lower his work rate. Can't expect Messi to move around the entire game nowadays. What annoys me is that some people believe that the reason for his low work rate is influenced by the World Cup. But really, Messi's all talent and slight athleticism.

Under Pep in his first 3 season, or so Messi had really good work rate and did a lot of work on and off the ball. Now he's just a shell of that.

Re: The Lionel Messi Appreciation Thread & Fan Club
I wouldnt blame Messi but I get it that he probably could have put in more effort. I dotn understand tho9ugh ppl not considering just hwo well Atletico crowded him out instantly, as soon as he touched the ball in this match, someone was right onto him, he just no time or chance to link up. He did drop back and move around to change things, but maybe he just got fed u por thought he needed to be up front to convert, etc... any top player would struggle in this situation, unless ur a physical tall striker type.

Been easily the best player of 2014. If Cronaldo can win it with winning absolutely nothing, Messi is currently lock on 2014 Ballon d'Or.M99 wrote:Needs the World Cup (and a good November) to have a chance to win Balon D Or.

CR did not shine much in 2014 either, while bar ATM Messi did good in tough games, like the game where they played RM where CR did not play... oh wait he played but did nothing!

It's insane how much better team mates Cronaldo has. They can win Barca without him no problem. Now imagine Messi playing with Madrid instead.

Re: The Lionel Messi Appreciation Thread & Fan Club
Looks like Messi is a member of the CR fan club judging from that picture
Anyway I feel for Messi, he's been a victim of bad management. It doesn't excuse his lack of effort recently but in the grander scheme of things that has been a symptom of something bigger not the disease itself.

Why do they let that pitch invader so close to Messi?

The only thing currently worse than Messi's form is wearing a cap with a suit.

Just because he is the almighty Balon d'Or winner and wears the title "Best Player In the World". Hence why he can invade any pitch without the slightest of trouble.
The world pays it respects to the GOAT CR.

Assuming you could afford the suit Cristiano is wearing you would still wear that hat if a company offered you money to wear it.
