Bayern are still favorites
Dont be fooled from this game.
They were in a tricky situation.
Imo, they played well if only they could take chances.
I want them to win the CL because they represent football in all areas.
Viel Glück!

Re: Bayern are still favorites
Still? It was never in question in my opinion. Even though i want Juve to win it, i see Bayern as the favorites. They dominated even this game, with 20 chances the problem was they couldnt put any of them away, and against a very attacking Arsebal side limited them to only 5 chances the whole game with alot of Bayerns starters missing. It just so happenned that Arsenal put 2 goals in from 5 chances while Bayern couldnt put 1 in from 20, which is very unlike them. Not to mention Bayern were overconfident, and Robben had a horribly off day, probably because hes trying to get his starting spot back so all he cared about was scoring.

@juventus
I hate idiots like you when u say Bayern starters missing. How about Arsenal's Sagna, Wilshere, Podolski, there you have our core of the team.

Relax. Sagna has been crap this season (compared to his usual standards at least) and Jenkinson put in a great game, even won a one on one against Robben which at this point i dont see Sagna doing. Podolski and Wilshere were missing yes, and thats big, but you think thats as big as Ribery, Schweinsteiger, and Boateng (plus Badstuber)? I actually like Arsenal. Theyrr my preferred English team actually. But Bayern were obviously missing more. Add to that Bayerns overconfidence, and yet still they dominated the game.

Re: Bayern are still favorites
Bayern vs Juventus would be interesting. Bayern would be facing a solid defense. Also Bayern vs Barca, possession vs possession. How they'd probably concede possession like they did in the first leg vs Arsenal.

I have considered them favourites since the group stage and still do tbh.
Although if Barca can keep the level up showed against Milan to a semi consistent level then i can't see anyone topping them but if their level drops even a little bit i would consider Bayern above them and probably Madrid too.
The reason i consider them favourites is because they have shown this season they can be consistent i'm not confident Barca can.

Bayern's core players are major bottlers when it matters: Schweinsteiger, Lahm, Gomez and Robben in particular. They will crash out in the next round.

Well I am sure your not alone, some might consider them favourites...however, I dont think it was generally accepted they were favourites anymore than anyone else.
Bayern are good, but have choker in them. Untill they prove different, I will always be suspect of them.

Exactly that was the problem. They missed about half a dozen sitters, which was their undoing.juventus101 wrote: But Bayern were obviously missing more. Add to that Bayerns overconfidence, and yet still they dominated the game.

Re: Bayern are still favorites
Arsenal missing Wilshere is like Barcelona missing Messi at this point. He runs everything, starts attacks and gets back to defend. Plus this was Gibbs first game back since January, so don't tell me Bayern missed more key players than us
Robben should learn to hit the targetrwo power wrote:They missed about half a dozen sitters.

This.
Bayern is pretty weak at the back too. Against a great offense, they will crumble like a house of cards.

It really depends on the draw. There are certain teams that are nightmares for other teams.

Agree. Bastian didn't even have the nerve to watch the penalty last year in the CL final, I was 100% certain he wouldn't convert his.

Re: Bayern are still favorites
I disagree about Bastian being a choker. He scored the crucial final penalry against Real Madrid last year and put in an excellent performance in the final, in which they lost on penalties which is a lottery. Bastian missed his but its not like he didnt put in a great shot, it just hit the post. Also, about Bayerns defense being weak, they have the best defensive record in the world i believe and they were missing Boateng last night, plus have been missing Badstuber for a while now. Especially with another big gun in Barcelona having a far worse defense, i dont think we shouls criticize Bayerns defense.

Cech touched it onto the post
Shweni is a great player but on the big occassions i think its nerves which lead to him psyching himself out

Re: Bayern are still favorites
I disagree. Look at the Real game right before the penalties, he was gicing a speech ti.his players. Hes a real leader and not a choker at all, he just had one bad shot but its not his fault the rest of his team choked. Boateng for exanple you could say chokesD. Completely lost Drogba for the leveler in the 88th minute.

Re: Bayern are still favorites
Bayern's just glad that English sides are out. They keep dominating them but always struggle to score against them. lol. Think that's Bayern's first loss in 20 games or so. Their feet should be back on the ground after today. Can still see them lifting the trophy at the end of it.
Sorry RG, but I still stand by what I said. Really didn't see any intent on Arsenal winning it until Kos scored. Even then, you gave sloppy fouls away. Not too sure why your most dangerous threat in Walcott came off the pitch for Gervinho either. An eye on the Swansea game, perhaps?

Re: Bayern are still favorites
What is this talk about nerves?
Yesterday's problem was the opposite of nerves. Bayern were too relaxed and complacent, not too nervous. They hardly moved at all, they tried to coast through the tie, and that's what made it dangerous in the first place. They obviously didn't take Arsenal seriously, that was the only problem. Never seen their offense move so little this season.
Their offense was so lazy, it was almost like watching Brazilians over 25.

Re: Bayern are still favorites
Excuses here are pathetic.
-Bayern missed their squad? Well Arsenal were without Sagna, Wilshere and Podolski.
-Bayern missed sitters? Sitters are open goals, I didn't see any. Arsenal missed 2 sitters along with a wrongly offside call which would have let to a one on one with Neuer
-Bayern lazy? Yes cause Arsenal had so much incentive in trying to overturn a 3 goal deficit. More excuses
-Schweinsteiger a leader? Mark van Bommel is laughing at this. There is no leader in Bayern bar Neuer and Javi when he actually learns to speak Deutsch.
-Barca are the best team in the world. Not Bayern.

this. everyone who has followed bayern for more than two years knows that this is exactly how they have done it for years. on many occassions in europe as well as in germany they thought it would be best just to do whats required - and ultimately had success with it. you will rarely find a top-team that will demonstrate so much neglect and arrogance at this stage and get away with it. if this behaviour shocks you then you don't know much about bayern munich..
