Re: David De Gea
Unbelievable performance by him today! MOTM today, just for his 2 saves in the 2nd half. Just edged Rio today for me!

Re: David De Gea
To put in a MOTM performance in probably the most pressuring game for a newly arrived player.
Wow, this kid is going to be one of the great.

How many chances can United give De Gea?
The discussion is interesting me a lot. Im from denmark and a big fan of Lindegaard. United always have fantastic goalkeepers but this season De Gea doesn't meet the expectations and maybe Lindegaard should be given a fair chance to prove Ferguson wrong? What does the fans think? You believe 100% in Sir Alex?? De Gea is 20 years of age.. Too young to guard Uniteds last defense??

Re: David De Gea
I like Lindegaard, but De Gea looks more like a big team keeper to me.
On another note,I thought De Gea transfer was wrong from the beggining.Overpaid, extremely young, switching lifestyle and leagues,it may be too much to bear with.Still think De Gea will come out on top though.

Re: David De Gea
In terms of talent i agree 100% De Gea is superior.. In terms on current level I favor Lindegaard. Its funny you say De Gea looks like a "big team keeper" coz i think the exact opposite.. Lindegaard looks sharp and focused, De Gea looks nervous and shaky.. But thats probably just me

Re: David De Gea
Lindegaard is better at making the easier saves, for example, catching the ball from crosses. De Gea is better at making spectacular saves. Lindegaard I think can also command his area better than De Gea. Although, for raw talent De Gea is better, and when he's on form and has games like the Liverpool and Stoke match, he's sometimes worth the mistakes because of the really great saves he makes.
I think De Gea's ceiling is higher than Lindegaard, therefore the rewards would be much higher in the long-term if we keep him in goal.

Still think we shouldn't have bought him. He will leave for Spain eventually tbh. The dude makes too many basic errors.

Id imagine Real Madrid to sign him from Athletico in 2012 if it wasn't for United..

Re: David De Gea
He's been MOTM a few times already, like against Liverpool.
I like him and think he will come good.
"Small" mistakes are easier to erase than teaching how to make spectacular saves, which he already does.
He would be better helped if he had a stable defense in front of him, not some uncoordinate random shift between the available defenders.

Re: David De Gea
OP, with all due respects, I don't know what you're on about. DDG has been brilliant for us this season barring his first two games for the club.
Some of the saves he has pulled, for a GK his age, especially at the game v LFC, have been outstanding. Sure he will make the odd mistake, and at times his lack of experience will cost us( see Benfica's 2nd goal at OT), but with young gifted players like him, perserverance is key, and imo, in 2 or 3 years time, he will be amongts the best keepers in the world.
Lindegaard is a great keeper, but he is gonna have to make due with being no.2. We didn't fork out 17 mill for a subtitute keeper in DDG. I am just happy we have 2 quality keepers at the club.

Goalkeeper Thread
Well, we have just lost Lindegaard for a month. It's a big blow, considering now we have two inexperienced goalkeepers, one of which has suffered from the English game. I know de Gea has played Europa League games and a substantial amount of La Liga games, but he still lacks experience, in that sense. He may not be available for Sunday. And, well, Amos has looked fairly solid in the two games he has featured in this season, but to throw him in to a big, crucial fixture isn't going to do him good unless he performs amazingly well.

Re: David De Gea
You know this season is unbelievable so far with the amount of injuries we keep getting. You know it's bad when even both keepers in the team are out injured. It's really ridiculous atm.
Anyways, Amos imo should be fine on Sunday. Even if DDG is available, he should be able to get through this game...considering that Chelsea don't have any physical presence in the team for Sunday..plus they play through the middle without relying on crosses too much.
I have belief that Amos should be fine against them on Sunday.

Re: David De Gea
The funny thing is, no one has questioned our medical staff just yet, even though we have had a lot of injuries over the the past few seasons, partly down to injuries on the field, partly because of injuries off the field.
I believe we should stick with de Gea on goal, purely because he is a better option to have than Amos. In essence, de Gea has more experience, obviously he has played more games in the Premier League than Amos, which doesn't say alot, but he now knows what it's like, whereas Amos has played one league game against a Stoke side which lacked everything. Hopefully, Fergie sticks his faith on de Gea and we will see the Spaniard start against Chelsea.

a good run in the first team is exactly what de gea needs to build his confidence.

The thing that worries me about DDG is his confidence right now. It looks shot to pieces. This is another big game for him where he must show no nerves.
That's the only thing that worries me about him, if he playe without fear, then he will do fine against Chelsea.

Re: David De Gea
Yes, I agree. The squad rotation policy that Fergie is renowned for hasn't exactly done de Gea favours, I mean, when de Gea was on hot form, just after the mediocre start, Fergie benched de Gea for Lindegaard. And, then when Lindegaard was on good form, he brings in de Gea against Blackburn, who are physical opponents, it just doesn't make sense.
