Re: David De Gea
First of all, congrats to Big Dave for getting his first competitive debut for Spain About damn time!
2nd of all, we need to extend his contract asap.
Murmurs from the press coming through that Real Madrid are sniffing up a plot to try and sign him, unsettle him, put thoughts in his head, etc.
From what I've gathered, DDG seems settled at the club, has a core group of friends and he seems to love the club.
I'm hopeful he'll sign.

Re: David De Gea
Barcelona and Real Madrid both wanted gks this summer, I'd be a little shocked if they haven't contacted him already. One reason or another it didn't happen. We've been discussing a new contract with him since the end of last season, so maybe that was it.
Anyway, Barcelona have sorted themselves out short and long-term in terms of gks. I want to say Real Madrid will give Keylor Navas a chance before they decide to give De Gea a thought, but that's not how Real Madrid works.
Fwiw, we've offered De Gea a new contract £120k.

I personally don't think he will leave, at least now, but you never know in football. Anything can happen.

There are reports that Real Madrid are after Cech.
He is a much more available option than DDG, so I wouldn't be too worried if I were you guys.

Re: David De Gea
The faster we tie him down to a 5 year or so deal, better its going to be for us. Cos I am sure that mehhhdrid bound luxury train aint certainly finished on its mission yet. It will come for him again, in an year or 2 I am sure.
Our most prized possession without a doubt. Tie him down. Give him whatever he is asking. Cos this guy is going to be the best in 3 or 4 years. or at least one of the best if he isnt already one that is.

Re: David De Gea
-David de Gea asked by Kicker about Real Madrid reports "It's rumours, I'm happy here."
-De Gea on Ferguson "To many of us players he was like a father. I can only thank him, and one day I will tell my grandchildren about him."
-The goalkeeper, however, once again explained that crticism was so heavy during his start with Manchester United that he considered quitting the club but never went through with a visit to Sir Alex Ferguson's office.
"I tried to think positively. What helped me was I love the daily training and have used it to improve myself. But at first it was really not easy to handle the criticism.
"Today I am grateful for the hard start... Goalkeeper is a delicate position. To error is human... If you make mistakes, you need to improve. I'm better now.

Re: David De Gea
Van Gaal is confident he will commit to The Reds.
"De Gea has developed himself in the six months that I’ve been here very much," Van Gaal said.
"I’m very pleased with his development. I think there is no problem for him to sign.
"When you are a (regular) player, then probably you are the best, and then the manager is very happy that a player that is fixed in the line-up will stay."
positive news

Re: David De Gea
Jorge Mendes thinks DDG will stay
With LvG's comments a few weeks back saying the same, I'm hopeful.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/31123323#38;utm_medium=twitter"He has one year left on his contract and I think that he will stay in Manchester," said the 49-year-old Mendes, who is reported to have brokered more than £1bn worth of transfers.
"The player will decide, but he's happy there, at the moment."

It seems so. Last hope now is the day when (or if) we mathematically secure champs league next season, he could be waiting for that probably.

Re: David De Gea
I've accepted he's leaving. Him staying will be a welcomed bonus. I feel he could have said something, he atleast owes us that for supporting him during his difficult spell at the club. But his silence on the matter is deafening and telling. We're pretty much nailed on for a top 4 atm, not like we're 1 point ahead of the comp with 10 games to go, so I'm not buying into that 'ensuring we get CL in order for him to sign new contract' hope.

Re: David De Gea
Well, if he do want to go, then the best he could do for the club which stood by him for these years would be to sign an extension now and then leave after 1 year, so that we can at least get his value or even close to his value from the sale.
So for that purpose alone may be he would sign a 3 year deal or something i still believe. Still got hope in that. The thing is If real do have their sights set on him, theres nothing we as a club would be able to do. They are a level above sadly. And that again means it would be naive on our part to hold any grudge towards him.
Again, however The most annoying possibility which would arise is he wouldnt sign and then him leaving this summer itself for a criminally low amount of money.
Imagine the scenario where we cannot recoup even the money we paid to get him some years ago, him the supposedly best GK in the world now.
And then to rub salt to the wound, we go on and buy Lloris from Spuds for 40m. If something like that happens, then .. well. I dont know.. I may just lose faith in everything in football.
Its true though that with every passing day, and with his silence more importantly, its getting more or less confirmed.
If its not now, at least the next season he is bound to leave.

Re: David De Gea
You know what like Muppet said, if he do want to leave after all these, dont even show the decency to sign now and hence leave cheap, let it be. Let him go. Let him go to his hoy land. We can live with that. No one is bigger than the club itself.
I have faith in our scouts. Just like how they discovered DDG when no one barely knew him and turned him into a superstar they might have just found the replacement already.
Have faith in this kid to fill ddg's boots long term.
who cares if he have to play with valdes for a couple of seasons as no.1. We will be amping up our defense anyway this season. So an inferior keeper wouldnt cost us that much I hope. And after that the Serbian prodigy can take over after ample tutelage under Valdes.
