Re: Cristiano ronaldo peak years?
everyone doesnt want to understand the fact that in real madrid he gets chances each game that he never got in man u
week after week he has 10 shots per game or something, there isnt a single attack that doesnt pass through his feet
as i said before the only privelege this cristiano has than the younger one is his off the ball improvement which again depends mostly on the team he plays in
i have my opinion and i stand by it unless someone provides valid points as of why the 20 years old cristiano ( after couple of years at the current madrid, with different prespective ) wouldnt be as good or even better there is nothing to talk about, impudent opinions like whitestar's and zeal or lh's do not count
in conclusion i say
what he can do now he could do then
except the off the ball runs
its just that then he wasnt the focal point in his team nor he was at such a way better team than the domestic opponents

Re: Cristiano ronaldo peak years?
It's hard to say. But I found Cristiano the most dangerous in his last years at United and in 09/10. He was such a force and his freekicks were out of this world. But his decision making is better today and he gets on the scoresheet now more now then ever.
tough call but I'd say he is still in his peak years. Maybe this is his best.

Re: Cristiano ronaldo peak years?
Define peak.
I mean, do you Cristiano who scores truck loads of goals but does very little besides that.
Or Cristiano who scored less but was a danger in other areas.
Really, both are his peaks..he is just evolving, losing some things and gaining others.

Re: Cristiano ronaldo peak years?
Definitely the Current Ronaldo.Far better team player, far better passer and less less selfish player than the Manutd days. Also he does less useless tricks currently and has far less turnover rate too.
Re: Cristiano ronaldo peak years?
Aesthetically?
His peak was 06-07.
He was a complete football player then.
Productively?
11-12 season. Absolute machine last year. Clutch goals, long rangers, dat backheel, freekicks, more goals than games, 100 points, carried Portugal & Madrid to within a grasp of the Euro Finals/CL etc etc

freekicks? didn't he score precisely one last season?
anyway don't think he's improved much since his man utd days, his goalscoring record is more flattering because he's more of a stat padder than he was in england, and that applies in europe as well...
just last season: hattrick in a 6:0 win against zaragoza, hattrick in a 6:2 win against rayo, hattrick in a 7:1 win against osasuna, hattrick in a 6:2 win over sevilla, two goals in 5:1 wins against sociedad and osasuna, 2 goals in a 5:2 win over apoel... and half of his goals this season were scored with a hattrick in a 5:1 win over depor... now don't get me wrong he scores a lot of important goals but i'm fully confident if someone did the actual analysis at least a third of his goals would be scored when the opponents were down by more than 2 goals
inb4 messi does the same - yes, but noone's claiming how much more amazing he is now than when he was 3 years ago (except jiopsi)

Re: Cristiano ronaldo peak years?
i cant believe how this is even a discussion
ronaldo was the focal point of united as well but was just not as effective as he is now. complete footballer my foot
he is far more of a complete footballer now, with better goal scoring , more passing , less selfish play etc etc

2013 was his peak year for me. A Ballon D'or should seal the deal.

At La Liga he learned many things, how to touch the ball how to pass how to be a team player how to link up. He learned many things from Messi. You can not dribble much using speed in La Liga thats why he looks worse dribbler. I think this season is his peak

Re: Cristiano ronaldo peak years?
Ronaldo at United scored 16 CL goals in 6 seasons while at Madrid he scored 64 in 6 seasons. Dem England Poverty League fans jumping to attack GOAT Liga without taking into consideration Cristiano's development as a player since his arrival in Spain.

Re: Cristiano ronaldo peak years?
I think people often just look at Ronaldo as a selfish poacher who will shoot from anywhere and ignore the other aspects of his game that make him such a great player. His off the ball movement to get into attacking positions is second to none, and his link-up is underrated. He's an incredible finisher also...I always hear people talking about 'tap in artists' and all that nonsense, but if tap-ins were so easy to come by why are there not more strikers capable of it? I think people often forget that tap-ins are largely a result of getting into the right positions consistently and also having the composure and finish to make good on them.
He is truly a great player. Selfish, yes, but great none-the-less. Combining his reading of the game, power, speed and technique has created one of the greatest goal scorers in history.
As for the question...I think he's been peaking over the last few years. Injuries may derail that though.
