In all honesty, I disliked Iron man 3.
And there are a few irksome avenues that I would like to discuss about this movie that everyone is loving.

<rant>

- Acting? What acting? RDJ is being himself, the rest are bland and unimpressive.

- MANDARIN! Oh what a sorry joke! One of the deadliest and most feared villain in the Marvel Universe turned into a shambolic role-playing-idiot. Also, played by Ben Kingsley.Kills a story that had brilliant potential.

- Stupid story, horrible loop-holes, bad action sequences. (except the brilliant aero-rescue)

- Shameless advertisements. SUN, everyone's using Alcatel phones (One touch Idol, or Idol Ultras), that show that's always playing in Happy's hospital room.

- Point two again. Mandarin! The aliens have been there, the rings are there, Tony has been to space.. WHY would you not build on that! The bad guys don't even feel threatening once you get to know who they really are. The whole story feels as shallow as an online relationship.

- Every character is portrayed to be Stark-raving stupid. Killian being the worst. He literally GIVES Pepper the ability to end him. He waits for Stark to get his new armors before he even tries to kill him each time. Stark knows burning the mutants through the heart can kill them, but will not use that tactic in combat- he will get so close, instead of firing from afar, that they could actually touch and burn his cojones off.
The points do not end there, but meh.

</rant>

To the most uninspired and disappointing superhero movie Marvel has made till date.
No thank you, Iron Man 3

Watched the trailer for Great Gatsby. I am probably Leo's #1 Fan, but won't even touch this film. Baz Luhrman is a total hack in the way he made Romeo & Juliet and this modern cornball "hip and happening" remake of a timeless book is a pure disgrace and a testament to the lengths this moron of a director would go to modernize, glamorize and Luhrman-nate classics with his pure trash.

Cannot believe people are excited for this.

And ITS IN 3D :facepalm:

I also second Arq's opinion on the Great Gatsby....just not worth my time...plus it has Carey Mulligan, who looks like a 13 year old ffs, as the female lead.

Messiah....watch Star Wars for the quotes. You will no longer feel deprived. This is known.

I can never judge a movie on its trailer to be fair. Closer's trailer is pure shit, but the movie is one of my top 3 for example. i'll wait to wat TGG to form an opinion.

watched Premonition today....wow, amazing psychological thriller. Sandra Bullock :bow:

the new movie Mud looks great. I always thought Matthew Mcconaughey was a talentless guy, but I think he was just typecast. His last few movies I've seen have been great with killer performances..

Saw 'Mumbai police'.
A totally fresh effort in malayalam film. A fast-paced investigation movie. The plot is really interesting and the ending was well executed. Fine performances from Pritviraj and Jayasurya.

@Arq, I'm also a big Leo fan... And I understand your venting about Buz Luhrman rebooting TGG, but if anybody's gonna make it worth watching its Leo in the leading role. I'm more hyped up about the next Leo - Scorsese film though, The Wolf of Wall Street.

42 - Great inspirational movie with some fantastic performances. Don't go into it expecting a historically accurate documentary though, it's clearly a movie centered around entertainment and they've taken great liberties with the actual story. The pacy seemed a bit off as well.

Iron Man 3 - Very good movie but a bit of a departure from it's two predecessors. Comic fans may have some complaints with how the movie treats several of the characters and plot points, and the movie itself had a definite "conclusion" feel to it. Still very enjoyable though. The stinger was disappointing, IMHO.

My semester ends this week. I have made a long list of films I'm planning on watching this summer. Believe it or not it's been months since I last saw a movie. TV shows have been my guilty pleasure.

The Place Beyond the Pines starring Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper...

2 hours long. An unnecessary 15-20 mins in the middle.

The film has three crucial turns.

Overall, absolutely fantastic.

Watched Bringing Out the Dead tonight. Directed by Martin Scorsese. Starring Nicolas Cage. It was bad, just bad imo. Nowhere near Scorsese's other films.

Other film I watched recently was Donnie Darko. Very very interesting film and quite good as well.

If you like those mysterious, having-to-chase-to-keep-up kinda movies. This one is yours.
