Re: Real Madrid Pre-Season Discussion
We will play Milan too apparently. I mean, I understood Juve, but another Italian team? And one we play every other year anyway? I smell Flo-Silvio (SilviFlo?) conspiracy to rake in dem profits.

its a popular match, especially with the whole beckham connection and LA being the biggest team in the mls. makes sense. also madrid have a good connection with their coach (if hes still there) and probably the owner.
there will probably be many mls games so expect ny redbulls etc. to be announced shortly

Re: Real Madrid Pre-Season Discussion
Giants Real Madrid and Milan are set to face each other in a pre-season friendly on August 8, reports AS.
The two most successful teams in European Cup football, with 15 winners trophies between them, will meet in New York as part of the World Football Challenge tournament.
Although the venue is still to be confirmed everything points to the clash taking place in the Yankee stadium, a modern arena constructed in 2009 and home to the New York Yankees baseball team. With a 54,200 capacity it can easily be converted into a football ground and will also host another match in the same tournament between Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain on July 22.
The fixture will be the third organised by Madrid on their summer tour of the United States. The others are scheduled for August 2, when they take on David Beckham’s LA Galaxy at the Home Depot Center, and for three days later in Las Vegas where Juventus will be the opponents in the Sam Boyd Stadium.

Madrid have cancelled their game with Werder Bremen and have opted to play in China instead, their president wasn't too happy about it

Re: Real Madrid Pre-Season Discussion
Marca:
Real Madrid has more or less finalised its pre-season schedule. Highlights include the US tour, in which the Whites will meet LA Galaxy, Santos Laguna, AC Milan and Celtic. The Spanish Super Cup clash against Barcelona will take place once the league season is underway.
The bulk of the Real Madrid camp will report to Valdebebas to begin pre-season training on 15th June. The players who took part in Euro 2012 will join up with their teammates successively: Benzema will report for duty on the 26th, followed by the Germans (Özil and Khedira) and Portuguese (Cristiano, Pepe and Coentrao) on the 28th. The Spanish contingent (Casillas, Ramos, Arbeloa, Xabi and Albiol) will return to training on the 30th in the US, where the squad will be travelling to 48 hours earlier.
Before heading off on the tour, Madrid has two friendlies scheduled: the first will come against Maghreb Athletic Tetouan on 24th July at the Grand Stade in Tangiers, while the second, against Benfica, will be played at the legendary Estádio da Luz on the 27th, as part of the Eusébio Cup.
The following day, after the Portuguese and German contingent report back, Madrid will fly out to the US to compete in the World Football Challenge. The Whites' four matches stateside are as follows: 2nd August it will face David Beckham’s LA Galaxy team at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California; on the 5th it will square off against Mexico's Santos Laguna in Las Vegas, before following this up with clashes against AC Milan at New York's Yankee Stadium on the 8th and against Celtic in Philadelphia on the 11th.
After the fixture against the Scottish champions, Real Madrid will head back to Spain, where it will begin its title defence just a week later, on the weekend of 18th-19th August. Interestingly, the Spanish Super Cup will take place after the league campaign has kicked off: the first leg will be in Barcelona on 22nd August, followed by the return leg at the Bernabéu on the 29th.
Real Madrid is also hoping to play a fixture against Bogotá's Millonarios -the club at which Alfredo di Stéfano made his name- as part of the Bernabéu Trophy. The date for this match is still to be confirmed.

Re: Real Madrid Pre-Season Discussion
AS:
Real Madrid will not play in Tangiers on 24 July, as scheduled. The friendly against Athletic Tétouan, the reigning Moroccan league champions, was called off due to logistical problems. Real Madrid are now on the lookout for new opponents for the same date.
Karim Benzema is scheduled to rejoin the squad for the game, the first of the pre-season for the team from Madrid that was due to be played in the Grand Stade de Tanger. The rest of the squad will start training nine days before, on July 15, the date set by José Mourinho for players that didn't feature at Euro 2012.
It just so happens that Madrid's eternal rivals, Barcelona, are also due to play a friendly in Tangiers four days later, though against a team of local players.

Re: Real Madrid Pre-Season Discussion
Benfica and Real Madrid will play a friendly match on 27 July at Da Luz Stadium in Lisbon in the fifth edition of the Eusebio Cup. Director of Institutional Relations Emilio BUtrgaueño attended the presentation of the match.
"We hope the 27 July match has a party atmosphere to pay tribute to one of the best players in football history. It is an honour for Real Madrid to participate in the match. We have an excellent relationship with Benfica, who are an historic side; this will only strengthen it even more."
"We are deeply sorry about Eusebio's illness and we hope he recovers as quickly as possible. I think he represents for Benfica what Alfredo di Stefano represents for us. He played in a glorious time during the 1960s and was the leader of a wonderful team. He has many values and a spirit of self-improvement that he's instilled in future generations."
"I hope Real Madrid and Benfica come face to face in a final in the near future, just like we did in 1962; I just hope the score is different this time! We are very grateful to Benfica for their hospitality; they are excellent hosts. "
"Cristiano Ronaldo scored 46 goals in 38 games last season, which is more than one strike per match on average. We are getting used to these numbers, but those of us who were players know how difficult it was to score in one of three games. It is incredible to score in every game. Portuguese fans should be proud of Cristiano. He is an exemplary professional."
