Benfica and Real Madrid will play a friendly match on 27 July at Da Luz Stadium in Lisbon in the fifth edition of the Eusebio Cup. Director of Institutional Relations Emilio BUtrgaueño attended the presentation of the match.

"We hope the 27 July match has a party atmosphere to pay tribute to one of the best players in football history. It is an honour for Real Madrid to participate in the match. We have an excellent relationship with Benfica, who are an historic side; this will only strengthen it even more."

"We are deeply sorry about Eusebio's illness and we hope he recovers as quickly as possible. I think he represents for Benfica what Alfredo di Stefano represents for us. He played in a glorious time during the 1960s and was the leader of a wonderful team. He has many values and a spirit of self-improvement that he's instilled in future generations."

"I hope Real Madrid and Benfica come face to face in a final in the near future, just like we did in 1962; I just hope the score is different this time! We are very grateful to Benfica for their hospitality; they are excellent hosts. "

"Cristiano Ronaldo scored 46 goals in 38 games last season, which is more than one strike per match on average. We are getting used to these numbers, but those of us who were players know how difficult it was to score in one of three games. It is incredible to score in every game. Portuguese fans should be proud of Cristiano. He is an exemplary professional."

Gran noticia recibida:) @nachofi1990

that was Alex Fernandez

i assume that they have been called up to the first team for pre-season training and congrats to them
they are 2 pillars for the Youth and lets hope they can impress enough, maybe Mourinho wants to give Nacho a chance at the RB spot, he seems to be the only youngster that Mou trusts
is a great captain and has played superbly this season, even with the worst partners with him, has the versatility that Mourinho wanted, so who knows, maybe Nacho is going to be promoted

Mourinho is apparently taking 8 players
I think those are: Alex, Nacho, Joselu, Pacheco, Jese, Jesus and some C players

Real Madrid Pre-Season Discussion - Page 2 Empty Re: Real Madrid Pre-Season Discussion

Post by Onyx Mon Jul 16, 2012 1:01 pm

Real Madrid started preparing for the 2012/13 season, for which great objectives have been set following last year's brilliant season. Jose Mourinho supervised a session attended by all available men and the academy's Jesus, Morata, Ivan, Alex, Denis, Nacho, Juanfran, Mosquera, Casado, Lucas, Pacheco, Rios and Mateos. None of the internationals who participated in the Euro 2012 were in attendance, and neither was Marcelo, who is set to play in the Olympic Games with Brazil. Real Madrid will train again at 17:30 CET.

The day started very early for the players and the coaching, who had to undergo medical examinations before work began. Spirits were high as they started to gather at Valdebebas and everyone was kidding around.

Di Maria was the first to arrive and was followed by Morata. Varane, Granero, Callejon, Kaka... Football Director Miguel Pardeza greeted everyone upon arrival and Higuian took on captain duties, as he was the most veteran player present today. Everyone looked excited to return to work.

Goalkeepers Adan, Jesus and Pacheco trained with goalkeeping coach Silvino Louro in two goals facing each other at a short distance in order to work on foot and had clearances.

Fitness trainer Rui Faria supervised the stretching exercises and jog tackled by the rest of the players, who were then asked to sprint at different paces in an obstacle course. Two groups were later formed in order to do ball work in a reduced space to achieve maximum mobility.

Raul Gonzalez Blanco surprised the squad at Valdebebas on Tuesday afternoon. The current Al-Saad player and former Real Madrid captain saw the training session away from the pitch so as not to interfere with the team's work. Once training was over, he approached the team in order to greet the squad and the coaching staff. Raul chatted with Jose Mourinho and former teammate Aitor Karanka, as well as with the players, coaching staff and club employees. He had his picture taken with many of them; the one featured here was tweeted by Castilla's Alvaro Morata.

Real Madrid continues its preseason and Carvalho is still not train with the team. As happened in these last days, the Luso, with permission of the white club, has not practiced with his teammates in the first session of the day for Mourinho.

The technician could have the same 14 youth players with whom he worked in Thursday's session, which added the midfielder Ruben Belima. The big news was the absence on céspede Angel di Maria, who stayed in the gym Valdebebas.

At the end of the morning session was organized to work partidillo speed and ball movement. The team won 2-1 without bibs with two good goals from Fabinho and Nacho. Higuain scored the goal for his team with a great cross shot. Real Madrid will exercise this evening from 17:30.

Not sure, but the Spain, Portugal and Germany players haven't returned yet. Plus Benzema only just returned today. So it'll probably be Callejon, Granero, Higuain etc. Also maybe some Castilla players.

Real Madrid Pre-Season Discussion - Page 2 Empty Re: Real Madrid Pre-Season Discussion

Post by Onyx Tue Jul 24, 2012 1:35 pm

The third campaign with Mourinho in charge of the team, which is unbeaten in 16 friendlies with the Portuguese on the bench, is playing its season premiere at the Carlos Tartiere Stadium

A little less than a month before the start of official competition, Mourinho’s third campaign in charge of Real Madrid will have its season premiere at the Carlos Tartiere Stadium, where the Whites return after a ten year absence. After a week of training and more than ten training sessions in total the moment has arrived for the much anticipated, exciting opening match. The opposition is Real Oviedo, who will battle in Group I of the Second Division B. The meeting also brings back fond memories for Castilla players joining the first team. In the same setting, and only three months ago, the subsidiary team became champions of the Second Division B.

Real Madrid opens the 2012/13 season in Oviedo. They have been waiting 70 days, but this time has been worth it when you consider the excitement that Whites fans have for the new campaign. With a young and ambitious squad, who last season won the best league in history (with 100 points), José Mourinho begins his third season at the helm.

LEAGUE CLASHES BETWEEN THE TWO TEAMS
J G E P GF GC
Real Madrid 76 46 16 14 158 79
Real Oviedo 76 14 16 46 79 158
The Whites, who will visit the Asturian’s home territory ten years after their previous visit, are unbeaten in the 16 friendlies that they have been played since the Portuguese took over the team. The stats are overwhelming: 13 wins, 3 draws, 45 goals scored (2.8 per game) and only 14 against (0.9 per game). The Mexican club, América and Los Angeles Galaxy on two occasions, Hércules, Peñarol at the Santiago Bernabeu Trophy, Chivas de Guadalajara, Philadelphia Union, Hertha Berlin, Leicester City, Guangzhou Evergrande, Tianjin Teda, Galatasaray at the Santiago Bernabeu Trophy and the Kuwaiti national have been the rivals in the matches that were won, while Bayern Munich, Standard Liege and the Murcian regional team are the three teams that have shared the spoils.

Real Oviedo: a historic rival to begin the action
The Whites will measure themselves against a team that are at the same point in their pre-season preparation. Each with a week of training behind them, both Real Madrid and Oviedo will play their season premiere. It will be the first of four opponents that the Asturian’s will face (Urraca Club, Lugones and Zamora are the other three) and the first of six that Real Madrid will come up against (Benfica, L.A. Galaxy, Santos Laguna, Milan and Glasgow Celtic).

Toni Fidalgo, Real Oviedo’s new president: "Real Madrid are giving us a gift by returning to the Carlos Tartiere Stadium"
What he says perfectly encapsulates the significance of the visit of their first pre-season opponent. Oviedo has a history in the First Division. It has played 38 seasons in the top flight and is now facing its fourth consecutive season in the Second Division B. It fought throughout last season to be among the top four and to have the opportunity to play for promotion, but they eventually finished sixth in the group in which the champions were Castilla. This season, they again play in Group I of the third tier and will face Real Madrid C, the second subsidiary of the club.

Felix Sarriugarte, the new coach of Real Oviedo, faces his club debut in charge of the Asturian team with absence of several players due to injury. Xavi Moré and Oscar Martinez Alvaro continue with their recovery plans and will not play. On the contrary Martins, who has recovered from a grade 1 sprain to his left ankle is part of the first list of 22 players made the Basque coach. "Real Madrid are giving us a gift by returning to the Carlos Tartiere Stadium" said Toni Fidalgo recently, the club’s new president.

Post by Onyx Tue Jul 24, 2012 1:38 pm

AS:

Brazilian midfielder Kaka Real Madrid will not play Tuesday's friendly against Oviedo, as will the premiere of the champions league this season.

The decision to drop out of the squad to Kaka was taken at the last minute, because even on the list published on the website of the club on the morning of Tuesday, the Brazilian was among the 23 players cited by Jose Mourinho for this friendly.

The absence of the Brazilian, who trained normally on Monday with their peers and not suffer any injury, might respond to the conversation he had with Mourinho at the Santiago Bernabeu . At that meeting, the Portuguese coach made it clear that this season will be best to alternate and Kaka himself would be to seek computer.

Nor have traveled Sahin, who suffers from gastroenteritis, Carvalho and Benzema, who started the season on Monday.
