Why not? If he manages to stay healthy, play for Germany and score goals, he will have fully deserved it for his consistency and being a model athlete.
It doesn't really matter, it just seems more "appropriate" for Ronaldo to remain the top scorer because he was a much better player.

Well, this is about "top scorer" not about "best player". For once the "prize" should go to the guy with the better stats - not like the Ballon d'Or that claims to be for the best player, but seems to be determined by best stats padding ^^

There are pitches - I just saw the full video about Campo Bahía on TV - that camp is going to be really nice - if it is really finished on time, that is.

Serge Gnabry, Stuttgart born son of a German mother and an Ivorian father (who was an Ivorian international), stated that he wants to continue playing for Germany in the future as he went through all German youth NTs.

I had to google him myself, though there's a short profile on Spiegel Online on him, which also cleared up why I vaguely thought I knew the name: played for the youth teams, so I definitely read his name a few times, but I guess he fell off my radar during his time in Everton.

Does sound promising, admittedly.

Tbh just one month ago I have known Mustafi was  German Laughing that surname deceived me

what saying about him ?   He is very promising, great header ,  maturated this year under Sinisa Mihajlovic  but tbh I am  enough surprised of this call up.
He deserves to be followed in future (on the other hand not all are starters in Serie A to 22 years)  he is still good but in this moment it' s a  soon for this level , infact  it would be advisable for him to remain to Sampdoria so as to complete the  growth .
I think it's a just recognition for the good season disputated so far by him  but I would be surprised if he would be called for the World Cup tbf

In this regard and always about Serie A, I can image Low is waiting leisurely Mario Gomez also taking a look to this list , only 2 forwards

He  is recovering gradually not forcing the recovery in these months , so I think he'll be in very good conditions for June.

Super disappointed Lasogga got injured in training, had high hopes for the kid. And I really wanted to see him tested, I guess this would've been his prime chance, and against decent opposition, too.

IIRC our next few test matches are against utter scrubs.

Safe to say that the 4-3-2-1 didn't work out so well offensively nor defensively so we better not try it again.

Like i said, Germany defense is the only thing that can potentially knock them out...they did in Euro's, i dont see any improvements now either.

It's a team effort though, nobody in the back four was especially bad, they just received too little cover from the wingers, and midfield was riddled with holes.

Preliminary Germany Squad for the World Cup

For now, Jogi Löw nominated 30 players, but of course he has to reduce this squad to 23 players later on.

Goal: Manuel Neuer (Bayern München), Roman Weidenfeller (Borussia Dortmund), Ron-Robert Zieler (Hannover 96)

Defense: Jerome Boateng (Bayern München), Erik Durm (Borussia Dortmund), Kevin Großkreutz (Borussia Dortmund), Benedikt Höwedes (Schalke 04), Mats Hummels (Borussia Dortmund), Marcell Jansen (Hamburger SV), Philipp Lahm (Bayern München), Per Mertesacker (FC Arsenal), Shkodran Mustafi (Sampdoria Genua), Marcel Schmelzer (Borussia Dortmund)

Midfield: Lars Bender (Bayer Leverkusen), Julian Draxler (Schalke 04), Matthias Ginter (SC Freiburg), Leon Goretzka (Schalke 04), Mario Götze (Bayern München), André Hahn (FC Augsburg), Sami Khedira (Real Madrid), Toni Kroos (Bayern München), Max Meyer (Schalke 04), Thomas Müller (Bayern München), Mesut Özil (FC Arsenal), Lukas Podolski (FC Arsenal), Marco Reus (Borussia Dortmund), André Schürrle (FC Chelsea), Bastian Schweinsteiger (Bayern München)

Attack: Miroslav Klose (Lazio Rom), Kevin Volland (1899 Hoffenheim)

Has Löw passed comment on how much time he's willing to give Gomez to prove his fitness ahead of the World Cup or is it likely that his ship has simply sailed? Really disappointing for Mario if so, such a terrible season in which to endure serious injuries.

Also if I were Kießling I'd travel to Brazil so I could invade the press conference when Löw's cowardice inevitably costs his side. Laughing

Well, no one who is not in the 30-men-squad will go to the World Cup, so it is really just bad luck for Mario Gomez. With Sami Khedira, Mario Klose, Benedikt Höewedes and Marcel Schmelzer, he already has some guys whis injuries, so adding even more of that would be really problematic.
