Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
FFS if this is true:facepalm: He may not be a prolific or reliable striker, but he offers us rare qualities that this team needs.
-Genuine passion for the club as he is a childhood fan.
- Burst of pace and hold up play is a + to zombie like pace in the squad.
- Bags of energy and is hard working.
- Is young with more room to improve.
This clown in charge has the potential of gutting our core of decent/quality players in favour of the likes of Young/cleverley and Valencia. All because his vision is distorted.
Welbeck frustrates the heck outta me most times, I'm not gonna lie. But I will be livid if we decide to sell him.

BBC running the story about Welbeck too now. Yeah, he annoys me at times too, but we need him. Honestly feels like Moyes has fallen out with half the squad.

Hope they sack the clueless tool before he reeks more damage on the club. A good seeing to by Everton on us today should speed up the process.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
If he does end up leaving, I hope it's not to Arsenal. They probably all want a top class striker but sometimes it's more about the fit and he will fit well. When played upfront this season he has scored about a goal a game and can actually score in big games unlike their current striker.

Was told today that Dortmund were lining up an official bid for Kagawa. (NOT a swap) Won't happen now - Shinji wants to stay.

In other United related matters, Everton will bid for Cleverley at end of the season. Martinez's main target with Lukaku #efc #mufc
Don't care how shit he's been this season, if anyone can get him to play better it's Martinez. They can have Fellaini back though.

He won't use him as a DM like Moyes did. We know how Cleverely performed at Wigan under Martinez, so I don't want to sell to them. I'd rather keep Cleverley than Fellaini, at least the former is mobile.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
I hope we still get Luke Shaw, I doubt he was coming here for Moyes though
We need LB, CB, 2 CMs and a back-up RB next season, imo. Nick Powell is coming back next season too, Andreas Pereira and James Wilson should get a look in as well. Lingard, I have no idea what happened with him, his contract is expiring at the end of the season too. Januzaj will be even better next season and will be able to play more games, so I don't think we need to buy a winger too many changes is harmful anyway.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
Manchester United set sights on Paris Saint-Germain's Edinson Cavani
• Managerial turmoil fails to deter club over transfer targets
• United confident of landing Shaw and still want Fábregas
Edinson Cavani could cost Manchester United £60m to prise him away from Paris Saint-Germain.
Manchester United intend to plough ahead with their transfer business during the potentially long process of waiting for a new manager to start – almost three months in Louis van Gaal's case – and their extensive inquiries include exploring the possibility of whether Paris Saint-Germain might sell Edinson Cavani.
United confidently expect to close a deal of around £30m for Luke Shaw, offering the teenage Southampton full-back a lucrative financial package that could be worth as much as £100,000-a-week over five years. The offer will be difficult for Chelsea to match bearing in mind their issues over keeping in line with Uefa's financial fair play rules. Ed Woodward, United's chief executive, has been made aware that Cavani might be available and is also tempted to look again at Cesc Fábregas's position at Barcelona, despite the unsatisfactory way it turned out when they tried to sign him last summer.
Although United were accused of handling the process badly at the time, the club remain convinced that Fábregas was keen to join them only for the proposed move to break down because of the politics and sensitivities that surround his association with Barcelona. Their interest is sustained in part because Robin van Persie, Fábregas's close friend, has reported that the former Arsenal midfielder wanted the move to happen, using the striker as an intermediary, and Woodward was told exactly the same by the relevant agents.
United failed with bids of £25m and £30m, as well as making a verbal offer in the region of £35m, and could not persuade Fábregas to go public or try to force the issue. This time they will approach it more cautiously but, again, with the sense that both Fábregas and Barcelona are more open to the idea than their public utterances might lead people to suspect.
What is increasingly clear is that United realise they will have to spend significant sums of money if one of Van Gaal or Carlo Ancelotti, the two managers uppermost in their thoughts, is to repair the damage that was caused in the David Moyes era. The team, who are out of next season's Champions League, lie seventh in the Premier League, 23 points off the top, and are about to be deposed as champions.
Woodward is confident that two deals have already provisionally been put in place, though those names have not been revealed. Their interest is known in several high-calibre players such as Marco Reus and Ilkay Gundogan at Borussia Dortmund, Toni Kroos at Bayern Munich and Sporting Lisbon's William Carvalho.
Chelsea were considered favourites to land Shaw, a lifelong Chelsea supporter whose parents live near the club's Cobham training centre in Surrey. Yet the terms plus the lure of becoming Patrice Evra's instant successor at left-back have boosted confidence at Old Trafford that the 18-year-old England prospect will join, becoming the highest paid teenager in English football.
The priority for United is in midfield, as well as finding replacements for the departing Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand, but United have already held preliminary talks to ascertain whether Cavani might be prised away from PSG. The fee would be high, potentially £60m for a 27-year-old, in complete contrast to the policy that existed at Old Trafford a few years ago whereby the club simply would not countenance, post-Dimitar Berbatov, paying huge amounts for a player of that age.
Cavani signed from Napoli for £52.7m last summer, making him the sixth most expensive player in the world. His introduction to Ligue 1 was hugely impressive at first but the Uruguayan's form has diminished in the second part of the season and he was unable to exert any real influence in either leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Chelsea.
Although United are not short of forwards, the reason for their interest is two-fold. First, there is a recognition at Old Trafford that the team have lacked dynamism and need an injection of directness and pace in attack. Second, Woodward wants to bring a superstar to the club and his ambition of bringing Cristiano Ronaldo back to Manchester seems a long way away.
Whoever takes over from Ryan Giggs – who will hold his first press conference as interim manager on Friday – will be involved in the process as soon as it becomes possible. In Ancelotti's case, the earliest that could happen would be the end of May. However, United have to establish the chance of him leaving Real Madrid and a lot depends on how his team finish the season.
For Van Gaal, it would be even longer, as he prepares to take Holland to the World Cup finals. United, deliberating between the two, intend to make their first approaches in the next two weeks.
The debate over Adnan Januzaj's international future appears to have been settled after the Belgium coach, Marc Wilmots, took to Twitter to announce the teenager has committed himself to the land of his birth. The 19-year-old – who was born in Brussels to Kosovar-Albanian parents – is eligible to play for up to five countries, with Turkey and England also believed to have registered an interest. However, with Belgium preparing to take part in their first World Cup finals since 2002, Wilmost has confirmed that Januzaj will be avaialble for selection in Brazil.

Strange move, but it was reported from Di Marzio awhile go too. Parts in bold is why we're interested. I don't really want this to materialise. Depends if someone is going though.

Hope it is false. We should get Strootman from Roma if we get van Gaal. Shaw will come if van Gaal comes. I've not been this excited for a while. From the ashes, the phoenix will rise again!

Di Marzio has said that we have offered Evra a new 3 year contract.
The Guardian also says Evra is more inclined to stay now. He also realises he will be back-up and will be there to help guide Luke Shaw.
Good deal. Vidic is leaving, and Rio is finished, Evra has good experience. Important to retain at least one of them and Evra will be good back-up especially with rest. He's been overworked the last few years and his knee is f*cked

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
Actually, our policy is to give 30+ players one year contracts, but we gave a 2 year one to Carrick and now Evra a 3 year one. I guess times are different under Woodward than Gill.
We have no problems with wages anyway, lowest wages to turnover ratio in the league for 12/13. Our wage structure is fine. Next season, Carrick, Evra and RvP will be our only aged 30+ players.

Rio Ferdinand considers foreign move but may stay at Manchester United
• Ferdinand's one-year deal could be extended
• Foreign clubs interested include LA Galaxy

Rio Ferdinand is considering offers from Galatasaray, Besiktas, LA Galaxy and Al Gharafa, though his first choice would be to stay at Manchester United next season.
The 35-year-old started in Saturday's 4-0 win over Norwich City in Ryan Giggs's first match as interim manager, and has no plans to retire. United, meanwhile, have an option, expiring next month, to extend his one-year deal.
"I'm going to continue playing," Ferdinand said. "Whether it's here, I don't know. But I hope so."
With Louis van Gaal United's first choice to become permanent manager, after last week's sacking of David Moyes, whether Ferdinand's United career is continued will be the Holland coach's decision, if he is appointed.
Ferdinand, speaking for the first time since David Moyes's removal, added that players have to take some blame for the dismal campaign. "It's embarrassing. You don't want to look at the league table and see where we are. We were saying [before] I've not looked at the league table for ages, but it's because you don't want to."
"But that's down to us as players. We take responsibility for that as much as anyone else. We are where we are and we have to take some responsibility for that. We are not shirkers and we are not people who don't take responsibility. I don't think you get to where we have got to in our careers without taking responsibility and this is no different."
Robin van Persie has returned to full training after a knee injury and may be available for Saturday's visit of Sunderland. Giggs said: "He came back [on Friday], he trained well and just needs to work on his fitness now, so he looked great. We'll just have to wait and see how he goes this week."

I think he should leave. Thankful for the service, but time is up.
Over-persistence with old players has meant Smalling and Jones are not where they're supposed to be right now, and the reason we haven't solved our LB problem thus far.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
So it begins, kind of
http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/louis-van-gaal-targes-kevin-7039107
Van Gaal targets Strootman as part of plans to put own identity on United
The Dutchman is the red-hot favourite to take over and has already identified some of the players he wants to sign for the club.
United are not considering the gamble of promoting the managerial inexperience of interim boss Ryan Giggs as their choice to succeed David Moyes and still have Carlo Ancelotti on the radar.
The Reds will keep a keen eye on this week’s Champions League semi final second leg between the Italians’ Real and Bayern Munich. If the Spaniards were to surrender their 1-0 lead in Germany then the fall-out could open the door to a change in the landscape regarding Ancelotti.
But Van Gaal is still the red-hot favourite to celebrate his 63rd birthday on August 8 just eight days from leading United into the new 2014-15 season.
Van Gaal will kick-off the World Cup as Holland’s national boss against current holders Spain in the Arena Fonte Nova in Salvador on June 23.
The Dutch side’s last group match is against Chile on June 23 and then his tenure could last anything up to July 13 when the final is played in the Maracana in Rio on July 13 just 10 days before the Reds open their 2014 pre-season tour against LA Galaxy in Pasadena.
United want to avoid the shambolic summer transfer window they endured under Moyes when alleged dithering by the new manager and the fact that he didn’t officially start work as the Old Trafford boss on July 1 saw the Reds lose out on targets and end up with an expensive 11th hour move for Marouane Fellaini.
It is believed that Van Gaal already has ideas over newcomers if he were to take over at United and also approves of some of the deals United’s hierarchy have already laid the groundwork on.
Southampton’s attacking left back Luke Shaw would fit into Van Gaal’s adventurous style and a £30m move is still set to see off Chelsea.
United have also already put feelers out about Bayern Munich’s midfielder Toni Kroos, whom Van Gaal had in his side when he was at the German club between 2009 and 2011. That still remains an outside prospect but the Reds won’t give up the ghost just yet.
Van Gaal is also supposed to have his own ideas on how to improve the fallen Premier League champions.
It includes stiffening a defence that will be shorn of Nemanja Vidic when the Serb departs for Inter Milan at the end of the season. The Dutch chief’s candidate for that role could be Borussia Dortmund’s 25-year-old German international Mats Hummels.
However, his main target to improve United’s engine room and install a tough tackling figure is Roma’s 24-year-old Kevin Strootman.
The Reds have been linked with Strootman in the past when he was at PSV Eindhoven.
He was a mainstay of Van Gaal’s Holland side in the World Cup qualifiers but Strootman injured his knee ligaments in Roma’s Serie A match against Napoli in March and that blow wrecked his hopes of playing in the Brazil showpiece.
But he is said to be making progress and would be fit for the start of next season.
Van Gaal is a huge fan of Strootman and was rocked by his injury. “Kevin was looking ahead to a very important period,” he said.
“This is a setback for the Dutch national team too – Kevin made a big contribution to our qualification for the World Cup.
“We always could rely on him. He is a player who brings a balance to the entire team. No-one will be able to replace Kevin.”

Chelsea close in on deals to sign Atletico Madrid left-back Filipe Luis [The Telegraph]

If, as expected, Chelsea complete the move to sign Filipe – who would cost around 20million euros (£16.5million) – it may also be a clear sign that they expect Luke Shaw to join Manchester United. United are planning a £27million bid for the 18-year-old Southampton left-back.
