Transfer Rumours Thread
Van Gaal wants to keep Evra at United despite Juve’s interest
This is a time of change at Manchester United, between players leaving and a new coach arriving. The Reds are ready to turn the page with Van Gaal on their bench next season. This decision will have an impact on their plans for the summer transfer period. At the moment the focus is on Patrice Evra, who has an expiring contract and is being pursued by Juventus. The Dutch coach considers the French wing back a key piece on the roster as a leader in the locker room and he wants he to remain with club. Evra is getting closer to staying at Manchester United, but the signature has yet to arrive, Juve appears to be less of a possibility, but the bianconeri remain vigilant.

Jonathan Northcroft (Sunday Times Journalist) on MUTV - "Luke Shaw wants the Manchester United move and it's close to being completed."

Smalling is an Arsenal fan. Ramsey is a United fan. Carragher was a Everton fan growing up..
My point is, it doesn't matter who they're a fan of. Shaw will pick a team that will be best for his professional career. We desperately need a LB, and he knows that.

And Raheem Sterling is a self-proclaimed Man Utd fan, so is Ramsey!!!
In reality, you don't choose clubs solely on who you support, there's other factors that come into it.
EDIT: RED beat me to it.

United target Bacary Sagna as Louis van Gaal joins City in hunt for Arsenal defender
-Manchester United want to sign Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna
-Imminent Old Trafford boss Louis van Gaal wants Sagna to compete with Rafael
-Manchester City will hold talks to bring Sagna to the Premier League champions
-City will offer Sagna a four-year deal worth a minimum of £100,000-per-week
-Sagna wants his future resolved before going to the World Cup with France
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2631307/Manchester-United-target-Bacary-Sagna-Louis-van-Gaal-joins-Manchester-City-hunt-Arsenal-defender.html
Daily Mail, but I've seen it in the Times too. So it's probably true.
Would rather we promote from within, especially for a back-up. Big wages too. Not a fan of stop-gap options even if he is seen as a starter.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
Phil McNulty from the BBC, in one of his pieces, has said that it looks certain for Shaw to join us now.
Also, De Telegraaf has said van Gaal is unlikely to go for any Dutch players, he would have gone for Strootman if it wasn't for his injury though. Goes on to say he wants to shop in the German league, because it is one he knows well.
Hopefully, we can find some Vidals there like Juve did

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
Except for 1-2 players I am not sure if all these targets even want to join man u(at least this season)
http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2014/may/20/manchester-united-top-10-transfer-targets-louis-van-gaal
I think Man U may have to rely on young talent(less expensive) as Van usually does and build gradually by grooming/buying some more key players over 2 seasons.

I would say, Shaw, Fabregas, Kroos, Mangala would all be obtainable outside chance of Reus

Why so many Bayern players?
Also, Mangala recently said he'd join Chelsea over City as he prefers London, perhaps that extends to Utd too?

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
It's just a blog piece, Kick. They're just posting players we've been linked to in the past few weeks from a host of papers.
Bayern players because van Gaal is our manager, they're putting 2+2 and getting 5.
I don't think we'll go for Mangala, btw.

Guillem Balague is saying Barcelona have inserted a buy-out clause of 40 million euros for Fabregas. He's a bit 50-50 though, was right on Mata but wrong on Herrera ()

No, not really
edit: to be precise, the devil is in the fine print. "A buy out clause of 30m that is triggered next year"
Reus has a buy out clause for summer 2015, reportedly 35m €, which they're negotiating with him to get rid of at the moment.
Anyway this means ABSOLUTELY NO WAY Reus leaves this summer.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
and sorry, I call bullshit on the 'Utd and Bayern have reached a deal over Kroos' reports.
Only in the British press outright wrong stuff like that is fit to be printed without blinking.
There's no new information about the Kroos situation at all in Germany.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
It's obviously not true, £20 mil for Toni Kroos is just very cheap. Even if he does only have one year on his contract. Hence those articles were not posted in this thread, only reliable sources in here
Btw, I have posted this earlier in the thread:

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
I trust LVG's decision to not pursue Kroos. There is no doubt Kroos has quality, but ever since that first leg performance v a 10 man Arsenal, I have been underwhelmed everytime I have watched him play. That's why I haven't been really pushing for us to get him as much as I did that night he performed like a WC player. Don't get me wrong, if we were to get him in the future, I'd be all for it.
Van Gaal has an image in which he wants us to play and set us up. He has the players in his mind to fit that role. We'll go after the right ones....not ones we don't need, like our previous manager, who wasted 60+mill on.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
I have to agree, I want Kroos but only if van Gaal wants Kroos. One of my criticisms of Moyes was he played RvP, Rooney and Mata together despite it clearly not working, which implied a lack of vision. All he was trying to do is put as many stars into the team without them really fitting in together.
I do hope we get a CM once and for all though, we have had Pogba in our reserves and we still managed to mess it up, it's like we're not allowed to have a good CM

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
LvG if its true.
I see where its coming from.cos LvG is simply not Moyis. The latter who is unfortunately an idiot will do nothing but hope and hope and hope that the player just like that, before the transfer deadline day one fine morning will agree to join us, a 7th placed PL team from one of the best clubs in the world, and in the process simply failing to pursue 'realistic' targets which ultimately will culminate in an yet again a failed transfer saga.
He is too short sighted and foolish to envision that all this is part of the 'grand plan' when it comes to that player.
that is 'Using' United for getting himself a new deal.
In reality a Kroos or a Cesc (last season) will never join us. a foreign club which is on the decline. Why should they?
So here LvG courtesy his wealth of experience in managing big clubs and big names has that 'been there seen that' thingy going for him. So he realises Kroos's intentions. and puts an end to the speculation. and the usual media BS.
He know Man U at least in this window has almost 0 chance in prising out players from big clubs. So he simply refuses to waste time going for them, and knowing the knowledge he has about players thanks to working in different countries unlike moyesh who had to personally scout even relativity known players in the process yet again wasting precious time , there is nothing to be worried at all. He will get us what we want before August 1.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
A lot of Twitter spec about us being in for James Mccarthy
Sign of the times I guess, because that is a more realistic target than all these other established star players we're being linked with.
