He was very good today. He is surely adapting!! I hope this puts an end to the 343 too!

Very impressed with his performances recently, he is progressing very well, he's not the same Cesc we were watching a few months ago.

Has definately improved since arriving to the club and showed his brilliance today. I have said it once and I will say it again, he should stick to the midfield.

I havent seen 3-4-3 from us for a long time now, perhaps Pep has figured its not good and concluded not to try it again?

Well he used it primarily because its the only position Cesc could play in.

Now, he seems to be getting it in midfield so he doesnt need to play him there.

Also the formation limits Dani Alves and to an extent Xavi, nobody really wants that.

Well it would be very big for Cesc if its true Pep actually tried it in order to fit Cesc in....I guess its part of the reason. I think most have concluded it didnt work...glad its not needed since it probably did hurt our season from the results trying it...

Surprised to learn hes more like Puyol, always thought he was the more relaxed kind. Good thing he isnt, means he will always work hard! Smile

A few questions if you barce fans don't mind....

Where is Cecs primarily being played?

And overall so far...how good has he been and was the price tag justified? I have a very good feeling it was, considering the price you got for him....

Fantastic performance. Some of his passes were too good, that chip to Messi (in first half, Messi missed sitter). I don't understand Cesc hate, he was very good this season, if not his goals we would be behind RM with more than 10 points. I prefer him to Thiago in the midfield, Thiago has Brazilian tricks on the ball, but poor vision and final ball.

Cesc wasnt even in midfield...he was in between the lines. The only place he can consistently be useful.

I think it was more 4420 as zonalmarking said tbh.

Iniesta went left, Cuenca right, Xavi and Busi in tandem and Cesc in advance and Cesc and Messi doing what they do.

Dani Alves went back to rightback.

Feel like he is going to play against Malaga. Hope he puts in a decent performance. I reckon Tito will change his approach with Fab. Got that feeling!

So whats the way forward for Fabregas next season.I think most on here would agree that he has had a disappointing season.
I was against the idea of him coming over because I knew he wasnt going to replace Xavi.Doesnt have the technique, awareness or intelligence.
But then when Pep played the 3-4-3 I was hopeful cause Fab has the required tools to play in the 10 role. And for a while it worked. But then it went downhill from there.
What has disappointed me the most about him this season has been his passing.I think he is an elite passer and has supreme vision. Before this season I would have put only Xavi ahead of him in both those categories.
Now I rate Messi ahead of him too.
He was that damn good at Arsenal at passing(especially final passing) and vision.
But surprisingly he hasnt shown us the passing ability or the vision.Maybe its playing with new team-mates and a new system but for his standard passing has been below par.I certainly expect him to improve in that regard next season.
But the more important question is where does he play.He cant play CM in a 4-3-3 cause he sucks there. The other option is as a 10 in a 3-4-3 but the majority are against a 3-4-3.
So whats the way forward for him?

I wasn't for his signing either but I have come to accept that he's a massive talent despite not really finding a proper role in the squad...yet

I really don't know how he's going to be ideally used unless the 3-4-3 is the goal

Well he needs a fixed positon. AM for me. No need to be placing him CM, AM, CAM, LW and CF.

18 assists this season, right?...That's pretty remarkable considering how little he ended up playing

Little? What are you on about... he played plenty of games. He should have played less to be fair.

On the question, he should play CM, he just needs to learn the role. If he's a defensive liability, Thiago is a defensive asset. If Cesc is to play, we can always do a variation like so:

Thiago - Sergio
Cesc

I think he should be an impact sub, changing the dynamic of the team.

If he comes on, we flip the triangle, with say Busquets and Xavi deep and him at the top of it.

Only problem with it is, Xavi generally comes off/is rested before Iniesta.

For me, thats fine, Thiago plays, like he should.

But are they going to do that? Put Thiago on before Cesc everytime Xavi doesnt play or comes off?

I would, I dont think they will.

I wouldnt want Iniesta deep either tbh.
