Re: Arsenal Lobby
Arsenal have been forced to ditch plans to play Thierry Henry today.
Boss Arsene Wenger wanted Henry to feature in a Premier Reserve League match with Sunderland this afternoon in a bid to improve his match fitness.
But the Gunners and Henry's representatives have still yet to receive paperwork from New York Red Bulls regarding the two-month loan agreement.
So Henry, 34, is set to make his debut from the bench against Leeds in the FA Cup third round at the Emirates on Monday.
There are no other reserve fixtures scheduled before then. The Frenchman's last match action was for New York on November 3.
Leeds are struggling to find a centre-back pairing to keep out Henry and his team-mates.
Patrick Kisnorbo joined Alex Bruce, Leigh Bromby and Tom Lees on the treatment table on Monday.
Kisnorbo is nursing a badly bruised knee following a crunching tackle with Burnley's Jay Rodriguez.
But midfielder Danny Pugh has turned his loan deal into a £500,000 permanent switch from Stoke.

Part that stuck out to me:
There have also been no demands from the Walcott camp, although the fact that preliminary discussions have begun can be regarded a positive sign that both sides are open to a new deal.
So much for that £85k p/w bollocks, eh?

Re: Arsenal Lobby
The players' departures to Barcelona and Manchester City respectively in the summer saw Arsene Wenger make a number of last-minute signings as he looked to shore up his squad following the 8-2 defeat to Manchester United.
Walcott has suggested that since Fabregas and Nasri left the club, the Gunners have begun to work harder as a unit, and that losing two talismanic midfielders has increased the bond between the current crop of players at the club.
"I'm not saying that Cesc and Samir were individual players, they were great team players, but when you lose two top players everyone needs to come together," Walcott told Arsenal Player.
"The manager has brought in some good additions and we are a bit more of a team, we work harder when we haven't got the ball.
"We have a lot more clean sheets as well, and having [Thomas] Vermaelen back is very important as he is a massive player for us."
Whilst the former Southampton man has praised his side's improved defensive record, he is aware that the Gunners need to ease the goalscoring burden on striker Robin van Persie.
"The next thing the whole team needs to share the goals more,” Walcott admitted.
"Samir and Cesc used to get quite a lot of them and Robin van Persie has been getting most of them so that's our next step."

Need to get Theo locked up.
He's been on a meh run of form, but these last 2 seasons he has improved tremendously by adding different aspects to his game.
This year hopefully he can add some consistency to those great crosses and his finishing.

Twenty-five of the 46 players (54 per cent) got on the scoresheet during the year, scoring exactly 100 goals between them, at an average of four each. There were also two own goals in Arsenal's favour.
I think RVP kinda skewed the average...

Re: Arsenal Lobby
Find precision positioning
Learn to be a full-back in reverse after a surge forward, with expert Andre Santos of Arsenal
“As a full-back, I’m good going forward but often caught out of position when we lose the ball. Any tips on improving my positional play?”
Henry Jones, via email
Andre Santos says:
“I was like that: attacking was my strong point, but I didn’t like to defend. To be a complete full-back, especially here in Europe, you have to improve your positioning, and this will only happen if you focus on your weak points.
There are two important lessons about positioning for full-backs. First, if you lose the ball, you have to come back at the same speed that you were going forward – or even faster.
Second, if you lose the ball when you are out of position, you have to come back and cover the space where you were coming from, and not exactly your position.
If you were running from midfield, for example, you have to run back to the midfield, as your position in defence might be covered by another defender.
Ask a skilful team-mate to try and dribble past you. Ask them to repeat it several times after you’ve just run back from high up the pitch.
You’ll improve your tackling after running back from being out of position, when your legs can be weary."

Re: Arsenal Lobby
Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin is eagerly awaiting confirmation of club legend Thierry Henry’s return to the Emirates Stadium on a two-month loan.
The New York Red Bulls forward is waiting on paperwork to clear for him to seal a temporary return to the Gunners, for whom he is the highest-ever goalscorer.
“The first time I saw Henry, he really impressed me — his arrival will be a bonus for the whole team,” Coquelin told The Sun.
“You can tell he's up for it and he's lost none of his quality. It's already a real plus point for us in the changing room.”
Henry has already been pictured in this season’s Arsenal kit as manager Arsene Wenger seeks temporary cover for Gervinho and Marouane Chamakh, who are both departing for the Africa Cup of Nations this month.
The French star left the Gunners in 2007 to join Barcelona before moving on to MLS in 2010.

Re: Arsenal Lobby
Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta has revealed that he was close to deciding to play for the England national team at World Cup 2010 before he realised that Fifa rules would have prevented it.
The 29-year-old arrived in the country in 2005 when he joined Everton and says that he has developed an affinity for the culture ever since, but realised he was ineligible to pull on a Three Lions shirt due to not owning a British passport at the time when he represented his native Spain at under-16 level.
“If it was any other country I would have had to say no, but because it was [England] I said I would have to think about it,” Arteta told Arsenal’s official website.
“England has been really good to me professionally and personally. In the end I didn't have to make a decision because I wasn't allowed to play because of Fifa rules.
“At least it was nice to know that Fabio Capello and his staff were thinking about bringing me into the national team.
“I feel English in some ways because I have spent the biggest part of my career here. Obviously I know how English people think, what they do, the culture - I know everything.
“I have to adapt to that so I am living life like an English person. It's funny, I look at my child and hear her talk English, it's amazing.”
The former Rangers playmaker also revealed Xabi Alonso, now of Real Madrid, helped convince him to make the move to England when he was plying his trade at Liverpool.
“We used to live five minutes away from each other and play at the same clubs when we were young,” said Arteta of their time in his birthplace of San Sebastian.
“We had a good relationship but then I went to Barcelona and he stayed. Then suddenly, five years later he went to Liverpool and I went to Everton and we lived next door to each other.
“It was crazy but that's what football brings you sometimes. You never know where you are going to end up.
“Obviously I spoke to him and he said Liverpool was a really nice city to live in, that the fans were unbelievable, there was a big rivalry between the two clubs and it was a good experience.
“I didn't have any doubts about moving there and that was partly thanks to him.”
Arteta has not looked back since, making 229 appearances in all competitions for both Everton and Arsenal since his arrival in England.
Would have been great for England,IMO.
