NEW POST: Substandard deadline day in Premier League as FFP looms - http://bit.ly/yXXAdK
Re: Arsenal Lobby
http://arsenalyouth.wordpress.com/2012/02/02/almunia-left-out-of-premier-league-squad-but-eisfeld-included/
Arsenal submitted their Premier League squad before today’s 5pm deadline, and all contracted players who are not currently on loan have been included, with the exception of goalkeeper Manuel Almunia. Vito Mannone, however, has been included, despite currently being on loan at Hull City so that Arsenal meet the criteria for home grown players.
Almunia was omitted as the club had to leave out one non-homegrown player. Thierry Henry is named, as is new signing Thomas Eisfeld, who is included on the unlimited under-21 players list. Alban Bunjaku and Jeffrey Monakana are also on the latter list as they are still contracted to the club despite having recently trialled at various other sides.
Squad (Players in bold are homegrown)
Andre Santos, Andrey Arshavin, Mikel Arteta, Yossi Benayoun, Marouane Chamakh, Abou Diaby, Johan Djourou, Lukasz Fabianski, Gervinho, Kieran Gibbs, Laurent Koscielny, Vito Mannone, Per Mertesacker, Ju Young Park, Tomas Rosicky, Bacary Sagna, Thierry Henry, Alex Song, Sebastien Squillaci, Robin van Persie, Thomas Vermaelen, Theo Walcott.
Under-21
Benik Afobe, Wellington, Chuks Aneke, Martin Angha, Zak Ansah, Kyle Bartley, Hector Bellerin, Samir Bihmoutine, Daniel Boateng, George Brislen-Hall, Alban Bunjaku, James Campbell, Joel Campbell, Reice Charles-Cook, Francis Coquelin, Craig Eastmond, Kyle Ebecilio, Thomas Eisfeld, Zach Fagan, Emmanuel Frimpong, Samuel Galindo, Ben Glasgow, Serge Gnabry, Sead Hajrovic, Isaac Hayden, Conor Henderson, Gavin Hoyte, Anthony Jeffrey, Carl Jenkinson, Henri Lansbury, Damian Martinez, Sean McDermott, Jernade Meade, Ignasi Miquel, Ryo, Jeffrey Monakana, Elton Monteiro, Rhys Murphy, Nigel Neita, Kris Olsson, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Oguzhan Ozyakup, Aaron Ramsey, Josh Rees, Philip Roberts, James Shea, Wojciech Szczesny, Jon Toral, Sanchez Watt, Jack Wilshere, Jordan Wynter, Nico Yennaris.

Re: Arsenal Lobby
It means he'll be confiend to reserve games for the rest of the season and will most likely be let go in the summer. Also means that we'll only have two senior keepers from now until the end of the season, so if both Szczesny and Fabianski our out at the same time then we'll to play James Shea, Damian Martinez, Sean McDermott or Reice Charles-Cook.

Re: Arsenal Lobby
Arsene Wenger is facing the humiliation of a bizarre BIN-BAG protest as angry Arsenal fans begin to vote with their feet.
One supporters’ group is urging their fellow Gooners to put black bin liners over empty red seats at the Emirates during Saturday's match against Blackburn to highlight falling attendances.
Manager Wenger has seen his side slip to seventh in the table after taking just one point from their last four games, and there have been Twitter and Facebook calls for the bin-bag protest plus chants of “we want our money back” during this weekend's lunch-time clash.
Wenger also faced a severe backlash on Twitter, while the Arsenal Supporters’ Trust called on the board and majority shareholder Stan Kroenke to engage more with fans after the club refused to make any big money signings in January.
Kelvin Meadows, of the Where Has Our Arsenal Gone and Black Scarf Movement, insisted that their group would always support the team and Wenger, but questioned the direction of the club.
Meadows said: “What was the point in six per cent price rises last summer if the club do not want to spend? We will always support the team and Wenger deserves respect and to be treated with dignity after everything he’s done for the club.
“If Robin van Persie signs [a new contract], then great. But I don’t know many people who would blame him if he did go in the summer because is the club going to buy players to rebuild the team again?
“It’s not the players’ fault. It’s not even their fault if some of them are not necessarily good enough. But we would like answers from the board.”
The AST also issued a six-point bulletin to members and questions to the board after Arsenal’s latest setback - a goalless draw at Bolton which leaves them in danger of missing out on a £30m-plus Champions League qualification jackpot at the end of the season.
Although the AST insist they will remain behind Wenger for the remainder of the campaign, they urged the club to freeze ticket prices after last year’s increases and called on Kroenke to engage with fans.
Arsenal remain fully committed and supportive of Wenger, whose contract runs until 2014, while the club insist that no decision has been made on season ticket prices.

I don't know about you, but playing Shea/Martinez doesn't look that bad compared to the blondie.

this season's stats are crazy. walcott second when he's been terrible with the exception of maybe 4 or 5 games (where he was decent) and gervinho 3rd when he should be in double digits....

Re: Arsenal Lobby
Arsenal are keeping a close eye on Montpellier striker Olivier Giroud, according to club scout Gilles Grimandi.
The 25-year-old Montpellier striker, who has bagged 15 goals in 20 games this season, is one of several possible summer targets being tracked by the Gunners ahead of possible transfer action this summer.
Confirming that Arsene Wenger’s team are monitoring a host of targets in Europe and South America Grimandi told French website Le 10 Sport:
“We look at a lot of interesting players, and we are following Giroud.
“We’re following his progress, it’s impossible not to look at the way he’s progressed in the last two years.
“Now we must try to assess the scope for improvement. I think he has the potential for the best clubs in Europe.
“That’s one of the players that we’re currently looking at, but there’s also between 20-30 other players from Europe and South America that we’re keeping an eye on.”

Re: Arsenal Lobby
You shouldn't, really. Giroud's goalscoring record is hell of a lot better than Chamakh's, for one thing, and isn't just a one season wonder having had good seasons with Tours and Montpellier.
Also there'd be no chance of getting the guy cheaply. Montpellier's chairman has slapped a £40mil price tag on him. Suggests that he won't go cheaply if someone comes in for him.
