Before David Robertson blew that save the another night against the Rays filling in for Rivera, he hadn't given up a run since August 2011 including postseason. His ERA since June was 0.22. He's developed into one of the best relievers in baseball and probably the best set up man.

Josh Hamilton is just is a ZONE right now... wow. Hit another Home Run today, he's got 9 or something this week alone.

Josh Hamilton 18 Home runs, the San Diego Padres as a team have 16, the Cubs as a team have 18.

He's on pace for like 92 home runs, 200 rbis

Why even continue to pitch to him?

Damn, Cardinals dealing with a slump now. Better to be slumping now than late in the season. I just hope they can rebound

Yanks have been struggling too. Although it was nice seeing Andy Pettitte pitch 8 innings of shut out ball like it was 1998.

Yankees could be up for sale soon.

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/yankees/yankees-sale-rumors-swirl-baseball-banking-cirlcles-sources-article-1.1083600

I knew Hal and Hank weren't like George.

George was a boss though, I know for a fact that even if he let Cashman make that Montero deal last winter, he would have followed it up by signing Fielder.

If the Dodgers sold for 2billy(all cash apparently Surprised), what would the Yanks sell for?

Edit: Hank shot down the rumors afterward. But a lot of people think Hal wants to sell.

Just watched Verlander throw a 102mph fastball... then he came back with a 83mph change for the strikeout. Just wrong

Verlander is crazy. He almost had another no-hitter not too long ago as well.

Speaking of fireballers, Aroldis Chapman is finally the closer for the Reds. Reminds me of Rivera. All he throws is the fastball. Straight gas every time lol.

^ Yeah I wished the Yanks signed Chapman before the Reds did a couple years ago. Would've been great to have esp since half our bullpen is hurt.

I remember the Cardinals were interested in signing Chapman before the Reds got him but bowed out strictly because it was too pricey. Would have been great to get him.

Ivan Nova another win last night shutting out the Braves for 7 innings. In his last 14 road starts he's 11-0 Shocked and going back to last year he's 24-6 in all starts. Not the best ERA but you can't argue with the record.

And Bryce Harper is now hitting almost .300 with 6 HR's 18 RBI. Guess he won't be going back to the minors anymore.

Lol, it took Trout 40 games to put up numbers. He did nothing in his first year, smh @ a .280 OBP, pitchers put up better #'s. Harpers in his 1st year, Trout his 2nd. Even still Harper has as many HRs, more triples, more walks and less SO's in less At Bats.

40 games in his 1st year. Trout is still technically a rookie.

Through 40 games Trout has a better avg, obp, slugging, more steals.

Harper has 148 AB and 29 SO = SO every 5.10 AB's
Trout has 161 AB and 34 SO = SO every 4.73 AB's

So don't use a stat that's worse than the player you're comparing him to to explain why he's better.

Yeah, just ignore the rest of the post... And btw that still makes sense, the "in less AB's" part was for the 3 previous stats. Learn to read, it'll help.

Here maybe this'll simplify things for ya:

First 40 games in the majors each:

Trout: .220avg/.281OBP/.390SLG/.672OPS/87 OPS+/5 HR/16RBI/20Runs/9BB/30SO

Harper: .295avg/.381OBP/.527SLG/.908OPS/145 OPS+/6 HR/18RBI/29 Runs/20BB/29SO

Not even close really tbh

1 start every 5 games even the best hitter will be hitting shitting. We're comparing their first season as starters not as professionals and it's clear Trout is the better player.

Wouldn't it make sense to compare them both @ 19 years old. Trout has had a 40 game head start on Harper, and is a year older at this point. Yes he's putting up better numbers now, but by the end of the season it'll be a lot closer.

A-Rod tied the all-time Grand Slam record last night held by Lou Gehrig.

Yankees: 8-2 in their last 10, best record in the AL now

You could argue that yes.

But due to the inconsistency in Trouts playing time his first year, constantly being called up and sent down, it would make sense that you would compare them in their first season as starters and not their first season as professionals.

Plus he started getting called up in the middle to end of the season when pitching is zero'd in.
And not to mention that the 40 games he did get was very inconsistent so he couldn't put any rhythm together. The angels had wells bourjos hunter and abreu as the 4 outfielders.

You might be able to argue that because Harper broke in at 19 and Trout at 20 makes Harper a better player.
But you look at the Angels outfield with 11 Gold Gloves and that's not easy to do.

Not a Mets fan at all but RA Dickey the knuckle baller is having a crazy season. Has 25ks in his last 2 starts, two 1-hitters in a row, hasn't allowed an earned run in like 40 innings? Damn.

Oh and the Yankees are in absolute beast mode(watch me jynx them now )

It will be good to have some games tonight after the 4-day break. Hopefully the rest will do my Orioles some good and they can get their starting pitching settled enough to stick in the race. Thumbs up

Have you seen the lawsuit that Rawlings filed against Wilson? Over Brandon Phillips wearing a Wilson glove that has gold accents.

On Friday, Rawlings filed suit against rival manufacturer Wilson in Federal Court, over the glove Wilson supplied to Reds second baseman Brandon Phillips, according to courthousenews.com.

Phillips’ glove “includes metallic gold-colored webbing, stitching and lettering,” violating Rawlings’ Gold Glove trademark, according to the lawsuit.

From the courthousenews.com story:

“Not only is Mr. Phillips using the infringing Wilson glove in the field during games, warm-ups, and practices, but defendant and Mr. Phillips also have promoted the very existence of the glove (and its connection to Wilson) through various channels and media,” the complaint states.

Rawlings wants Wilson enjoined from distributing any glove that contains “gold webbing, gold-colored fabrics or leather, gold lettering, gold stitching, any other metallic gold-colored material, or any other features that are confusingly similar” to Rawlings’ Gold Glove trademarks. It also seeks damages for trademark infringement, unfair competition, trademark dilution and false advertising.

Note that Phillips isn’t being sued.

Wilson is the lone defendant. Phillips is not a party to the complaint.
