Yes, they have final say on a criminal offence, but that wouldnt stop the FA having their own investigation. Big ban could be coming still.

This is interesting then, the fa have shown, they don't need concrete proof to hand down a punishment.

Doubt he gets away completely without a suspension.
Would make Enlgish football a joke after they clutched at straws and suspended Suarez.

Interesting.....
Suarez and Terry cases are quite similar, FA can really look like idiots now.

Re: terry going to court
Word against word without the slightest hint of actual evidence got Suarez a 8 game ban.
Video evidence and nothing happens?
That would be worse with anything I saw in recent memory...In La liga they are consistent with there ineptness

Re: terry going to court
I expected the decision to go Terry's way the moment the FA gave the case to the court and announced that the case will be examined after the Euros.
Not sure why people are surprised here.

Re: terry going to court
Thing is Terry did'nt do anything wrong, the verdict is correct.
As far as Suarez goes, that really shows how f*ckin retarded the FA are.
But i dont consider Terry and Suarez cases to be similar, there was proof Suarez uttered certain words.
No such proof with Terry.

Re: terry going to court
The FA are a joke in so many aspects. The whole case is just total shambles. Its so funny how the media are quick to apply the "trial by media" verdict on someone. Even though they don't actually say it directly, they do everything to imply that you're guilty. Suarez getting an 8 match ban had a lot to do with the media.

Not entirely true as Terry admitted to calling Ferdinand a "*bleep* black *bleep*" but his defense was "sarcastic exclamation"

Suppose, although Anton Ferdinand's case wasn't exactly convincing tbh.
So i believe Terry's words, he also claimed this in his interview with the FA over a year ago.
So yeah the correct verdict IMO, for what it's worth i considered Suarez ban extremely harsh.

Oh, I agree the verdict was absolutely correct as I stated a couple of pages back.
Tbh I dont want to reopen the Suarez can of worms. It still infuriates me.

Re: terry going to court
No matter the excuses English/Chelsea people come here and give, the truth is that every adult who followed Suarez and now Terry case, know for sure that they are indeed unjust people and masters of double standard.
Disgrace...
I mean it's not like the first time or as if we didn't already know what the verdict will be.

Considering the FA have set a precedent where they require less evidence to convict (balance of probability vs reasonable doubt), it would stand to reason that they will now hold their own investigation. Not sure how often the FA follow the reasonable path, though.

There was more proof that Terry potentially said such words than Suarez, as there was actual video to be analysed.
Beyond the video, it comes down to witness testimony. In both cases the defendants testified that they DID say something but that it was misconstrued; one due to cultural differences (and backed by linguistic experts) and the other due to missing context. The cases are similar enough, except for the video evidence.

Re: terry going to court
This is an utter disgrace, how the hell Terry got away with this is beyond me. It's Gerrards case all over again, just with no obviously biased jury. Terry admited to saying the words, in a, and this is my favourite part, sarcastic manner, in respons to Anton accusing him of calling him a "black c**t", yet, and this is where it gets funny, Anton says he never heard Terry use racist words and didn't know that he did until his gf showed him the video. Which raises a question which the prosecution was too stupid to ask, if Anton never head Terry use racist language, and so never accused him of using it, why the hell did Terry use the words?
Anton was at the ther side of the pitch when Terry was shouting it out, what did he think he said. What I find interesting is Drogba and most importantly Mikel didn't sign the paper about Terry's character. Mikel was right there and turned his head at Terry when he was shouting at Anton.
If using abuse langauge in a sarcastic manner can let you off be prepared for trouble.

Re: terry going to court
What I find funnier is how professional lawyers and a justice court took on the matter and thoroughly investigated it, came out with a decision and ended it......yet you sit behind your computer and you seem to know a lot more than them.......apparently.Jonathan28 wrote:This is an utter disgrace, how the hell Terry got away with this is beyond me. Just say you WANTED Terry to be found guilty and do not actually care if he's really guilty or not. Hypocrisy.

Re: terry going to court
Let's be realistic here. There was very, VERY little chance that Terry was every getting convicted by a criminal court and the verdict is correct, if not fair and right. On the basis of the prosecution needing to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Terry said what he did in a malicious manner the odds were always stacked against them.
HOWEVER, the FA do not need to prove it beyond a reasonable doubt; they merely need to have evidence showing that, on the balance of probability (i.e. more likely than not), Terry was not simply repeating it to punish him. With the video evidence and testimonies of those involved, as well as the convoluted circumstances surrounding Terry's defense's claim, it is likely he will/should be found guilty by the FA and punished. That said, it wouldn't surprise me at all if the FA attempt to weasel out of it, as Terry was England captain and is part of the England national set-up, and they've already taken the chance to get one over on UEFA in terms of racism.

Re: terry going to court
I personally think its only fair for JT to get a lengthy ban from the FA even as I maintain that he's "innocent". If Suarez had not gotten that ban, then there would be no reason to ban JT but right now the FA must ban JT to have some consistency at least.
