yeah but you don't bench a guy like him easily. either you let him go or you let him play. ask villas-boas.

because seriously i would never want him in my team as a sub or back-up player.

I thought he was average even when he was getting raving praise tbh, I never felt he had the positioning to make up for his lack of pace, or the smarts to use his great physique.

Oh and OP you picked a wrong time to troll buddy. He actually had a great game today. Try and watch games once in a while.

Keep repeating this dross. It'll never be true.

At his peak he was an immense player.

He's been in decline for years now, TBH.

I mean just like last season I counted like 4 slips that lead to goals. He was decent when Chelsea played a deep line, sure, but complete crap otherwise.

Everyone(including Cole) looked horrible in that awful AVB high line.

So you're telling me an older player declines? Brilliant Highburied, you should be some kind of manager! Rolling Eyes

Terry aint gonna get better but he still is important to us on the field. in a few years it will be Cahill-Luiz in defence and I can see us play those two more and more in the future.

haha wtf is wrong with people? terry is a good player. always has been. he's getting/is old so he is on the decline obviously like any other player his age, but he's still good and there's no need for a terry is declining thread

Terry's still a good player he just isn't one of the best anymore, nothing wrong with that it happens to everyone.

He still is one of the best scoring CB's but his pace has declined and he was never blazing fast to begin with.

What was hilarious is when AVB tried to play him in a high line, now that was a comedy show. Again not Terry's fault as that's not his game but still, I have never seen someone so stuck in his ways as AVB when he coached Chelsea.

Priceless reaction from fanboys here.

Ok he was ur captain for many years but dont act like 'one of his pals in the team' because the truth sometimes hurts and people get old so the fact is Terry is slowing down Wink

RG

Yes Mikel made a shit pass but terry lost his mark way too easilly.

Cahill > Terry

But obviously he won't be benched, not this season at least. How long does his contract run anyway?

how do you come up with such brilliance? obviously he is, that is why we are not playing the high line anymore. when we play deep he is still our best CB, he puts his heart and soul into the club and every match he plays, that is more that can be said about any Arsenal player. He is nothing less than worshipped by Chelsea fans everywhere, any Chelsea fan will tell you they don't want Terry benched, his leadership is more important than any of his defencive abilities.

He will be around for a few more years yet.

His contract will expire when he wants to retire. He is contracted to the end of the 2014 season. He will be almost 34 by then.

His contract runs out in the summer 2014 if transfermarkt info is correct.

Terry is still excellent player for me, doesn't need benching but the teams collective defensive play need to improve.

Quags goal was entirely due to Mikel. One he lost the ball, and second he should've at least closed down on his man instead of standing there like a statue.

Terry is Chelsea's Best defender. Not just because of his quality, but because of his leadership. He organises his defence better than anyone and his tactical awareness is miles better than the likes of cahill and luiz.

see the match against atletico. Chelsea wouldn't have conceded at least 1-2 goals if he was playing
