Haven't watched cricket in a while.
Has the SA team regressed? Last time I checked, they had some pretty good bowlers in Rabada and Tahir.

The England game was the first I've seen of them in a while. Rabada is quality, one of the best death bowlers around at the moment, and Tahir is good as well. They didn't look great in the field, though, and their batting made England's attack look a lot better than it probably is (even with Jofra Archer added to the mix). I think NZ have more about them so I'm backing them to join the "big three" instad of SA.

Looking at Afghanistan as one of the minnows right now...do you all remember when Zimbabwe had a good team back in the days? Was a lowkey fan of Andy and Grant flower (one of the few successes in terms of both brothers making it), Streak as well. They weren't great but capable of causing upsets.
Haven't heard of them in a long time.

Seems they have a lot of financial problems and can't field a competitive team. I remember the Flower brothers well since both of them played for Essex at the time I was getting into cricket, though I saw Grant more than Andy. Andy Flower coached England, of course.

Good ol'days FFS. Do you remember olonga? Fecker eliminated us from world cup. Also streak was such a underrated bowler. One of the best swinger of ball imo.

The new format is a bit weird. Not sure why India are playing so late or why a lot of teams play their 2nd match before they play their first

Maybe something to do with the venue? I honestly don't know.
I was just looking at England's schedule. Australia, India and New Zealand are their last three games in the group.
Getting South Africa out the way early may be a blessing. It means we play Pakistan, Bangladesh, Windies, Afghanistan, and Sri Lanka all in a row and have a good chance of racking up the points before it gets really tough.

What about the opening ceremony though
One of the worst opening ceremonies I've ever seen for a major event. Shocking stuff. And an extremely cringeworthy theme song to go along with it.
Did ECB/ICC lack the budget or something ?

Regardless, England should be breezing past most teams in this competition
This is the best England team ever assembled and I would be surprised if at worst, they don't make the final.

I'd go a step further and say anything but winning the whole thing would be disappointing for England. Not that there so much better than the competition, but with home advantage and the quality they have in the team, there's no better time to win something.

I really have been behind in my cricket because I didn't know Bangladesh has been this good at white ball cricket. Or maybe outside of Ngidi, SA just aren't that good at bowling or fielding with all due respect to Tahir. I've been watching him since I was in Secondary school ffs.

Bangladesh have been quite formidable for the last 2 years or two. I am sure they are like in the top half of the ODI ranking.
But this is one of their best innings still. Exceptional by the middle order.

Superb batting by Bangladesh but still looking at the pitch and how fast the outfield is, this should be chasable imo.
Weird decision to bowl first though.
SA don't look all that great at all.

Would like to thank Sky Sports for reminding me of the Australia/SA semis in '99 where in the jaws of victory, McDonald snatched defeat in the dumbest of ways. In case anyone forgot (like me):

Shakib is the fastest player to reach 5000 ODI runs and 250 wickets simultaneously. Best all rounder in the world.
