The Korean womens national team has Zero atleticism
Surprised theres no womans world cup thread.
South Korea is well in over their head against France.

Re: 2019 Women's World Cup
Let's make this the women's world cup thread. I'm watching the game right now. Glad to see women's football is growing. Hopefully Peru FA gets up their ass and starts paying attention to the women's team

2019 Women's World Cup
Here are the groups:
Group A - France, South Korea, Norway, Nigeria
Group B - Germany, China, Spain, South Africa
Group C - Australia, Italy, Brazil, Jamaica
Group D - England, Scotland, Argentina, Japan
Group E - Canada, Cameroon, New Zealand, Netherlands
Group F - USA, Thailand, Chile, Sweden
The only game today is the opener. France are beating South Korea 2-0 with ease. This is essentially a training match for them.

Literally just saw this thread. I created a thread for the WWC.
Edit: I'll merge these 2 together.

Re: 2019 Women's World Cup
I'm looking forward to this tournament quite a bit.
I used to think this is our tournament to lose, now I can't shake the feeling we're probably going to fall just short. France, Germany, Netherlands all look very strong along with several others.

I am quite excited for it as well!
Going to be supporting New Zealand but also hoping Sam Kerr and Australia do well too

Re: 2019 Women's World Cup
There's a lot of expectation on England now after recent tournaments (almost like the men's team; funny that). They have a good group of players, but Phil Neville as manager is going to hold them back from beating the big teams. Might reach the semi's if they get a good draw.
Keeping an eye on Viv Miedema and Danielle Van De Donk after their great seasons with Arsenal.

Yup, I catch a few Red Star games from time to time and Kerr has been tearing it up. Great player.

China putting up a decent fight so far. Only a matter of time before Germany find that opener though.

China have been very physical this half, but Germany have been super poor, especially in the passing phase.
China just now with an excellent chance with another bad giveaway as well.

Good match day. Norway-Nigeria turned into a beatdown, but the other 2 games were quite good.

Re: 2019 Women's World Cup
Australia-Italy was a lot of fun. Barbara Bonansea with an excellent brace. Juve women's team have a real gem on their hands there. She was dangerous all game.
Sam Kerr was good for Australia, but I their best player was probably Ellie Carpenter. She owned that right-flank the whole 90.

Brazil takes a 1-0 lead over debutants Jamaica. Christiane with a deft header. Jamaica will give Brazil fits with their pace if they can gain a foot hold in midfield. They've been getting overrun practically from the start.

England/Scotland being played at an incredible pace. England lead thanks to a VAR-given penalty and look dangerous.

Re: 2019 Women's World Cup
That was a fun game to watch. Scotland showed more guts in that 2nd half to get a goal back, but not enough to get even. England were comfortably better.
That tandem of Bronze and Parris looks super impressive.

Re: 2019 Women's World Cup
Bronze and Parris will both be playing for Lyon next season, too. Shows how much the women's game in England has grown when we have players now playing for the European champions.
Cuthbert for Scotland was good. She was good for Chelsea last season. Scotland just need to get Kim Little closer to her to give themselves a fighting chance of qualifying. I thought they were way too deep yesterday.

Re: 2019 Women's World Cup
It was maddening how static Scotland were up front. Their coach looked terrified of getting hammered on the counter and for good reason. England still did quite a bit of damage anyway.
Cuthbert was indeed good, easily Scotland's best player even starved as she was of service. Emslie made a lot of poor decisions, but looked lively as well. Little looked really isolated. As you said, she needs to be played closer to Cuthbert to get more involved in the attack.

Re: 2019 Women's World Cup
Today's games are:
Argentina - Japan
Canada - Cameroon
Smart money's on Japan and Canada to win those match ups. Won't be able to watch either as I'm at work currently.

Ellie Carpenter is fantastic, I really rate her.
Aus are in trouble now, they need a result against Brazil if they hope to get through the group.

Re: 2019 Women's World Cup
You watching Netherlands-New Zealand?
Thoughts?
I'm at work so I'm catching only bits and pieces of it, but what I have seen, it looks a good match. Lieke Martens is a proper footballer. Very good on the ball.

Very entertaining game, either team could have won it, shame we didn't get the win.
Yeah the USWNT are amazing and Thailand are not that good, the result isn't overly surprising.Young Kaz wrote:Thailand has no idea whats going on.

Re: 2019 Women's World Cup
I don't care about GD, they could have stopped at 9. But I'm not going to go on about it like it's a scandal or anything, it's not that big of a deal.
I haven't watched much but I have caught highlights.
I'm going to make a thread for this on it's own, but...there has been some really bad handling calls this world cup. The VAR call on the South African player clearing the ball and accidentally kicking the Spanish player was shocking as well.
I really hope the highlights are making the standard of reffing look worse than it is.
I am upset and a more than a bit angry with the way football is starting to treat handling though.
