Rafael Thread
I was happy Fabio got his debut cap for Brazil for the friendly v Costa Rica last Friday, but then in true Fabio/Rafael form, he got injured early in the 2nd half and was taken off.
Are we ever gonna see a game where neither of the twins pick up an injury and actually finish 90 mins of a match?

Re: Rafael Thread
he was very solid defensively, but was disappointing at going forward,i guess its because im used to Alves/Maicon.I hope its nothing serious.
Can someone tell me when Rafael is back?he has been out forever

Last I read, SAF said he will be back this month.
About Fabio, I read he walked off at the end of the match, so it's nothing too serious...

Re: Rafael Thread
Next Cafu and RC for sure
I really hope their injury problems get sorted out. I think both of their problems, sometimes, is when they go into a tackle they don't know when to pull out and go a 100% in.

They are top, top players and are definitely our future full backs, but they are making it so damn hard progressing due to theit brittle young bodies.

Re: Rafael Thread
With Rafael set to return from injury later this month, I just don't know how he will get back in the squad. Smalling is doing phenoimenally well there so far. He may not be as good as Rafael or fabio going forward and he does seem to slack with his forward passes at times, but defensively, he is a lot better and he offers us that extra height we need in the box alongside vidic and Rio/Evans.
Personally, i would play Rafael. i wouldn't want to put a halt to his progression and development..but at the same time, smalling and Jones are too good to keep out of the squad. Great problem for us to have ofcourse, as it highlights our great defensive depth in the squad, but at the same time, I'm sure it's a huge dilemma for SAF.

Re: Rafael Thread
Most teams have a defensive and a attacking fullback in their formation,I think saf will stick with smalling so evra has more freedom.

Re: Rafael Thread
he was solid defensively, but very weak at going forward, not sure if he was asked to stay in defensive mode.but then again, the pitch was absolutely unplayable.
i prefer Rafael tbh, more suited as a Alves sub

Fabio is kinda struggling form wise atm, plus like you mentioned, the pitch was horrible. It's pleasing to see that the new Brazil manager is giving him opportunities, which is what is getting me excited.

Re: Rafael Thread
I just want the both of them to get a good run of games without getting injured, especially for Fabio, who has never really had that.

Re: Rafael Thread
Talented, have everything in the locker to succeed at Manchester United, but the only problem is that they're made of glass. My main concern isn't the quality, because it's clearly present, but they can't seem to stay away from injuries, especially Fabio, who would probably be in contention for a starting position at right back/ left back. Evra, let's face it, is the only player in our squad without genuine competition and this has to change...

Re: Rafael Thread
They're too soft for English football imo. Which is strange because they go into tackles full speed ahead and play like mad men, yet the slightest touch or fall and suddenly they start limping. It's so fcking frustrating to watch and predictable too.
I lay the blame on them partially for getting us knocked out of the CC. Both went off and because of that, we couldn't sub in attackers to get the draw/win.
They are so talented but are too injury prone.

Re: Rafael Thread
Rafael has signed a new 4 year contract. Fabio has gone to QPR on loan for a season.
Very pleased about Rafael, hopefully Fabio can get the minutes he deserves and needs in order to come back and become our permanent LB.

Re: Rafael Thread
I think they deserve or should've deserved separate threads. It's a bit disrespectful to categorise them as one, imo.

Fabio will develop in Q.P.R just like how Welbeck did with Sunderland. He'll be our starting LB in 2013-14 season.

Re: Rafael Thread
He was great in that game. The talent is there, I was impressed with how well he did coming back from injury last season, but he needs to remain fit, if he is to stand a chance of nailing down the right back role as his own.

Re: Rafael Thread
Rafael had a shocker in the final. What on earth was he thinking when he hogged the ball just before Mexico scored.
- Then that back heel in a dangerous area.
- Then arguing with Juan
- Then sarcastically applauding the crowd.
So much
I'm one of his biggest fans, but I have to admit, when he effs up, it usually results in costing the team. He needs to get his act together, he's not a kid anymore.
