Was an absolute beast, gave Malouda no time and space on the ball. He doesn't get time with the national team mostly because he's always on the sidelines with injuries, which have hindered his progress. However, you can't doubt that, when he plays, we have one of the best right backs in the league.

Re: rafael is a beast
fck me he has improved defensively so much. Positioning, tackling and also going forward too. He was our best defender today bar none.
The countless times he nicked the ball off the chelsea forwards was very impressive...i can't stress it enough. He has been brilliant since coming back into the team.
I don't think he deserved to be subbed today too. his performance didn't merit that.

I also didn't think he deserved to get subbed, but I think it was more due to tactical reasons than his own doing.

Yep. Just a bit sad seeing a player having such a fine game get subbed. But if that tactical change meant us getting a result, i'm not complaining.
Rafael will def cement his place in the team. He is by far the best RB we have.

Re: rafael is a beast
I thought Fabio was just as good as Rafael has been this season judging by his display against Ajax. What we need is for Fabio to shake off his injury problems so he can give Evra a kick up the backside and some much needed competition fo his place. Because Fabio is just as good as Evra right now, with the tools to become even better during the season.

He was very good defensively v Ajax, as for going forward, he is better than Rafael imo. I think if he can get a few more games at LB, just like Rafael has benefitted from starting at RB, he will be even better than Rafael...the way he plays and moves, one can tell he is more talented.
He is just unfortunate that injuries, and the fact that Evra, who is never injured, is in his way...hampering his development.
He is a great full back though...the fact him and his bro are developing and becoming great players is good news for Brazil too.
