I couldn't see the match, but from the highlights, at least, it looked like Ozil had an outstanding game.

Personally, this Ajax match was one of my favorite Ozil matches. In the past, there were certain games where he went missing in quite substantial periode of time but because of 1 or 2 assists his performances got a bit overrated everywhere.
This match was the opposite of that kind of games. No goal, no assist (which made his performance kind of got a bit underrated everywhere), but his crucial involvement in the play throughout the game was undeniable. His significant role for the first goal counter attack and 1 or 2 noticable chances he created but missed by others were just the highlight.

Mustafa Ozil, the father of Real Madrid midfielder Mesut, has voiced his opinion that his son hasn't reached his peak yet and feels the Germany international has what it takes to become an integral member of Jose Mourinho's squad.

"I don't think that Mesut has already reached his peak. He still has plenty of potential," Mustafa said to Welt.

"Just look at how Barcelona play. Ten players are all running their socks off for Lionel Messi.

"Mesut is the No. 10 as well at Madrid, but the other players are not working for him. Mesut still runs between 12 and 14 kilometres per game.

"He collects the ball at the back and then directs play from midfield. That burns a lot of energy. I am confident that he will become the star player at Madrid if he continues to develop like this."

Maybe Sahin's come back will make him more comfortable on the pitch, and make the most of his skills to unlock other tactics.

While I don't agree with his father about his team mates not working for him (because they do) I do agree that he has a point. Aside from Cristiano and occasionally Benzema and Alonso, Ozil is carrying most of the creative duties on his own in the final third.

Hopefully Sahin helps with this when he plays.

Ozil's dad was so wrong if he thought whining like that would do any good for Ozil.
I don't think his point was about Ozil struggled carrying the creative duties. To me it's more like he's not happy that Ozil played with less free role now, which he indeed did, at least compare to last season. Maybe he's also not happy that Ozil played not at his best position in the last 3 games.
I understand, but disagree because what he's complaining about are not necessarilly bad things for Ozil. Either way, this daddy needs to stfu.
