Cant see why not. Sir Alex purposefully delegates a llot of the running ofthe club to others as to not rely on 1 man.
A lot of his signings are from the advice of others.

Smalling was playing at RB yesterday does that mean we wont count him as CB in united squad? That is advantage of having versatile players into the squad brings.Mascherano is world class DM and a good CB so it would be appropriate to put him in both positions as cover when talking of squad depth imo.

It's not about being able to field 2 squads, anybody can do that. That squad would even get beaten by la liga teams. It's about having WC players injured and the ability to back them up, Fabregas + Sanchez not included cause i'm talking about before this season. If Xavi and Iniesta got injured they didn't have the quality to replace them, but still won everything bar copa.

This isnt a fluke. if you successfully attempt to integrate great young players into your side, you have the fantastic overlap where the youngsters are as good as the 1st team, but they lack experience which is an excuse to start the senior players. When the seniors are rested, theyre not too old to feel insecure and hate the bench.

Utd's depth is bottomless. Probably the best.

You'd expect their first team to be way better but.............

United's first team should vs their reserves. Be a close game.

Ok they have 5 forwards for 3 positions now but its still nowhere near as good as Utd or City's depth.....

The only place where Barca have strong depth is midfield infact the only reason Barca dont struggle really badly is because they have players to play in various positions.....
