Re: Arsenal Lobby
So anyone give me a summary of today's news? Been busy all day.
See there must be something bout Cesc going, well I'm caught in two minds atm. Selling Cesc would just be selling our best player, someone who despite missing a lot of last season created 17 goals (I think). That's just not easy to replace. We get 40 million but Wenger probably will not spend much of it and would rather give Ramsey a chance so he doesn't "kill him." While I would love to have a midfield of Rambo and Wilshere but ffs, I'm tired of waiting on players developing because we'd still have to wait a few years till Ramsey contributes as much as Cesc. I don't mind developing them while they are waiting in the wings to earn a starting place but if they are starting and aren't ready yet, then that's a big no-no for me.
When Henry left, we came close to winning the league but on the other hand we had Adebayor, Van Persie and bought Eduardo that summer while now we only really have Ramsey, and Nasri whose best performances came out on the RW this season. Plus Nasri is away in one year if he doesn't sign. If we put him in the middle, we would have to replace him and I don't see Mata coming at all. I'm not saying we can't replace him but this transfer window was one where we should be strengthening and not replacing which is worrying.
And sorry for my lack of good grammar, it's harder on the iPhone .

Re: Arsenal Lobby
The only good thing would be that:
1. Fabregas is no longer captain, a player with real leadership and balls, winner's attitude can assume the responsibility. Van Persie or Vermaelen.
2. We no longer depend on Fabregas, have to work better as an unit, maybe learn to grind out results, grow some balls.
3. Lots of cash to spend on whatever replacements are needed.

All of Wenger's transfers; for how much, including add ons and future fees.

Van Persie was captain for quite a few games last season , especially towards the end of the season .... and we know how well tht went...
or was it because the team was so demoralized blah blah tht is why we couldnt do well?
Anyway , i would rather keep van persie on as vice captain and put verm as captain
Reason being :
1. van persie's injuries dont allow him to stay within the team continuously , we need a leader who is there all the team ( verms last year injury aside , i honestly think it was just a freak coincidence <--- story of arsenals life )
2. I honestly think it is more reasonable to keep a captain in the defensive and central midfield positions , you all the reasons why,so i wont go into that but i will add to it , defensive positions are all about organization and communication , if your captain is at the back , you have your leader , your voice , your organizer and your main communicator doing the job necessary for the team to work well as they know they cant be lax as the captain can see all infront of them ( the phrase "be behind you" comes to mind ) .
3. i can literally see verm smackin players heads if they do something wrong (not literally )
the only downside to verm being captain is tht rvp may not be too pleased.

I'm for Verma captain 3 seasons later, when Fabregas actually leaves. Till then, I just want him to get back some fitness and start putting in 50 games a season. Hes been doing 30 odd games a season for the last 3 years.

Re: Arsenal Lobby
Remember Fabregas has been pulling lots of games from a young age... not many people can pull it off and he's not Superman or something to do it. That's a drawback from relying so heavily on players from a young age, they wear out faster.
Our shitty medical team don't help, either.

Re: Arsenal Lobby
Transfer fees, actually. But wages would be an issue, too.
I mean, if I was Yaya Touré I probably wouldn't leave City when I'm earning close to £200,000 p/w.

I've been gone for over a week and I had no internet access. What do you guys think about Jenkinson and Miyaichi so far?

Re: Arsenal Lobby
I liked the look of Jenkinson. He was full of running and determined in his defending. Has a big frame, as well, which will help him against a lot of wingers. He even showed an impressive amount of pace, given his size.
Interesting to see how he does against much better wingers.
Miyaichi didn't show us too much on the offensive side but he did show that he's a very hard worker and willing runner. That's probably what I like about him the most.

Re: Arsenal Lobby
Don't know if anyone has seen this, but not too long ago Sky Sports did a special report on Thierry Henry. Thought I'd share it:
Part One
Part Two
Part Three
Part Four
It's about 44 minutes long. Enjoy.

What about Jenkinson's crossing? From what I've seen, and thats only a few videos, it seemed to be very good.

Re: Arsenal Lobby
Crossing looks okay, but he's only put in a small amount. Hard to judge with such a small sample size.
He looks comfortable on the ball though, which is a plus.

Also, not sure if this is accurate or not, but I noticed that Song played quite a few long passes during the pre-season. He never really made that many long passes over the top before...could this be a new dimension to his game that is being added? If so, then it is perfect because it means that he can be effective offensively without having to actually go forward.

Yeah.. I noticed.. Thought he was just being cheeky though.. If it is really something he is trying to add, then it is good.. But such passes require a good vision and understanding of how the players ahead of him move and their runs.. Fabregas is absolutely brilliant with those tidy chips.. Wilshere has been trying these too, but obviouosly needs to improve a bit more..
