Ederson's put in his personal best performance of the season, to be fair. They should've done better with their chances, but the rain is pouring down and the final balls haven't been ideal considering how much time the assisters have had to release those passes.

Taking of Sterling after 60 minutes for Nkunku who was lazy and lost was also wrong.

All Chelsea players left their hearts out there for Nkunku to come in and casually jog on the field and generally look sluggish and lost, I was a big fan of him at Leipzig but son, I am disappoint.

I thought that part was hilarious. Chelsea aren't fighting for a top 4 spot this season, so I'm not surprised that they're willing to invest a lot of energy into a big match like this, but then Nkunku comes in and gives them all a reality check Laughing

As for Nkunku, he left a top 4 team in the Bundesliga for a club in shambles that's not going to be playing Champions League football next season, and needs a lot of strengthening in order to challenge the top 4 in the league. He only has himself to blame for entering this Boehly infested circus.

I don't know how badly injuries affected him, but this looks like a mentality issue tbh.

I was certain he was special, really enjoyed his games in Bundesliga.

Did say you need to be patient with Hojlund. He was too good in Atalanta for him to be ruled out just yet. Very talented striker who's yielding the crops of whatever time has been given to him.

Either of you are welcome to look up the stats, and I’ll stand corrected if I’m wrong. That’s merely my impression.

Well, I do watch both Man United and Man City as often as I can these days. I recall a lot of people pointing out that Haaland was adapting to Pep's tactics during the first season, and that he would get even better with time, but now that he's supposedly adapted to it, it's killed every bit of entertainment to the way he plays and I can no longer tell if that's positive for the bottom line of his team either.

City can be a fun team to watch, but he's hardly ever a contributor to that entertainment factor with the role he's been assigned. I haven't checked the stats, but I imagine it's rare that he gets more than 25 touches in a single match. Højlund has been starved of service as well, but that's just pure incompetence from his team/manager and Rashford's horniness for glory. I don't know who's had more or less service, but I imagine they're not far apart. At least, it looks like it's moving in the right direction in Højlund's case, as they have been including him more recently. I won't provide stats or do the online research, like Harmonica likes to do, but I probably do try to explain my point of view more than necessary sometimes hmm

Im well aware of your problems with how Pep has essentially "streamlined" Haaland a frequent frustration I had with my own coaches towards a starlet I'd support in a similar position. However less touches won't necessarily mean less service for utilising his creative abilities that you see in him would mean more responsibilities as a whole and while Pep has a dreadful tendency to reduce a play just to their strongest strength and little else, it does mean Haaland gets to focus on goals.

I can't comment the Man Utd bc I admit to me I just couldn't see Højlund having more service then Haaland

I don’t know if streamlining is the right word for it. In some games, he doesn’t get the ball passed to him until after the 80th minute. It looks like he’s meant to pick up the scraps, stretch and wear out defenders, and hopefully be clutch with the chances that land in his general proximity.

That role makes him an odd sort of wildcard, but they’re basically playing with 10 men. There are exceptions, like their recent game against Brentford where he received a lot more crosses than usual, but I don’t think I’ve seen another player have such a excluded role. Not even Pippo Inzaghi.

If Arsenal had put in a fraction of the energy and enthusiasm against Porto, that they showed against Newcastle today, it would’ve been a completely different game. I hope they take the return leg more seriously.
