The napoleon movie is such british propaganda. Awful. British director ruined it

Anyone else watch Napoleon? I was really hyped for it but after the reaction it might be a pass for me.

Re: The Movie House - Part 11
The film seems to be the type where you will either love it or hate it. Not particularly negative but many seem to rate it very highly.
Ridley Scott always had a problem that he cannot condense it into a film to which the editor can work with.
Directors Cut never usually means better but in his case it does.
Kingdom of Heaven is one of the films that is so many lightyears better in the DC than the theatrical cut it's insane.
Will still see it cause Ridley Scott, Napoleon and Joaquin.

Re: The Movie House - Part 11
the movie is littered with historical inaccuracies, Napoleon depicted as one-dimensional with no charisma, shooting at the pyramids scene when in reality the battle took place 25km away from the pyramids, many redundant scenes with Josephine
It seems to serve more as a mockery of Napoleon as a historical figure which is I presume is what the British director aimed at

Meh, it's a movie and not a documentary. I always go into Ridley Scott's films like this with that in mind and I haven't been disappointed yet.
That said, I'll wait for it to come out on streaming.

People are really high on that movie, but it just didn't really land for me. I didn't like the format of the story and I just can't take Matt and Ben seriously as French knights and lords. Casting decisions like that are straight up immersion-breaking for me.

Napoleon lost Waterloo but he still lives rent free in british minds two centuries later clearly it's him who actually won

well then you definitely won't like Napoleon either because you literally just contradicted yourself from the your previous post

Watched Dumb Money, was surprisingly good and keeps you engaged throughout the movie, they didn't skip any details or try to dumb down real-life events.
The whole thing about Redditors taking on Wall Street giants was indeed one of the surreal moments of the pandemic, but it's probably too soon for Hollywood to already start pumping out movies about Covid era events lol.

I recommend Les quatre cents coups AKA The 400 Blows. I think it's "the first wave" from the french new wave from what I've heard. I loved it.

As I age n watch more movies I often tend to wanna see more different types so continuing, just saw Good Time (2017) with Robert Pattinson, very weird but good movie I thought for some reason. Made by the same director brothers that made Uncut Gems which was great. Recommended to ppl who wanna see some unconventional n good movies

Another that I blocked out n just saw it, glad I did, The Whale, wow... I love it, forgetton its by Darren Afronsky as well... been a fan ever since Requiem for a Dream He hasnt made a movie in some yrs so glad he did n continuing his evolution in making them. This was also impressive becos such a low budget apparently. Wtf casting Brenden Fraser as well... everyone pretty much only knew him from the Mummy. To do something like this all of a sudden n wins the Oscar, wow

Re: The Movie House - Part 11
Run All Night - another decent one. Liam Neeson has an infinite of similar movies but this one has some very good elements I thought, together with some flaws... had so much potential n coulda been much better. Loved the rivalry vs Ed Harris reminds me a bit of the classic Al Pacino v De Niro in Heat but Ed Harris didnt get enough part of the movies unfortunately... both great actors... pacing was great though n if cut out some of the flaws could have been a big of a different classic...

I've seen Aronofsky's name misspelled before but the way you've butchered it is something else
I watched Where the Crawdads Sing with my wife, it is a wonderful story. Not my cup of tea but well worth my time, would recommend.
The actress was gorgeous and portrayed her character so well.

Lol yea I can never get his name right
Crawdads looks interesting, might give it a watch some time.
Just saw Rebel Moon... so bad that I had to keep fast forwarding it. Zack Synder is officially shit nowadays... Army of the Dead was bad, this was worst. TOo bad, 300 n MEn of Steel were classics... I think its fair to say he is only good at visuals, some imagination of cool things n characters, but n arent good at much eles...

Re: The Movie House - Part 11
Put Rebel Moon on yesterday morning while my kids were opening their presents. Honestly, the worst thing about this movie is that it's unimaginative and contrived.
Snyder really phoned this one in. He's capable of much, much better than this.

Re: The Movie House - Part 11
Snyder is basically a rich mans Michael Bay.
In that I mean he is one for flair theatrics and big ideas but they often dont come through together. He is for some reason disliked by many which I dont get but hasn't hit the mark for quite a while now. Based on Dawn of the dead, 300, the underrated man of steel etc he is talented.
Rebel Moon looks ambitious but in plain bad faith.

Knock at the Cabin? (haven't seen it)
Surprised given it wasnt rated too well which has been the case for M.Night as of late.
Personally Im a fan of him with the Village being my favourite and very underrated.
