Glass Onion the Knives Out sequel getting really good reviews. Was a bit worried after i saw the trailer. Hoping it gets a theater run here in Namibia before it releases on Netflix around Christmas

Saw it this week. Fantastic film. Went into it completely blind so had no idea what it was about and it kept going in directions I did not suspect at all till the final 3rd. Really unique, original, film.

Same. I think I might've enjoyed it more had I not been aware of the hype. But my expectations for it were really high and it didn't live up. Well produced, decent flick, and I can even see why other people love it but just nothing spectacular for me.
I think it also didn't help I was binging The Last Kingdom when I saw this and their portrayal of Vikings and Danes made The Northman really unspectacular.

Re: The Movie House - Part 11
Watched so many films recently. Actually managed to complete my Nolan collection too.
The prestige - finally understood why this film has always been so hyped. Unbelievable film. Also Nolan really peaked around TDKR/Interstellar. You can see the difference between his peak year films and his recent decline.
9/10
Memento - what a unique film. Great direction. Top stuff.
8.5/10
Now you see me - 6.8/10
Now you see me 2 - 7/10
Nerve - 6/10
The purge 2021 - 5.9/10
The purge 2019 - 5.8/10
Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind - man this film was a lot more than I expected. Also quite deep if you think about it. How good is Jim Carrey in serious roles? 8/10
Smile 2022 - was a funny film. Tried to copy the ring in some ways 6.5/10
The platform - really liked this one. Thought it was quite provocative and excellent usage of symbolism. Indepth and you have to watch it once in your life. 8/10
The hunger games 1 - 7.3/10
The hunger games 2 - 7/10
The hunger games 3 part 1 - 6.5/10
The Accountant - not bad. Good entertainment. 7/10
The fracture - Anthony Hopkins is such a good actor. Specially when he is performing a Hannibal kinda role. Ryan gosling good too. Quite a good film. 7.3/10
Watched all of Daniel Craig's bond run
Casino Royale - 8/10
Quantum of solace - 7.4/10
Skyfall - 8.2/10
Spectre - 6.8/10
No time to die - 7.5/10
Drive - great film. Thought Ryan gosling was fantastic. Was getting taxi driver vibes at times from the atmosphere. Enjoyed this 8.3/10
500 days of summer - pretty good. 7.5/10
Escape room - decent watch - 6/10
Escape room 2 - 6/10

Re: The Movie House - Part 11
Inception is one of my favorite movies of all time. I really think it's a masterpiece. It blew my mind in the cinema first time watching, and it was such an event film. I remember what a big deal it was and virtually every one and their mother was talking about it when it came out. I think other than Avenger movies and Force Awakens the biggest event films in the past 12/13 years are still Avatar and Inception. The re-watchability factor is also magnificent.
Inception - 9.5
The Prestige - 9.0
The Dark Knight - 8.9
Interstellar - 8.9
Batman Begins - 8.5
Dunkirk - 8.3
The Dark Knight Rises - 8.2
Insomnia - 8.0
Tenet - 8.0
Memento - I'll refrain from ranking or grading as it's been 10+ years since I've seen it. Will have to rewatch for accurate ranking.

Casino Royale - 8.5 - GOAT Bond film for me. I love everything about this movie.
Skyfall - 8.2 - maybe GOAT Bond song, great movie.
Quantum of Solace - 7.0 - meh.
Spectre - N/A couldn't even finish, it was that much of a boring non-factor. Story was garbage and hardly even edited properly.
Haven't seen No Time to Die.

I'm super big on the first 2 Hunger Game movies. Fantastic dystopian films imo. 3 is just garbage though. 4 is better than 3 but still average.
The Hunger Games - 8.3
Catching Fire - 8.2

So I've heard. Might give that a watch too
Watched Mr. Nobody.
What an unbelievable film. Wow. Floored man. Visually stunning and masterfully crafted. Didn't know Jared leto was such a good actor. Such an in depth film with layers upon layers. Left me speechless at the end.

Haven't seen it. I'll put it on my list.

I've been doing a Tilda Swinton binge lately. She's such a talented and unique actor. Never misses with her performances.
Michael Clayton has always been a favorite movie if mine and my recent re-watch proved its place amongst the GOAT status tier. It's the best Clooney film imo. He has more famous roles like Oceans and more trademark Clooney charming roles like Out of Sight, but this is his best movie and his magnum opus imo. Tilda Swinton is amazing in this. Deserved Oscar.
Michael Clayton - 9.0
Constantine - 8.1
Only Lovers Left Alive - 8.1
Three Thousand Years of Longing - 8.0

Don't even play, man. I can't express enough how much I loved those 3 films. Each one was my favorite film of their respective year.
Inception - 9.5
Arrival - 9.3
Blade Runner 2049 - 9.1
I'm definitely going to check out Under the Silver Lake. I'll give you a rec as well. If you haven't seen it, watch Gattaca 1997.
Gattaca - 9.2 - one of my all time favorite 90s films.

I've watched Gattaca probably 27 times.
Whenever it's on TV I just can't skip it. Never saved anything for the swim back
For some reason though, when you see Gattaca you have to see The Island with Ewan McGregor as well.

Good list of upcoming 2023 movies. I like the inclusion of a lot of movies that won't really garner much attention.

Think i'm looking most forward to the Scorsese, Fincher films, and the Ari Aster film starring JoaGOAT Phoenix.
Sofia Copolla will never make something as good as Lost in Translation (2003) again, all of her other movies are passable and just about okay but nothing special, just finished watching Somewhere (2010)

The place beyond the pines
It was good. Great ost. I liked how it tried to structure itself although the execution lacked a bit. Feels like another director would have done a lot better with this. Act 1 was amazing.
Also think Ryan gosling is quite one dimensional. Same goes for Bradley cooper
7.2/10
