Out of nowhere though. Inzaghi wanted another midfielder and it was supposed to be Samardzic who had a medical and all then it fell through and we used the money on Pavard, so a cheap midfielder was to be expected.

In Serie A he is a DM "regista" ball distributor with reliable defense but in PL they might play him CM

Good midfielder with a complete skill set and you don't get to pay the PL tax
