BarrileteCosmico wrote:Was genuinely uncomfortable with that Rhaenyra - Cole scene. If the genders were switched I think there would be a lot more outcry about it.

The whole episode was uncomfortable. The previous scene between Rhaenyra and Daemon. Daemon in the throne room. Vyserys and Alissane. The kid. Etc.

Maybe the best episode so far. The direction was fantastic.

I feel like this latest episode was the first one that truly felt GoT-esque to me.

The time jump is really about to kick things up a gear.

Best episode so far. Peak GoT with the writing, acting & especially the tension that was building up in the last 20 or so minutes.

Wedding episodes in got are something else.

Ser criston has sansa level skills but doesn't have the excuse of being a naive 13 year old girl.

Jeffrey had it coming. Very poor choice by him.

They've done a great job with Viserys, gave him so much more depth than the book, and Paddy will definitely submit this episode for the Emmy

Yeah that was a really moving performance from him in this role. All 8 episodes, he's been such a sympathetic character. Paddy's commentary at the end of the episode is very much on point as well. For sure an awards-contending performance.

I don't think there's a lot of shows I've watched with so many time jumps in such a short time that have pulled it off well, but this show has managed to do it.

Yeah agreed. I think part of it is that they don't replace the entire cast, giving us some sense of continuity without having to reintroduce everyone. Although it also creates some odd issues, like Aemond looking older than Aegon now

Yeah that's an odd one. His look is very intimidating, which is going to work really well for where this show is going, but it's also a little off-putting as well.

Latest episode was so good, damn Viserys / Paddy almost made me tear up with that performance. Strange to say in the 8th episode but we're now at the stage of the storytelling where the Dance really begins.

Just in time for the 9th episode, which is typically the climax of the season. Full credit to HBO for making Sunday night TV exciting again.

I didn't think that highly of this show at the first half of the season to be honest.

But after E8, this is prime television.

Honestly I just never found the Targeryens very interesting throughout GOT. Daenerys included. Starks >>>>

I do now though.

Eventually the Starks (and just about all major houses) get pulled into the dance as well fwiw, so they'll make an appearance sooner or later

It appears the show's season finale is a 2-parter. Last night's episode (9) was the "Green" finale.

Next Sunday's 10th episode will be the "Black" finale. Interesting.

Regarding 9, that was a thriller of an episode. Very taut, very tense. And that ending.....*chef's kiss*.

2 episodes in, and i was already hooked after the first one... why were you guys saying it only became GOT-esque after a few episodes lol... i can already feel it. Pleasantly surprised. Writing is so good and clear - i already love all of the central characters. Not like GOT where there were so many characters right from the beginning where it took me a while to settle in.

lol why didn't they show the one on one fight between Daemon and the Crab King... or now that i think about it maybe it's because the Crab King was a cookie dough sitting duck after they lured his cronies out of the cave

That whole sequence was not the series' finest moment, lots of different parts didn't make sense. Epic nevertheless

the time jump between E5 and E6 is quite jarring to say the least... Rhaenyra looks like she aged 30 years while Ser Criston didn't age at all Laughing

did any of you also feel discombobulated by the time jump in E6 and E7? I mean... how did Otto come into the picture again and become hand? The new Rhaenyra actor is nowhere near as good as the old one... and the kids are annoying as shit... all over the place

We have a few comments back noting that they did well with the time jumps, so it's interesting you had such a different experience. Maybe as book readers we were able to fill in the gaps more easily.

yea i know the devious plan by that Little Finger-esque guy to kill the other hand, but i didn't see where Viserys forgave Otto and welcomed him back considering the important beat in the plotline where he fired and exiled him because of defaming Rhaenrys' name. And yet in the same episode he is absolutely maddened on the same matter when his own son questions the legitimacy of Rhaenrys' sons. Just feels all clunky and illogical to me.
