I saw this 2 months ago… Haven’t played it yet but it seems really interesting.
Plus it’s the only party RPG besides Dragon Age if I’m not mistaken.
Anyone played it?

Do you have any personal experience with the game?
The no fast travel part looks bothersome

bought the gaem for my PS3.
Lacks an "ennchanting" storyline but the gameplay is probably the best I've seen. Highly recomended for PS3 users. at least for a try

Dragon's Dogma Empty Re: Dragon's Dogma

I've played through it twice, great 1st time effort on action RPG by Capcom

Some highlights of the game:

- Combat is 2nd best in genre ( only slightly behind Dark Souls due to its non scaling) and the best thing about this game, think of it as a combination of Devil May Cry awesome combo & Shadow of Colossus huge epic fight. Combo makes sense and requires resource management unlike those flashy poopy nonsense in Kingdom of Amalur. Fighting giant creatures like Troll, Golem, Drake, Griffin is truly epic unlike Skyrim Laughing

- Classes are diverse and have distinctive playstyle unlike Skyrim Laughing . You can switch around classes anytime you want.

- Very detailed and colorful character customization, for the 1st time I can create character looks just like me. Character design also affects your player ability greatly

- Beautiful world design though a bit plain & streamlined.

- Good 3rd act story, that's given if you power through the snore fest that is 2nd act.

- Good end game if you are perfectionist who have to collect every piece of gears.

Some not so great things:

- Travel system, Capcom attempt on realism w/o fast travel or mounts backfired them badly. The world is just so small, you will have to run through each route at least hundreds if not thousands of times. I spent half the time in game running around.

- Side quests are forgettable & generic ( kill & fetch), there are some good ones but it's so rare, you might as well skip it.

- Wasted potential on companion story & character development since they're basically some ghost from other dimensions w/o emotions, purposes. They're only there to assist you in combat ( you need them though)

- Very confusing romance system, believe me you can get in bed with about 10 people in game ranked from ghost kid to a jerk looks like a butcher. There is no indicator of romance progress so you might max out all romance options and the game will pick one randomly for you.

Something I got from playing and if anyone wants to play should know:

- Don't do every side quests in 1st playthrough, since there is no scaling, you will become god around middle of the game. I walked straight to one of the boss in the end and beat the crap out of him. If you still want to do so, sprint past most of the mobs on the road to prevent gaining xp.

- When create your character, make sure he or she is tall enough. If you create a gnome, expect to spend considerable amount of time on inventory screen since he/she could carry very little weight. Same goes with your main pawn.

- Keep everything you pick up, you will have a chance to use it eventually.

- Do some research on romance progress if you don't want to end up a pedophile or a creepy gay.

Overall for me, Dark Souls > Dragon's Dogma = Skyrim > Kingdom of Amalur among those latest titles.

Twoism sumed it up pretty nice.
I am starting to see a major flaw of the game in the "no scaling" thing.
I wante to do all side quests and now I barely need heeling. Capcom is releasing a patch with "hard" difficulty though. let's see how it works out.
No fast travel can be a little hard to get used to, although now it seems to me it adds to the games realism and sense of surviving.
What makes it better than the competition for me is the party system.
Adds an element of strategy depending on the case...

It's Warrior & Mystic Knight, you probably already know this but you can acquire those quite early in game, in Ancient Quarry.

I went Warrior->Sorcerer->Mystic Knight...
It's an overkill. MK is a killing machine, buffing the whole party at the same time

I have to say, that some flaws aside, I am enjoying it more than Skyrim in the long run
