Summer Transfer Rumours 2022/23

I feel like they are doing the dance of death here.

They still haven't registered Christensen and Kessié yet because they need to raise funds before they can even begin to comply with the economic limitations. They are also the only Spanish club with a negative salary limit.

So a sane person would think first about clearing their wage bill by NOT extending Dembelé, but Barcelona couldn't care less about that and did it nevertheless.

Then you have FDJ who they owe €20 million in back wages from the deferral he took during covid. Not only did they tell him that he will not be receiving his money anytime soon but he has also been asked to take a further paycut.

This whole thing is one big clusterfuck that proves that even with the new management, Barça is still clueless and is very badly managed. I mean, how can you gamble the future of your club by selling 49.9% of BLM and 25% of your TV rights for immediate cash flow? I mean, sure, they must be thinking that the success that they will be getting with the new players will get them out of their slump and their revenues will do the rest. But this is a huge, huge risk.

Not to mention that there are still some big, big unresolved mysteries surrounding the way they have been operating thus far.

Laporte will sign the 2nd economic lever (matter of a few days) and it will allow ALL new players to be registered (including Kounde and Azpilicueta)

According to El Pais, Barca actually paid 60 millions for Lewandowski and asked them to report a lower amount to the press, 45+5. Adding the commission ofn20 mil for Pini Zahavi that’s a total outlay for 80 mil for the transfer

DeJong hasn't been left behind though has he. You'd think he'd join the rest of the unwanted players if Barca really wanted him out by hook or by crook. He'd be mad to leave now when Barca finally have a competitive team

don't think it means anything, Xavi would never leave a player of his quality behind regardless of rumors circulating (as he didnt with Dembele)

The talk was never that Xavi wants him out immediately, it was that if Frenkie has to be sold then Xavi would agree but only if B.Silva comes in return

Not really lol. I think 22/23 will be Busquets' last season then he's off to the US

Xavi wants Nico as backup at DM and Pjanić might stay as a backup aswell, not sure what happens next summer, however Frenkie was never going to be the one to fill his shoes because he's not a good single pivot

Fabrizio and other journos are not privy to Barça's accounting wizardry. It will probably be years before we know the full details of Lewa's total financial package. Just like Neymar's signing fee and Messi's final contract.

As for Neymar, the original fee was reported to be around €57million. Years later we found out it was closer to 80 million and involved many shady payments to the player's father.

Also, many of these deferred payments to players like Piqué and De Jong were not made public at the signing of the contracts. We just found out about them when Laporta took over.

Exactly Laporte is not bartomeu, the board at Barca changes in elections unlike at other clubs so the dynamics are a little different

Bartomeu and his shady dealings are not what Barca stands for, he did it in his own personal interests

I’m sure we knew Messi gets about 100m per year although maybe not the exact number, and Neymar’s father is also his agent and he was rumored to have received a 20m commission rightaway iirc
