well thats good news as long as he plays as wingback for juve i am happy XD
that red card on him was too harsh though should have been just yellow
Chiesa wasn't the fifth defender, if that's what you mean by wingback. He played well when he was wide, he even had an assist, and he was crap when he drifted inside, he even got a red card. Basically, when he's inside, he's a bull in a china shop

Very calm in possession, never misplaced a pass or gave the ball away. Didn’t put too many defence splitting passes forward, but there wasn’t necessarily a lot of opportunity to do so yesterday, especially after the red card
I’m convinced Pirlo will figure it out with this group but yesterday’s performance was very poor
Morata was very impressive yesterday. Got the goal, should’ve had another, offside by 1 CM for what would’ve been the winning goal. Worked so hard, got fouled so much
Crazy not to have Dybala and De Ligt play a minute yet and now losing Ronaldo for a couple games at least after his great start
Worried for the CL more than Serie A. The defence especially just leaks too many chances each game

We give them at least five games a year, I'm guessing it's to keep them fresh. I didn't pay attention to other teams, so I can't say if it's an Italian thing or just Juve, but we always had good backups: Buffon, Perin, Szczesny, Audero, Storari

Didn't watch the game so I'm happy to read about Morata being useful.
Doesn't sound too different from the Roma match except with less players available.
A preseason would have done wonders, new team, new coach, no time to try things out. Only 1 friendly match. I do think Pirlo will figure out this group but it will take time and more availability from the squad.
I'm glad Napoli, Inter, and Atalanta have lost points as well. IMO Milan can't be considered a contender yet for the whole season, so I have hope that we can figure it out in time to stop Inter from running away with the title.
With Ronaldo, Dybala, Chiellini, Alex Sandro, De Ligt, Szczesny, and the others back I hope that these cracks are covered.

Re: Calcio Saga 20/21
Serie A this year surely seems pretty competitive and entertaining. You have the dark horse Atalanta, Ibra-led Milan, the evergreen Napoli, Conte's Inter and Pirlo's Juventus all battling it out for the title.
I do think at the end, only Juventus and Inter will be left in the race. But with so many competitive teams, the league will be very exciting to watch.
Also, this might be the year Juventus' reign in Italy ends. We will see.

Sassuolo is an interesting club. They seem to have consolidated their position in the top-flight despite their limitations.

Atalanta 1-3 Sampdoria
Atalanta look completely off the mark and fatigued, playing in 3 comps for a year and half has clearly took a toll on them. Sign of their descent?

Re: Calcio Saga 20/21
It’s hard to keep up their style of play on a season with so many games played so quickly. They added depth to their attack but their defence is what’s troubling.
Due to their success, many of their players are now internationals too. They looked exhausted in the CL against PSG after something crazy like 13 games in 5 weeks in the Italian heat post covid.
From there, a shortened preseason to prepare and right back into full flight. They’ll beat a lot of teams but they’ll take some beatings too. I don’t think it’s a decline though, they’ll hunt for the top 4 again but now Milan and Napoli are much stronger, it’s a difficult season

Re: Calcio Saga 20/21
They rotated 6 or 7 players and Samp is in good form.
Its not a decline, Gasperini just has to find the balance between no rotation (end of last season) and too much rotation (this season) to manage 3 competitions.

Dybala and Morata up front with Bernardeschi taking the role Chiesa did so well in the CL
This is a really good and rare opportunity for Bernardeschi
Rabiot and Arthur midfield will be good to see

Re: Calcio Saga 20/21
The roles are settling now with players coming back. I think Bernardeschi can do well on the left in a totally wide role like this. He is clearly not functioning well cutting in from the right and facing goal, this may organise his play.
Funny think that Bernardeschi is now Chiesa's back up.
Hope to see Dybala gain some form before Barca tonight

Ok so Dybala second striker, Bernadeschi left attacker? Kulusevski right?
Cuadrado right back and who's on the left, Frambotta?

Re: Calcio Saga 20/21
nah it's Ramsey on the right is it? And Danilo over there as LB again.
It's almost like he let's them play every position once, Ramsey has been left attacker, second striker, now right attacker?

Ramsey is always playing the same free role behind the strikers.

Re: Calcio Saga 20/21
Ramsey (or Kulusevski if he is playing instead) defends in the line of 4 on the side opposite to the wide midfielder.
So Bernardeschi is the wide midfielder here on the left, so Ramsey is RM on the defensive phase.
When Frabotta was playing on the left he was the fullback, so Cuadrado was the wide midfielder on the right, so Ramsey defended on the left.
Bernardeschi X X Ramsey
Danilo X X Cuadrado
Or
Ramsey X X Cuadrado
Frabotta X X Danilo
For example.
The asymmetry of the system depends on the personel.

Re: Calcio Saga 20/21
Also I don't agree it's quite the same role.
Pirlo is clearly experimenting with different versions and torsions of the same template in different games, rearranging players and their positions to each other, also of course based on the selection.
edit
Yeah that's it
But he's also tried to use personel invertedly
