Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Willian - Just awaiting official confirmation, has said goodbye to Chelsea.
Aubameyang - Seems he'll extend? No new updates.
Maitland-Niles - Interest from two unnamed PL teams and a Bundesliga club.
Lacazette - Some interest from Juventus; Arsenal could be interested in a swap or sale for right price.
Coutinho - Has gone cold. Sources in Spain say no interest from Arsenal. The Athletic says Arsenal currently not looking for a deal.
Partey - Still considered a top target for the club but no new updates.
Gabriel - Reportedly has offers from Arsenal, Everton, Man Utd and Napoli; expected to make his decision soon.
Ceballos - Nothing new.
Ozil - Nothing new.
Guendouzi - Suggestion that PSG might be interested, but links are tentative.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Partey 45m
Willian free
Gabriel 25m
Sarr free
Coutinho loan fee 8m
Ceballos loan fee 5m
Outs Approx 135m
Lacazette 30m
Torriera 30m
Guendouzi 30m
Kolasinac 8m
Sokratis 5m
AMN 30m
Holding loan fee 1m
Chamber loan fee 1m
Mkhitaryan 5m
Martinelli injured
Mustafi injured
Ozil Fu**ed
I would prefer if we can find a player who can fill in the CM/AM slot so that effective rotation can be made without compromising starting 11 quality.
Now this would be a transfer window. But may be I am dreaming too much due to the pandemic
Edit: Just read that RM doesnt want to loan Dani. So Aouar/Doucoure/pellegrini type player will be needed or may be keeping AMN would also help.
Martinelli expected to be back around the turn of the year.

Advanced talks between #ASRoma and #Arsenal for a swap between Lucas #Torreira and Amadou #Diawara. For Diawara is ready 5-years contract, while Torreira's agent has yet to agree. Both clubs would realize a significant capital gain with this deal. #transfers #AFC

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
On Ozil, he came out today arguing that he has been unfairly painted as a villain for not taking a pay cut because he didn't know where the money was going to go and he has a lot of personal financial commitments, mainly to charitable organizations:
https://www.espn.com/soccer/arsenal/story/4158640/arsenals-ozil-people-have-been-trying-to-destroy-me-for-two-years
Honestly, I do call BS on a lot of what he's saying. He says that the club didn't provide transparency but how could they have when they didn't know the full extent of how much money they'd lose by the end of the pandemic? The club reasonably also didn't know who it would be going after in the summer transfer window because it depended on our playing results too. He also says that he has a baby now...last time I checked, it doesn't cost 18.2M per year to raise one child.
My biggest issue with his stance is that he's acting like it is Arsenal's responsibility to fund his personal financial choices, when it isn't. Arsenal is a financially restricted team that is trying desperately to get back to the top, and it is not unethical of them not to throw money at whatever causes Mesut Ozil deems worthy. Ozil is not a bad person and wants to do good things with the money that Arsenal contracted to pay him, but he's bleeding us dry regardless of his intent.
It is clear that Mesut does not want to leave Arsenal, despite seemingly knowing that he is not going to play anymore, so I think the club needs to do one of the following:
1) Say to Ozil that we are going to accept any bid for him from any club so that he can essentially negotiate terms with anybody as if he's a free agent and then can go for free.
If he says that he will not leave no matter what...
2) Say okay, go out and find a club that you want to play for and negotiate terms with them. Then, come back to us with what they are willing to pay you and we will pay you the difference between that amount and what we still owe you on your contract to cancel your contract and allow you to join them for free. This way, Ozil gets his money (with a portion up front), he gets to actually play games next season, and we save millions. If he loves London so much, he can start his search with the smaller clubs in London like Fulham, West Ham, Spurs, etc.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Moreover, Ozil has received the brunt of criticism for everything because of his salary. The club fucked up by giving him that salary and now they're trying everything to make themselves the victims. I'd be annoyed with the club's higher ups as well if I were in his position.
His position is strong because the club can't afford to pay him off. He can sit on that final year if he wants and then go to Tukery or America afterwards. As long as he's fulfilling his contractual.obligations he can do what he likes.
That's bad for the club, but the club brought this on themselves. Not only by giving him so much money, but choosing a manager who had no desire to use him. If you've got an AM in big money you need to get the best out of, then a manager who wants his AM to do everything but create was surely a poor choice

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Ozil actually had another decent stint in Emery's first half a season in 2018/19, but then he completely fell off when Emery's unclear plans for the squad also fell through midway through that season. I still maintain Emery isn't a bad coach, he just inherited a very average squad, and the job wasn't a good fit for him at that specific time for him and for Arsenal.
now sure, you could blame the club for offering Ozil that much money when he was clearly not going to get any better at his age, and it was up in the air as to how long he would maintain his current level at that time. But it happened as it did - the club took a chance, and i don't remember a lot of us fans whining when he signed that extension in 2018 (except maybe only for the amount of his wages which tbh was way too much). The situation now is unbearable and it's weighing over the club, no doubt we could do without it. But laying blame like this all comes in hindsight tbh.

Willian will be here until he is 35. Pretty sure this will be a huge mistake.
As for giving them a chance, I already have and they blew it away. We are 8th after spending 100m+ on players in a team that finished just barely outside the top 4 (not to mention a EL finalist) the previous year.
Things are crap and they are about to get worse. While Chelsea sign a top performer in his prime in Ziyech, we sign their 32 year old winger who Ziyech is replacing. There are levels to this game, and even if Arteta is a genius, he can’t beat these odds.

Good for the short term, he'll fill creative gaps and doesn't seem to have declined at all yet. I share the concerns about the contract length and Kia Joorabchian's influence but it seems a pretty obvious signing to make in the current climate. He'll improve us.

Super weird, classless comments to make and, as Arseblog put it, unsettling that Kia Joorabchian feels so entitled to speak publicly about Arsenal's inner operations.

Less put off by him addressing his connection with Arsenal than how he publicly blames "the previous guy" for "cock-ups" and openly speaks about structural changes that need to happen at Arsenal which seems to prove the point of the criticism he's trying to deflect.

Should try Guendouzi+cash for Aouar instead
Lyon have swiftly rejected an approach from Arsenal to sign Houssem Aouar, which was a cash + Mattéo Guendouzi proposal - OL want money & don't feel they need an additional midfielder, even if Aouar departs - full story. https://t.co/4khNE5jfHO
