Is it time for Barça fans to admit they've been sold a bill of goods on this guy? They thought they were getting a complete midfielder when in reality he's nothing more than a 6/10 player on his best day.

He was Barca’s second best player last season.

He’s been shit this season though. Unfortunately it seems like he’s developed the passivity gene. I don’t know if that’s a good name for it, but just compare him to Verratti when the going gets tough. One hides with the rest of the team while the other stands out.

The thing is if he leaves Barca and goes to a proper team he’ll probably stand out. He’s a cog in a well running machine. Not so much the type to stand out in a bad one. You know what they say about rotten apples…

His best position is no.6 though right? Which overlaps with Busquets, as with so many positions n players we been doing for the last few yrs lol... if so he is the long term replacement of Busquets, but the guys still starting every game meaning Frankie having to play as an 8...

Dont think we should sell him obviously, hes part of the future, unless we are that desperate for money...

Forgot about Araujo and also Alba. These 2 are only ones id keep from the defenders that are playing in rotation right now. Im not counting Balde because he's notplaying for some reason.

Im torn on MAtS. He hasnt been solid for a long time,that could also be down to swiss cheese defense but still, he should be conceding less

Since the Atletico game Xavi has stopped playing him between the lines. He’s been playing deeper next to the LCB and Busquets, while Alba moves high up the touchline and Ferran plays in the channel. This allows Frenkie to get more touches and take advantage of his ball carrying from deep. Glad to see him finally play behind the ball and not ahead of it.

Yep. Also ppl should realize by now the qualities of Alba. I dont know what we would do without him, he adds so much to our game going forward.

The moves makes sense though. Xavi doesn't see him as a Busquets replacement and has been playing him as an attacking midfielder since late February. A big misuse of his talents.

Barca needs the money and Frenkie is on a 20M per year salary. United need a Pogba replacement and Frenkie will get to link up with Ten Hag again. It's the best move for all parties.

De Jong has shown glimpses of WC quality here and there but over 3 full years he hasnt lived up to expectations.

if the fee is 80m +bonuses or something then take it and run (I'm sure he will lose quality from next season onward, dont think he justifies the 80m fee and could end up like Van de Beek at utd). It's a W if Bernardo links are true, otherwise not really.

I think he will be sold only if we have a worthy replacement, though I do not trust this management.

Barça are not actively trying to sell Frenkie de Jong, and the player wants to stay. However, the club know that Manchester United are interested, and would accept an offer of €100m.
