Barca needs the money and Frenkie is on a 20M per year salary. United need a Pogba replacement and Frenkie will get to link up with Ten Hag again. It's the best move for all parties.
Do you still maintain that he's the 'Mbappe of CM's' ? Especially since he could be joining a club that's likely to be in transition for another 2-3 years atleast.

Admittedly that is a take that seems like its aged poorly and maybe I don't rate him as highly as I once did, but I still think he's a very talented player with a high ceiling.
He just turned 25 and given his position time is on his side. Modric was voted flop of the season when he was 27. Xavi was gonna be shipped off from Barca when he was 27. The rest is history with those guys.
He's a midfielder who should play behind on the ball and be given the freedom to drive up the pitch. During his time at Barca he had to be Messi's water carrier and now he's playing as an attacking midfielder. Ten Hag will know how to use him so I expect him to get more recognition if he joins United.
The Mbappe of CM's is to say he'll be recognized as the future best CM in the world. I don't think that will happen at United because for that to happen they'll need to win trophies. I don't expect that to happen anytime soon, so I expect that take will age worse in the coming years.

Re: Frenkie De Jong
That Modric flop of the season isn't really that telling. He did not have a bad season. Barca fans brigaded the voting so Alex Song couldn't win

Re: Frenkie De Jong
Honestly I just remember him not starting that much and Madrid fans having a mixed reception about him.
This thread was during his first season at Madrid:

Looks like I'm doing the MT role here.

Re: Frenkie De Jong
Barca will just end up in the Europa League by February anyway
dominated by the frankfurts of the world, again
THE REAL news is that Xavi has greenlit the sale of FDJ, not a fit for his envisione of Farca
sure De Jong has dreamed of playing in a United shirt since he was a boy too
done dealio imo

Re: Frenkie De Jong
Hmmm try harder, Barca actually second despite all our money issues n will be enjoying the CL group stages which usually means some easy games so, if draw isnt unlucky who knows we might make it to the QFs, meanwhile Man U consistently being the richest club in the world with CR are down in what 7-8th? Could be doing to Conference League XD

Re: Frenkie De Jong
who gives a shite if you're second in that atrocious league
you got dumped into the EL and dominated by Frankfurt, sit down.
Wouldn't finish top 10 in the PL. Frenkie will want to prove himself in the best league in the world, that isnt the CL. It's the PL.

Re: Frenkie De Jong
Frenkie just bought a house in Barcelona and wants to stay. One rumor said Xavi 'greenlit' the move but several ones today say Xavi counts on him and would only accept his sale if a really big offer came in, probably upwards of 90m+bonuses at least.
Man City believe that Frenkie de Jong would be the perfect signing for them. They really love the player, but he would be expensive. @FabrizioRomano

Re: Frenkie De Jong
in recent history 2 cl finals lost to a Spanish team, your beloved Barka. I could go on.
lost to barca in 18/19 in CL 1/4 scoring zero goals.
but celebrate your narrow wins vs Villarreal this season who barely qualify for conference league, your lvl I guess and they went further in cl

Re: Frenkie De Jong
What's the deal with B.Silva? He's city best midfielder (I like more than KDB) and they have just acquired a beast in Haaland. Why would he leave?
Barca will end up with Pedri Kessie and Busquets which is fine. The depth however not so much

B Silva just want to leave. He wanted to leave last year.
If Barca can get him it's a no brainer. Busquets is retiring soon and B.Silva is world class.

Xavi wants to mirror his partnership with Iniesta with Pedri-Bernardo.

Frenkie De Jong does NOT want to join Manchester United. The Dutchman would only leave Barcelona for a top team competing in the Champions League.
